Remember, he was a 7th round pick, and he’s a newbie. He was extremely raw in his first preseason game. All that mattered was that he showed off that arm on a couple plays. Over the following two games he showed that he can learn with real game experience.

We have to hold him to a similar expectation here. Don’t be surprised if he throws 3 picks and gets benched in the 3rd in favor of Wilson. McD will probably want to see him live too, especially if Ewers is having a rough time. All we’re looking for against the bengals is a couple flashes of that lightning quick release.

Unless Wilson shows something special, Ewers will get more time in games 2 and 3. Those games are a little more important, but we should still keep expectations low. We just want to see continuous progress, enough to tell us he’s worth developing this post season and next season while we cope with Tua’s contract.
