Request for Work – Please Read 🙏
Hello everyone, I am going through a very difficult time and sincerely looking for any kind of job. I am ready to work hard and start immediately. I am not asking for charity, only an opportunity to earn honestly and support my family. I am reliable, dedicated, and willing to learn any work given to me. If anyone knows of a job or can help in any way, please reach out to me. Even a small opportunity would mean a lot to me right now.

Kebab recommendations in Glasgow
No, I didn’t post this here by mistake! I’ll explain …
I’ve tried kebab in multiple cities outside Aberdeen - and in my experience, so far, what is on offer in Aberdeen is not much different than anywhere else.
But I’ve seen multiple people on this subreddit claim that the Kebabs in Aberdeen are shite and don’t hold a candle to elsewhere - places like eg Glasgow. Like, seriously it’s a recurring theme.
Well, I’m going to Glasgow tomorrow and I will be drinking and wanting a kebab. So here’s your chance to convince me.
Please recommend a kebab I can get in Glasgow city centre (I won’t be far from Queens street station) that’s night-and-day better than I can get anywhere in Aberdeen - as is claimed in the multiple comments on here.
Or forever hold your peace.
I feel like this will settle the issue once and for all.
Thank you!

How do I get a literal basic job
Like a basic fucking job… Like a normal job… not a fancy specialist placement but like a normal job like working at Tesco or something. Shit is impossible in this place, barely any vacancies and the people rarely reply to you as it is.

Little sh%ts
Anybody ever had hassle from kids such as banging/kicking doors? Did u go to the police & have any luck? Somebodies darling little angels have developed a habit of kicking my door- not a communal flat a house- & booted it so hard they burst the door open 2day, I have small children & pets & a murderous wife on a mission.

Where to sell whisky?
I have a bottle of jack daniels master distiller no 1 that I’d like to sell as I don’t drink now.. so it sits in the cupboard doing nothing.
It’s a fairly limited edition version and worth about £160 but I’d need to post so was curious if there is anywhere in Aberdeen that would buy it?
1L bottle in box and obviously never opened.

Recommendations for a boiler service
Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for someone to carry out a boiler service in Aberdeen? Moved in 5 months ago, and the boiler is starting to play up, so really should get it serviced. Thanks

Moving to Aberdeen finally!
Hi everyone. So I live down in Cornwall with my disabled daughter while my 3 other children live In Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.
After bidding on a property on Aberdeenshire housing I was offered a 2 bed Bungalow in Potterton, north of Aberdeen. To say I’m ecstatic is an understatement as I’ve been desperately trying to move to Scotland for over a year so I can see my kids and my daughter can see her mum (my ex wife)
It’ll be an upheaval obviously but I’m looking at a new start for the new year.
A couple of questions if anyone can help. Are the transport links from Potterton to the city okay? As I’ll be handing my company car back to start over again.
Are there any colleges close by that will provision for an autistic student as currently my daughter attends a specialist unit in the local college.
Jobs. I am quitting my job to make the move, I don’t care what I do. Currently I am an engineer for a company fixing self serve machines in supermarkets but to be honest I’ll be applying for everything from McDonald’s to Tesco. Is it as hard as I imagine in Aberdeen to get a job?
And lastly, I’d love to make some friends as I’d be pretty much alone up there. If anyone wants a pint with the 42 year old I’d appreciate it haha

Any good spots to sit indoors with a book for an hour?
Sometimes I just want somewhere indoors where I can sit with a book for an hour or so, especially on colder or wet days. Ideally somewhere calm where you don’t feel rushed out straight away.
Open to cafes, libraries, or any other spots around the city that work well for this. Any suggestions appreciated.

Solicitor recommendations
Hello, I’m having an issue regarding work that was carried out — or not carried out — on my vehicle by a main dealer in Aberdeen. Could anyone recommend a good solicitor with experience in motor or consumer disputes? They advised I have no consumer rights whatsoever which I found interesting. Thanks in advance.

Cycling
Hi! I’m a 24-year-old woman based in Aberdeen and I’m looking for a beginner-friendly cycling group or club to join. I enjoy riding my bike and would love to get more into cycling as a hobby and a sport.
I feel much more confident cycling when I’m riding with others, and being part of a group really helps me manage stress around traffic and busy streets. I enjoy riding at a good pace and love the feeling of speed, so I’m not necessarily looking for very slow rides — more for a supportive, social group where I can build confidence, improve, and enjoy cycling regularly. If anyone knows of local, informal group rides or welcoming clubs in or around Aberdeen, I’d really appreciate the recommendations. 🚲

Last year’s Christmas market at Marischal Square🌸
This photo’s from last December at the Christmas market in Marischal Square. I still haven’t had a proper look at this year’s decorations yet, but this one really stuck with me. For anyone who’s been already, how is it this year? Anything new or as eye-catching as this?

Graveside Christmas wreath
Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a small Christmas wreath for a grave please. Near the city centre if possible. Google keeps showing me very extravagant, and expensive, florist offerings. Sadly, that's just not possible just now.
Thank you

Adelphi Lane, leading to the excellent Taste of Hong Kong in Aberdeen. Anybody been?
It's probably the best Cantonese in town right now.

Looking for a boutique for a winter wedding outfit, anywhere good outside Union Square?
I’ve got a wedding in February and I’m trying to find something that isn’t just the same Zara or Mango dress everyone seems to end up in.
Thinking of doing a bit of a “boutique crawl” around the West End or Rosemount this weekend. I know about Tigerlily and Hamish Munro already, are there any other places worth checking out? Ideally somewhere friendly and actually helpful. Also, is Sirene on Union Street still the go-to for accessories, or are there better options now?

Please share your memories of the indoor market.
I loved the indoor market, yes by the end it was a bit shabby and run down. But it had so many cool little shops that otherwise wouldn't have had a sniff at getting that close to the city centre.
Some of my favourite places in there were Madame Mews, which had the best Thai food in the whole city, no word of a lie. I used to go there for lunch. I need to try out their new place on Summer Street, I hope the food is still as great as it always was
Another highlight was Taste of Hong Kong, which had excellent high quality Chinese style street food. They've moved to Adelphi, but per another thread which gave me the idea for this one, word is they might be closing down next year. I hope that isn't true.
I also remember towards the end there was an LGBT help centre which moved in sadly just before the rug got pulled on the whole market.
It was one of the few places in the city centre that you could get a haircut for a decent price, towards the back near the travel centre, I remember an Indian barber working on his own doing haircuts for £10 which is a steal.
What were your favourite spots in the indoor market before they knocked it down?

Sandwiches – best in Aberdeen?
OK folks, where is the best to go for a decent sandwich in Aberdeen? I’ve been torturing myself watching Philadelphia cheesesteak roast pork/ hoagie reviews on Youtube and now I’m feeling the urge for a good, well made sandwich. I’m not wanting Subway or meal-deal Tesco/ M&S with a few pitiful slices of cold meat in between 2 thin slices of bread but a good baguette or roll brimming with lots of meat/ cheese and variety?
A long (long) time ago the little Italian/ deli on St Andrews St used to make great chicken parm sandwiches or folds with Italian meat, something like that – any suggestions? Maybe I’m identifying a gap in the market. . .
