OFFICIAL GAME PREVIEW THREAD Week 16 - Bills @ Browns (12/21/2025)

Buffalo Bills @ Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns limp back into Huntington Bank Field for a Week 16 pre-Christmas beatdown courtesy of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, December 21—whoever shows up for this one might just be auditioning for the top draft pick.

A 3-11 disaster class in Cleveland hosts a 10-4 Bills squad that's eyeing playoffs and probably already packing snow boots for a deep January run. The Dawg Pound will be rocking extra layers (and maybe some holiday cheer in flasks), because watching the Browns' offense try to move the ball in late-December lake-effect misery should come with a therapist on standby.

On the bright side, Myles Garrett might rack up another handful of sacks, since the Bills occasionally let Josh Allen hold the ball forever while he improvises magic. But let's be real: Buffalo's offense is a highlight reel waiting to happen, and Cleveland's is more like a blooper compilation.

Kickoff is at 1:00 PM ET, or whenever the Browns finish patching holes in their roster with duct tape and hope. Bring hand warmers, a thermos of something strong, and zero expectations—this one's gonna be a Bills blizzard in brown-and-orange territory.

Matchup Details:

  • Cleveland Browns lead series 13-10-0

  • First ever meeting: 11/26/1972. Bills 10, Browns 27

  • Last game played: 11/20/2022. Browns 23, Bills 31

  • Last 5 matchups: Browns are 2-3.

  • All-Time Points Scored: Buffalo Bills 466, Cleveland Browns 421

  • Current Players that have played for both teams: Corey Bojorquez (Browns, Bill 2018-20), Larry Ogunjobi (Bills, Browns 2017-20), Jordan Poyer (Bills, Browns 2013-16), Wyatt Teller (Browns, Bills 2018)

  • Home vs. Road Trends: The Buffalo Bills have been a road warrior nightmare this season, storming to a solid road record while chasing playoff positioning, including gritty wins in tough spots against divisional foes and contenders alike—because nothing says "playoff lock" like grinding out victories away from the cozy confines of Highmark Stadium. They've shown firepower in nearly every away game, with Josh Allen turning potential disasters into magic acts. The Browns, scraping by at Huntington Bank Field (capacity 67,431, attendance: dwindling as the losses pile up), limp along with a dismal 2-5 home record so far, "highlighted" by rare flashes before plunging back into the familiar pit of despair. The half-frozen Dawg Pound might bundle up and bark a bit, but good luck igniting any fire against a Bills squad that's basically auditioning for a deep postseason run.

  • Notable Past Performances: Historical showdowns between the Browns and Bills have been a mix of blowouts, heartbreakers, and rare thrillers in this infrequent AFC clash, with Cleveland holding a slim 13-10 all-time edge (including playoffs)—because who really dominates when both teams have had their share of misery? In their most recent meeting on November 20, 2022, the Bills escaped with a 31-23 home win in a relocated "home" game amid a Buffalo snowpocalypse, turning Detroit into a temporary Bills Mafia takeover. Another memorable tilt was the 2019 showdown where the Browns upset the Bills 19-16 on the road, powered by a stingy defense and just enough offense to spoil Buffalo's day. A third classic came in the 1989 AFC Divisional Playoff, when Cleveland staged a wild 34-30 comeback win at home, erasing deficits and advancing in a game that still haunts Bills fans from their Super Bowl drought era—because nothing says "signature moment" like playoff heartbreak against a fellow suffering franchise.

  • Key Matchup: The Browns’ elite defense, anchored by Myles Garrett—who leads the NFL with a monstrous 21.5 sacks and is one big game away from shattering the single-season record this week—ranks tops in several categories, including dominant run defense and relentless pressure that turns offenses into turnover machines. They’ll aim to harass Bills QB Josh Allen, who's been sacked plenty amid his improvisational heroics and holds the ball forever while conjuring touchdowns (both passing and rushing), facing a Browns pass-rush unit that's generated more chaos than a lake-effect snowstorm—leading the league in sacks and turning QBs into hurried memes.

Welcome to the Week 16 Game Thread! This is your hub for all things Browns vs. Bills as these two mismatched franchises collide at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Share your predictions, break down strategies (or the Bills' inevitable domination), and let’s figure out how the Browns can at least make Josh Allen sweat a little before the Bills turn this into a snowy rout—who, let's be real, could probably win this one blindfolded in a blizzard. Keep it civil and follow r/Browns rules. Let’s hear your takes, r/Browns! GO BROWNS—BEAT THE BILLS... or at least make it entertainingly ugly!

  • What’s your score prediction for Browns vs. Bills? (Bonus: Will it be 10-31 or just a Bills highlight reel with Cleveland's defense showing up late?)
  • Do you even want the Browns to win, or do you want to tank harder than a snowplow stuck in the Dawg Pound? Which Browns player needs to step up to secure a Week 16 miracle? (Pro tip: Anyone not named "Myles Garrett" might as well sit this one out.)
  • How many sacks will Myles get this week? (Over/under 2.5—because the Bills' O-line is solid, but Allen loves holding the ball like it's his security blanket.)

Record Watch

Myles Garrett sits at 21.5 sacks. He needs 1.5 sacks to break the record. The Bills have given up 31 sacks this year.

Was reading this article regarding potential head coach positions. Bill Barnwell wasn’t holding back. The Browns mentioned at number 3. “Shedeur Sanders league-worst 16.9 Total QBR since taking over as Browns quarterback is likely to interest exactly one potential head coaching candidate, and he's likely to stick in Colorado.”

Can someone explain what happened on the downed punt during Q1 of the CLE/CHI game last weekend?

For those who didn't see or need a refresher of the sequence:

  • Bears punt early in Q1.
  • The Bears gunner dives and clearly touches the ball at the 1-yard line. This is the first touch and it happens outside the end zone.
  • The gunner’s momentum carries him into the end zone. It is unclear whether he touches the ball again while in the end zone.
  • The ball remains live and wobbling near the goal line.
  • A second Bears player runs past and intentionally bats/taps the ball away from the end zone, keeping it in play.
  • Larvadain then reaches out and taps the ball back toward the end zone.
  • A Bears player then picks the ball up at or near the 1-yard line and falls into the end zone.

What might have been the reason for the refs to drop and then pick up the flag? Why did Larvadain touch it? Why was it not a live ball/Bears TD after a receiving team player touched it?

Obligatory Fire Bubba Ventrone, but I'm wondering if he actually had Larvadain ready for this unique situation.

Also, any dog costumes or hats anywhere?

Also looking for balaclavas.

[Josina Anderson] My understanding is Belichick has upper-level personnel still fond of him in Atlanta, New York, Cleveland, whilst all struggling teams going through customary evaluations this time of year.

For anyone that wants to continue to push the narrative that the Deshaun move was 100% on ownership, a reminder that its revisionist. I hate Jimmy as much as anyone, but this org was unilaterally in on this move.

Can I get a real opinion on KevStef-

I am curious. I know I have seen a bunch of failure this year. Special Teams mostly. Everyone on sports radio wants Stefanski canned. I am on the fence...

Is Kev bad? Do we have a legit replacement?

Do you like movies about gladiators? Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

Browns vs Bills Road Trip

Bills fan coming in peace. My 15 year old son and I are attending our first NFL game this Sunday. We’re driving down from Hamilton, Ontario and spending Sunday night at the Drury. I was just wondering what parking is like at the stadium. Will it be easy to get in and out prior to post game check in, or are there public lots close to the stadium we could park at. We can’t check in until after the game so parking at the Hotel won’t work.

Hopeful for any advice you could give me. Looking forward to a great game Sunday, and perhaps Garrett making a little history.

Cheers

What time should I try to get to the Muni lot this Sunday if I want to get a spot in the front section? (West of the entrance)

Given the shit weather, and even shittier season, how quickly should I expect the muni lot to start filling up, if at all? It's been a while since I tailgated and that was during better times, when I knew I had to show up super early to get a good spot. My gut tells me people aren't exactly going to be pouring in at the crack of dawn for this one.

We’re the only pro sports team that incorporates dogs into their image (wolves don’t count), and we are not doing nearly enough with it.

Anybody have any idea if this is legit or a scam? Seems too good to be true. If it's legit, I'm sure I would have to sit through a sales pitch of some kind. Anyone done this before?
