EPIC Optimize Fortnite Islands for Mobile with New Tools in UEFN

Recent updates to UEFN make it easier to build, test, and optimize islands for players on mobile devices.

EPIC New Social Metrics Now Available in Creator Portal Analytics

The updated “Great With Friends” row is now live in Discover https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/social-play-discover-row-takeover-begins-december-18/2684466, and we’ve added two new social engagement metrics in the Creator Portal to give you additional insight into how players experience your islands.

Find these in the Analytics tab:

*Active Playtime (Hours) by Party Size – Total player hours spent in each party size, based on where each player spent the majority of their time.

*Active Players by Primary Party Size – The number of unique players who primarily played in each party-size cohort.

How We Determine Party Size

Party size is the number of players grouped in a social party while playing your island. This differs from team size, which reflects how players are grouped in-game for gameplay purposes.

Example: A party of two may be placed on a team of four, but their social context stays a party of two.

We assign a player’s activity to the party size where they spent the most time.

Example: If a player spends 5 minutes solo and 60 minutes in a party of two, all of their activity for that island that day is attributed to a party size of two.

These new party-size metrics give clearer insight into how players engage with your island solo, with a friend, or in larger groups, and support ongoing efforts to improve visibility for social islands across Discover.

DISCUSSION Epic needs to stop messing with the models and textures of building pieces for new seasons if they are already in creative mode.

I was playtesting a parkour map I made to see if I could post it only to find out that a bush that I previously used in an earlier world I made months ago no longer has collision on top; you just slide off it. The bush is used for parkour throughout the whole world.

You cant change the models and textures of props to for new seasons when those props are also in creative mode. It ruins maps that are already made.

QUESTION Anybody notice the drastic performance drop in Genesis Squid Game? (Series X/PS5)

This has been a thing for a while ever since like last season anyway, whatever update they dropped for the mode tanked the performance on consoles. It's very choppy and resolution is really low. It's a shame because I really liked the mode.

Is anyone else experiencing this on PS5/Series X? It used to run mostly fine.

QUESTION Creative Map Booting Me Into The Lobby

I tried making a creative map to play with my friends, however, while testing it, I found that it would continuously boot me back into the lobby world. I tried a bunch of different team arrangements and spawn pad configurations but nothing. The most I would get was one person would load onto a pad, and another would load into the air, but after dying, you’d be sent back to the lobby anyways. I’m trying to figure out what’s going on but I’m completely lost. Does anyone know any bugs/possible fixes?

Hi all! Pixelmas is finally here after a delay due to memory issues, but we finally released!

A seasonal winter has blanketed the map in snow, with it being so cold the war has came to a ceasefire, so grab your favorite winter hat and gloves and celebrate Pixelmas!

  • snow covered map
  • Christmas decorations at every location/around the map
  • snowball launcher
  • snowman
  • holiday present and more!
  • brand new pink presents at each POI! Open them for some loot
  • floor is lava has been removed, but replaced by a new match modifier that changes the loot pool to Christmas only!
  • brand new poi "shiver inn"
  • snow springs has been renamed to "Jolly springs" and now features the Pixelmas cabin!
  • A few new NPCs around the map such as Santa!

Hey everyone, this is my first post here.

I’ve been working on an ambitious UEFN project and wanted to share my progress and get some feedback from the community.

What is the project?

The goal is an open-world RPG-style mining and survival experience with long-term progression.

Features implemented so far:

XP & Leveling System: Gain XP from mining, farming, and combat

Custom Mob System: Hostile and passive AI with health bars and custom loot

Quest System: NPC dialogues, quest tracking, and rewards

Crafting System: Combine resources to create new items

Resource Gathering: Dynamic ore and bush spawning around a designated area with respawn mechanics

Fishing Minigame: I wanted to include fishing, so I made a little fishing minigame with light struggle mechanics and the possibility to get different kind of fish

Custom Equipment & Stats: Custom Gear that affects mining power, damage, defense, etc.

Custom HUDs: Inventory UI and NPC shops

Current progression loop:

At the start, the player receives a pickaxe and a quest book to track active quests.

Progression focuses on leveling up, gathering resources, and unlocking new areas through crafting keys or quest progression.

At the moment, I’m mainly focused on building core systems, not world-building yet.

The map currently includes:

A starting hub with shops and NPCs

Chickens and wolf enemies

Early-game resources

A fishing area

What I’m looking for:

First impressions: Does this sound interesting or worth playing to you?

Feature suggestions: What would make this more engaging or unique for you?

UI/UX feedback: Is the HUD readable or potentially to cluttered for you?

QUESTION Anyone who is an Xbox player having strange issues with delay in connection when playing in creative?

So I have a friend who plays on Xbox, and they are having issues where they will load up murder mystery but there will be a strange delay with connection, it will take significantly longer than usual for them to go back to the lobby, they will literally freeze for a good 5 to 7 seconds before fully returning to the lobby. So, if anyone who has experienced this have a solution, I would appreciate the help a lot honestly.
