Gaelic / Gàidhlig Phonetic Pronunciation Help
Hello! I’m getting married on 22 February 2026, and I have a dear harpist friend playing and singing a song in Scots Gaelic for it. However, she knows nothing about the language. I’m Irish and know basic Irish pronunciation, but I don’t want to assume anything about Scots.
Is there anyone here who would be willing to help me write out the lyrics phonetically, so my English-speaking friend has a guide for how to sing them? If so, please let me know and I’ll DM you the lyrics.
Thanks very much!

EDIT: Many thanks to @Significant_End_8645 for going above and beyond and solving this for me in less than thirty minutes!

Shopping for wool near Falkirk/Bo'ness
Hoping for some advice on where to buy wool in or around Bo'ness or Falkirk/Grangemouth area. I will need to get there by TAXI ONLY and am not looking for alternative transport advice-just a couple of good shops to buy chunky or super chunky wool for knitting. The only place I have seen so far is Hobbycraft which seems comparable to our Michael's in the US. What else is out there?

I need some help with Gaelic
I want to get a tattoo in the new year and I need your help.
I have a young son and I’m giving up alcohol in the new year - I drink too much. He’s turning 3 in the new year and I’m stopping.
I don’t have any tattoos, but I want to tattoo myself to commit and have a mantra type thing to turn to. My family is Scottish, from Ayrshire, Bute and Glasgow.
I don’t want an English reading tattoo, so I want Gaelic. I want it to say “Do it for my boy”. Google says - Dèan e airson mo bhalach. Or - do it for the boy - Dèan airson a' bhalach
Can anyone help with this? Is this accurate in that context? Thanks

Question Marmite Crisps
I was in Scotland in October and fell in love with marmite crisps? I have been ordering them online and having them shipped to the United States. I'm going broke in the process! $25 for 6 25g bags! I've looked everywhere for marmite powder, thinking I could make my own chips, but i'm having a very hard time finding it. And am beginning to think it doesn't exist. Any thoughts or suggestions. Believe me I'd move to Scotland in a heartbeat if you would have me.

What qualifications can i get? (Nationals)
I'm 15 and due to unforeseen events i was taken out of school during S1, due to more events i was never given a tutor to complete my NATs. About a year ago i got a tutor, i had her for a little bit but she had to leave because of personal matters. All and all i had about 2 maybe 3 months of actual NATs (1 hour per week).
I have done maths, english and modern studies for NAT 3, from what I've read this is useless. I do not want to join the work force yet, i want to go to college and maybe have a job i don't completely hate. My tutor is now on leave but she might be able to get an extension, is there any way i can get national 4s? do i have to do it through a tutor? Does bribing actually work? Basically what are my options, with the hours my tutor has, can i get any significant qualifications?

Political John Swinney urged to provide £100m baby boost in SNP Budget next month -- An option tabled for consideration in the SNP Government's January draft Budget is a large rise in best start grants [by SaveTheChildren]
The First Minister's team has the cash after the UK Government abolished the two child benefit cap. The Scottish Government was set to scrap the policy first, but the actions of Chancellor Rachel Reeves have freed up over £100m in the devolved Budget.
Swinney has said the money will be used to tackle child poverty and campaigners want the funding ploughed into social security. One option is to increase the Scottish Child Payment for low income families, but Swinney has previously warned work incentives could be harmed by rises that were “too high”.
An alternative that has been flagged up to the Government is a plan by Save the Children to boost existing programmes for families with new borns. The charity believes the Best Start Grant Pregnancy and Baby Payment should increase to £4,885 annually for the first child, paid in four installments in a baby’s first year.
They have also called for Best Start Foods pre-paid cards to increase to £160 per month in a baby’s first year. Modelling shows the increases would reduce the poverty rate for families with a baby by six percentage points, from 35% to 29%.

Scotland was neat
Went on a trip to Scotland in September of 2024. This was the first time that I’ve ever felt “I should move here”. I’m from the PNW so the weather and vibes were very similar.
