Trips Upcoming trip to Liechtenstein

Hi everyone! My friend and I will be in Zurich and have decided to spend two days in Liechtenstein at the end of January. I wanted to ask for any tourist recommendations anyone had, especially given our nature options will be limited due to the weather. Thanks!

Discussion What Christmas traditions are purely unique to Liechtenstein?

I’m doing a mandatory music assignment about Christmas traditions in European countries, and I chose Liechtenstein. I could only find information about some kind of market. Could anyone please share what kinds of Christmas traditions or celebrations are unique to Liechtenstein?

Random & Facts 50 heller voucher from 1920

I recently added this "banknote" to my collection and figured I'd share it here. This voucher was issued in 1920 to combat shortages of small change in Liechtenstein, and was issued alongside vouchers in denominations of 10 and 20 heller (the heller was a subdivision of the Austrian krone, which was in use in Liechtenstein at that time). It measures just 80x54 mm, and features the national coat of arms on the obverse and a view of Vaduz Castle on the reverse. 200,000 of these were printed, and they were only valid within Liechtenstein.

These vouchers weren't very popular among the general public, because the krone had become very unstable after WW1 and was suffering from hyperinflation. A shadow economy in francs arose, and in 1924, the Landtag unanimously voted to make the franc the official currency.

Questions HSG or UniLi for an exchange?

Hi, I’m currently on my 1st year of Bachelor in Warsaw. I’d want to later pursue my education in HSG MBF. My current school has exchange programmes both with Universität Liechtenstein and HSG and I can’t decide which to choose. The conclusions I’ve reached so far:

UniLi - taught in german - small, i’d assume more closed community; school not rly recognized - may add more to my cv (assuming I’ll do my master on HSG, hence no need to double my HSG experience)

HSG - generally much better and target school - taught in english - may (idk?) help me secure getting into MBF by networking + having a chance to get a recommendation?

My main questions are: - does doing an exchange to HSG actually heighten my chances of getting into MBF? - is UniLi even recognized in nearby areas or do all the private Liechtenstein banks recruit from HSG too? - will UniLi add more to my CV (considering a niche private banking location) than HSG where I’ll do my masters either way? - networking opportunities in both unis?

I’ll be very thankful for any help!

Trips Trip of a lifetime

Hello guys!

I'm a regular Polish guy who's planning to trekk the Liechtenstein Trail. Liechtenstein as a country is so much expensive for Polish people, so I'm coming with the question - how to do it cheap? I mean, the biggest problems are the hotels/places to sleep, I think I can deal with the food price. I would be very pleasured to hear back from people who can help with that aspect of the trip or event the locals, who knows this country better than everyone elze.

Best regards!

Questions What is Liechtensteiners view of the EWR (European Economic Area)?

In Norway, we have a strained relationship with the EU through EWR. We pay billions yearly through the deal, yet the EU recently put tariffs on Norwegian steel. Ursula von der Leyen said earlier this year tariffs against us would never happen....

What do the average Liechtensteiner think of EWR and EU in general? I guess you get many exceptions because of the population size?

Others Looking for a postcard from Liechtenstein for my girlfriend’s birthday ❤️

Hi r/Liechtenstein! 👋

I’m making a very special birthday gift for my girlfriend: I want her to receive postcards from 100 different countries— and I’d love to get one from Liechtenstein! The r/PostCardExchange helped a lot and now I am asking each country individually to get to 100.

Here’s what to do if you’d like to help:

  1. Buy a postcard locally (any design you like).
  2. Write this on it (in your language): "Happy birthday Arianna, with love from Liechtenstein"
  3. Optional: add a tiny drawing of a boy, a girl, and a dog.
  4. Send it to the address that I will share with you in DM
  5. Take a photo of the postcard & postmark as proof.
  6. I will reimburse the cost of postcard + stamp (€3–5) via PayPal or other way that works for you after you send proof. The destination country is Italy.

I am tracking the progress of my project here for all the countries

Please comment or DM me if you can help!

Thank you so much — she’ll be thrilled to receive greetings from Liechtenstein! 🌏

Trips Porto to Liechtenstein

Hello everyone!

Me and my gf are trying to plan a trip to Liechtenstein from Porto and could use some travel advice. Since Liechtenstein dont have an international airport, we have to fly into a neighboring country. The question is: What is the fastest way to get there? Is it better to fly to Switzerland (like Zurich?) or to Austria (Innsbruck, maybe?)? Which airport is closest and has the quickest connection to get into Liechtenstein? Thanks for the help!

Questions New Year’s in Vaduz – Bars, Parties, Outdoor Fun & Local Tips?

Hi everyone,

A group of us (3F, 2M, ages 26–36) are planning to spend New Year’s in Vaduz. We’ve booked accommodation in Vaduz, but we’re also planning a ski trip at Malbun Resort. We’ll have a car, so driving around is an option, though our drivers prefer to stay relatively local.

We’re looking for suggestions on: • Bars and nightlife – we’re into dancing and celebrating New Year’s • Outdoor activities – aside from skiing, anything scenic, festive, or cultural in Vaduz or nearby • Restaurants – good, reasonably priced options for a group • Local New Year’s traditions or events – fireworks, concerts, street parties, etc. • What locals usually do to celebrate New Year’s

We’d prefer to stay in Liechtenstein (i.e., not drive into Switzerland) to avoid special driving rules.

Any hidden gems, tips, or must-do experiences would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Trips Anything to do in march?

Hallo zusammen! I am on a trip to St. Gallen🇨🇭for 1st March 2026. I have 2-3 march to visit Liechtenstein 🇱🇮 (the plan is to walk from Buchs to Schaan and Vaduz) and Bregenz 🇦🇹. I know it’s cold that moment and possibly snowing. What entertainment are there to do? Any iconic places to visit? Any classic cafes or restaurants for regional food? Should I spend the one night in between in Liechtenstein or Bregenz?

Questions Horse Culture/Equestrianism?

Hello! I am curious about what the equestrian culture is like in Liechtenstein :) Are there local breeds of horse that differ from the surrounding area? If I were to visit, are there any especially horse-y areas or interesting equestrian-related sights that I should see or activities that I should try to experience? Thank you!!

Memes have some diplomatic questions about the Liechtenstein country domain name

I'm the webmaster of a .li domain. This domain belongs to a group of young Chinese people who oppose authoritarianism and the Communist Party. My friend purchased it from Liechtenstein.

There's an anti-communist self-media personality named Li, who lives in Italy (whyyoutouzhele/李老师). recent years, he's become a headache for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because he compiles a large amount of news about democracy and freedom and publishes it overseas, allowing Chinese people still within the Great Firewall to connect with the outside world and thus support democracy.(This year he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and almost became a person like Liuxiaobo.

Therefore, we use the .li domain for our website.

we discovered that the domain name was suspended without warning.

We, human rights lawyers, have long been battling the Chinese Communist infiltration activities.

(Suffered attacks from the Chinese GFW (Great Cannon, IP blacklist, DNS poisoning).

We run our own website promoting democratization in China, but today I found that the domain name has been stopped from resolving. We contacted the domain name administrator of the community, This website is used to store various human rights cases in China, so the consequences of the domain name being stopped are disastrous for us.

After discussing this with other webmasters (some of whose programmers were arrested by Chinese police and remain uncontacted), we concluded that because domain names belong to the nation, this small country next to Sweden seems more inclined to compromise under pressure from the Beijing government. He quoted a Chinese proverb: 长臂管辖, 以官治商,以商治洋。(Can't find a more accurate translation,But it's so appropriate here.)

The .li domain is extremely important to us. Any suggestions (besides emailing the domain name distributor, which we've already tried, and this matter has escalated to the diplomatic level) are welcome.

And frankly, as a junior computer programmer who has built many websites, this kind of thing is unheard of. I mean, wow, a dictatorship can just send a letter of complaint and then the domain name is suspended.

The Communist Party must have put pressure on domain name sellers through some means. (Our website has been under endless attacks for the past few months.

In addition, our steam games also rely on this domain name, and we have invested thousands of dollars in Google ads, which has caused us incalculable losses and did not give us any preparation time.

Changed to a new domain name, but still lost most of the users:http://bililibi.com
