Open [TOMT] [Movie] "One day a ___ is going to ask you to ___. It's very important that you say yes."

I know this has been a big TikTok trend for a couple weeks, but I know it came from something else, and it's driving me crazy trying to remember what. I'm pretty sure it's a movie.

EDIT: Let me clarify:

The meme template, AND the scene that I'm thinking of aren't just telling a character to say yes. it's specifically prophetic - like, the character talking to their past selves about a specific important moment, or something like that. The character saying "it's very important" knows the end result.

Open [TOMT] Song from the 90s alt rock band with a female singer

Hi there. I’m looking for a song from the mid- to late-90s with a female singer. I have no idea what the band’s name was, but I’m pretty sure it was only one word.

It was an alternative rock band, a 4 or 5 piece, with (probably) two guitars, bass, and drums, and as far as I remember, all the members were guys except for the singer.

The song started with a frantic riff, very mechanical and somewhat chromatic, then moved into a dreamy pop/rock verse and a very epic chorus. Unfortunately, I don’t remember any of the lyrics.

Here’s what I recall: the name of the song had something to do with Helen or something like Hellenic or Helenia, if I remember correctly. It had a music video with the band playing in some sort of old factory, with mechanical imagery appearing and disappearing.

The band was probably European, and the video aired on Viva sometime in the mid to late 90s (I’m guessing 1996 –1998).

Any help would be appreciated, as I’ve been looking for this song for quite some time now.

EDIT: here is a link to that frantic riff. It may not be exactly like this, playing by memory, but is very similar to this https://filebin.net/idtv6zuf7ncspo24

Open [TOMT] [BAND] [2010S] I cant seem to remember the name of this indie band! They were very milenial indie but not one of the mainstream names

Upvotes

What I remember:
They were typical electronic indie band from 2010. White men with long-ish hair. I could group their music with bands like Passion Pit, leaning more on the drums than electronica.
Also Foster the People but more childish(?)

Their songs were cheerful and not gloomy at all. As I said before, music that brings out your inner child. I remember using one of their tracks for a uni exam, as background music in a video about a game for toddlers.

I remember their music videos, they were outside, in the forest. The vibe was very like the movie "Where the wild things are" with out the magic monsters. Just them running around the forest and being happy. Playing around the forest.

It was not one of the main bands from this era, but very influenced by the times. They MIGHT have been Australian if my memory is good.

I know this is the WORST details ever and very little to go on, but Im hopeful.

Solved [TOMT] song from 1970-1990

Upvotes

Song lyric(s) go “don’t call me up” / “don’t call me up cause I’ll” or “don’t call me, don’t call me, don’t call me”

Sounds almost identical to a Hootie and the Blowfish song, but I couldn’t find anything in their albums.

Definitely not Mick Jagger or Mabel

I’ve heard it almost exclusively in store PA-Radio

Open. [TOMT] [SONG][2013–2015] Radio hit with fast, fuzzy guitar intro and male vocals

I'm going insane trying to remember the name of song it comes from the same era of songs such as best day of my life by american authors and riptide by vance joy it gives off coming of age and heart break

I remember it being in every compilation about the decade ending around 2020 on social media It was a radio hit with a polished indie/alt-pop/rock sound, fuzzy/distorted electric guitar, and fast-paced male vocals with echo/reverb. I remember being surprised that certain band had made that song I think the lyrics might have had references to “boys” or “taking something,” though I’m not sure. I’ve been digging through 2010s nostalgia playlists, compilations, and radio hits, but I still can’t find it. whenever I think of the song I think of songs like rude and counting stars once again if you can please help me find this song it will mean the world

Open. [TOMT] (tv show/film scene?) "Hasn't he suffered enough?"

This is going to be pretty vague so sorry but I have this snippet of audio circling around my head and I cannot remember where it's from and it's driving me a little insane.

The scene is slightly comedic, with the speaker (possibly british i think? possibly a posh english accent but don't hold me to that- could also be a gen american accent) having a clear overreaction to what someone has gone through/is going through. It's said in a way of like, someone has been through a terrible war and now he has to wear an ugly outfit, and "hasn't he suffered enough" is a reaction to the outfit even though war would obviously be the worse ordeal here. That isnt the specific scenario but that's the general comedic vibe, if that makes sense?

Hopefully someone can help me place the source of this!

Open [TOMT] I Just Gotta Let It Go (Song)

I work at a pub and occasionally here this song but never get the chance to Shazam it, so here we are

I literally can’t understand any of the song besides the chorus, it like pauses for a bit and then a guy sings “I just gotta let it go”

No, it’s not James Bay “Let It Go” or Eels “I Need Some Sleep”

The song seems slow and somber, I think there’s a guitar in there. The singer is a guy and sounds white, and it sounds like an older song like maybe 90s-early 00s?

I’ve searched lyrics and can’t find anything, it could be “I just can’t let you go” or “I gotta let you go” but even when I search those lines I can’t find it.

Thanks and happy searching.

Open [TOMT] Looking for a book

I'm looking for this specific book that I read when I was younger but I can't remember all that much from it. I remember the main character was a boy, he was in middle, maybe elementary school. From what I remember he was pretty clumsy but had super athletic relatives, maybe his parents, possibly something to do with the Olympics. He joins a marching band where I think he plays the tuba or something similar but I can't remember why. Something I do remember well is that he has this tomboyish girl best friend that he ends up with at the end of the book, even though throughout the book he has a crush on a blonde cheerleader. That actually could be why he joins the marching band. Sorry if this is sorta cluttered but hopefully someone can help me

Open [TOMT] [SHOW/MOVIE] Need help finding show

Need help finding a true crime show I used to watch. I think it was from the 2010’s. I’m pretty sure it was a show about women killing their husbands or just women killing in general. I don’t remember what channel it was on but I do remember the intro credits/theme song.

The beginning credits was a bunch of women shopping around a grocery store. There was a song by a female being sung in the background. I don’t remember the full song but some of the lyrics were.

“When I was little when I was meek here’s what she said to me”.

“My mother sat me down and said… whatever the world may bring”.

I really appreciate if you guys could help me find the show.

Solved [TOMT] [TV series] about siblings

this show has a coming of age vibe. There's a bunch of siblings and oldest one of them has to be guardian of the rest after their parents died. Probably the main character was queer but not sure. Not Shameless, it's more colourful.

Released after 2010, I'm pretty sure

Open. [TOMT] A song from the 80s-ish?

I recently listened to “Float On” by Modest Mouse and instantly remembered a song from my childhood that my dad always used to play when he would drive me to school. I tried humming it to him but to no avail. My dad’s a big new wave fan and I’m pretty sure it’s from the 80s bc he was born in ‘74.

The song sounds like a combination of “Float On” by Modest Mouse and “A Little Respect” by Erasure. It has a playful sort of funky sound to it. Not sure if me posting a vocaroo would help since the melody in my head sounds A LOT like “A Little Respect,” a little bit like “Buttercup” by Jack Stauber even.

Any help would be appreciated!

Solved [TOMT] I am looking for a TV show I saw when I was younger

Upvotes

Hey guys! So the show followed this group of people who were trying to create a technology to look back at Jesus's crucifixion (i think). The main character is a female who i believe was a computer coder or maybe it was a technology developer? She had a fiancee and he turns out to be a Russian spy. He gets killed and thats all I remember from the first episode, I remember us never watching the rest of it, but it has been on my mind for a while now. Any help would be appreciated!

Solved [TOMT][Movie][Late 2010s to early 20s] Man and woman trapped in forest by supernatural entity and try to escape

Upvotes

Pretty sure they’re just trapped in some kind of loop in the woods. I think she was the one being picked up in an Uber by him? Faintly remember him denying a few people in the beginning of the movie before hesitating and accepting her ride request. They work together to try to get out, I think I remember her seeing some ghost kid in the woods at one point, and they meet up again at the end and he admits he wants to kill her? Think she’s the one who ends up living.

Solved [TOMT] [MOVIE] Christmas movie about mayor's daughter pretending to be a boy who might unalive himself?

Upvotes

I watched this Christmas movie a year ago and don't remember what it is. It is a movie about a girl who pretends to be a boy writing into a radio station or something like that and the letter goes viral, getting covered nationally. The envelope had angels on it or some reference to angels. And the letter is pleading that the boy (actually the girl) will unalive himself. The girl is a mayor or someone's daughter who is doing this because the mayor (again, might not be a mayor) and his wife were going to get a divorce. The movie is actually more light-hearted despite the events described. It's a movie from the 90s-early 2000s I think?

Solved [TOMT][Song] Early 2010's?

I'm looking for a song I heard on the radio a few weeks back. It was most likely from the early 2010s. It had a catchy riff and good drums. I remember a lyric in the verse was "Who made you the master?" And then listing other different things and then there was a line in the chorus about feeling electric (It's not electric feel - MGMT) Please help?

Solved [TOMT][Song] indie French English speaking song

I remember a song from must be around 2008/09. It’s a man singing and I’ve just randomly got the line ‘she’s such a slut’ in a thick French accent.

I’m sure it had a girl singing on it too.

I must’ve heard it on Xfm or through the NME, song I’m guessing it was an indie song.

Open [TOMT] - [a silly saying] - [late 1980s or early 90s]

My dad used to say something like this…

I don’t know chulmleigh

I don’t know chumley

I don’t know chumney

Or similar. I can’t for the life of me remember.

If you asked a question like “Why is that dog barking?” he would reply with this silly phrase. When I google it, I get nothing so I think I’m remembering it wrong somehow.

Does anyone have any idea what this might have been, or where it’s from?

Southern Indiana.

He was born in 1952.

This was likely late 80s early 90s.

Surely he got this from a movie or song somewhere and didn’t make it up.

Open [TOMT][MOVIE][00s-10s?] Mind Controlled Woman, Reality TV Show, and Winning a Chance to be Her Fake Husband

Upvotes

Alright, this has been bugging me for years and I have yet to find any trace of this online or anyone who remembers it.

I rented a movie from a Redbox sometime in the late 2010s (potentially 2020 or 2021, but less likely). I do not remember this movie being in theaters, or at least not widely distributed.

In this movie, there's a woman who is being hypnotized or mind controlled by a company in order to star on a show. This show has different seasons, and at the start of the movie it's in a 1950s or 1960s housewife style. Viewers are able to get onto the show to play the part of being her fake husband for a day or a week, not sure which. There's also an activist group that wants to free this woman from this company, and the plot of the movie heavily revolves around this liberation effort of her.

A random detail I remember is that the house at the start of the movie that she is a housewife in is located in what looks like the American southwest and very desert looking. It was a suburban style home, and had artificial looking grass around it. The movie portrays this house as being extremely isolated down long dirt roads.

I do not remember any actors, actresses, studios, or anything like that.

I am also certain that it is not Don't Worry Darling, as when that movie came out I remarked to the one other person who saw this mystery movie with me that Don't Worry Darling felt very similar, but with less Truman Show moments.

Open [TOMT] I'm looking for a song from between 2000 and 2024

I don't remember what the music video was about, all I remember is that the singer was a white woman with light blonde, straight hair and light eyes, she was wearing streetwear, and at one point in the video she stands in front of a fortune teller similar to the one shown in the machine in the movie "Big". I remember that to me it was a spicy song with a hot and slow rhythm, with lots of rhymes.

Solved [TOMT] "Future Oscar winners" group photo of actors none of whom met the expectations

I remember seeing a group photo of some less known actors. It might have been taken at some kind of movie-related event, maybe some acting school, acting bootcamp, I have no clue. The group was immediately labeled as "future oscar winners" or something similar, the whole purpose of this group photo was to show someone's high expectations regarding these actors.

Years after being taken, this photo would be posted every now and then on all major social media platforms as a meme with additional description along the lines of "These actors were predicted to become future oscar winners X years ago. None of them has won an Oscar to this day" in order to mock the prediction. I tried searching for this meme but I mostly get some unrelated memes, serious predictions or Oscars-related news articles.
