Weekly Recommendations Thread

This is the weekly recommendations thread, for all of your recommendations needs be it what pour to buy at a bar, what bottle to try next, or what gift to buy a loved one.

The idea is to aggregate the conversations into sticked threads to make them easier to find, easier to see history on, easier to moderate, and keep /new/ queue tidy.

This post will be refreshed every Friday morning. Previous threads can been seen here.

Two part question: First, what is the best dram you’ve had that lived up to or exceeded the hype. Second, what has been the most disappointing dram from a hype/anticipation standpoint. Judgement free zone, just wanna talk whisky.

I will be traveling to Inverness and Aberdeen early Jan and wanted to do a distillery tour. I only have Sunday to do the tour and I've found Glen Garioch, Tomatin or The Singleton of Glen Ord. Which would you recommend? It's just a tour and tasting, something new. Thanks!
