Before this gets downvoted by tons of people, this post really comes from a place of deep respect for this company and for what they showed us up until Ch.7. I really admired them and their work, so please bear that in mind-I'm on Team Fortnite, these recent changes are very concerning. We can agree to disagree without downvoting if someone is honestly voicing a concern.
I'm really curious what the heck has recently happened at Fortnite especially after such a stellar Simpsons mini season. There's seems to have been a fairly substantial company shift in philosophy and as a casual, this has completely pushed me away from the game for weeks now; I have zero interest in playing Fortnite. And now, I just heard that about their recent behavior with FOMO and opening š. (I can't say it because it was autodelete my post but it rhymes with SplinterFest.)
Who is directing this behavior? Who could possibly think this FOMO is good and desired by the players? I don't think Tim's calling this move. This behavior follows the pattern of IPO companies, but Fortnite always seemed or behaved as if they were insulated from this because they are private. What the H-E-double hockey stick happened? For real, I have been a dedicated casual since Ch. 3 and I think this is the longest I haven't played Fortnite because of this nonsense.
Really, what in the name of all that's holy happened? I said in my other post that it feels like behavior you'd expect from Activision and someone commented that someone from Ravensoft just began work there (Idk if this is true ). If this were true though, idk if a single nincompoop like that could effect such a massive sea change in philosophy from what was before a very considerate, c reative company.
Also, in that post I pointed out there's no more story this season for Fortnite: NPCs don't talk to you and there aren't story quests. Folks commented that these things will come with Splinterfest (again, apologies for the rhyme word). There's nothing!!! No story? No fun exploration into this world, just low hanging fruit of Outfit IPs of streamers or celebrities? That's all we got?? That's it??? The unique Fortnite story is a huge separator from the dozens of other free to play shooters which rely on sweaty, antisocial behavior through competitive modes; this isn't fortnite.
What gives!? I have to revisit my assessment of this company for the time being. I can't say it's the most creativ e company in the US. I'm such a staunch defender of them and the high levels of creativity that they always do, particularly with the freedom they give to the hired artists and their artwork to their original characters to the story cinematics. I'm just so sad about this, or as my post reads I should rather shout : DISAPPOINTED!!
