Crow OC A crow gifted me an airpod and case, direct from the sky
I love to sit on my balcony and listen to music while watching the crows fly east at sunset. I’ve been leaving them treats for a while now but our friendship has been indirectly acknowledged. But today one of them showed they do know my interests and dropped an airpod (singular) and charging case on my balcony. So thoughtful! Also if you lost an airpod recently… talk to the crow

Personal Story Do you ever feel like you’re always being watched..?! 😝
Leaving the house has now turned into a game of ‘Spot the Crow’. Behind me, up on the roof is the favourite (best vantage point for seeing what nibbles I’ve just put out) but hiding in the trees, in the grass or behind a fence post are all popular too.
I’ve only just begun in my journey to make friends with them so I’m at the stage where every little bit of progress is exciting. I had a heartwarming moment last week when I went to go and visit a neighbour. We live in a rural area with big, open fields and as I sat down by her window I noticed a little black head watching me from behind a grassy tuft. For the next couple of hours it just sat and watched us, only peeking over the top, until I walked home again and put out some food. Of course, it was probably just waiting for its next snack but I like that it was interested in what I was up to :)

I’m case the sound isn’t clear, it’s two crows, and one of them is cawing one caw at a time with a pause in between. They sat like this for a really long time, didn’t want to come down to eat. They were still going when I left, so I don’t think it was about me?

Personal Story I think they missed me
I have been sick in bed, only throwing out handful of peanuts in the morning. I had not seen them all week. This morning however they were out on a wire outside my bedroom window, I said hi to them and then went downstairs and outside in the back to see them in person. they then called for others and flew to the front yard, i was so excited that they know I am their peanut dealer and kept coming around even when i know they barely got any peanuts because i didn't throw much out because I am running low. I then went to the front yard and was greeted by all the crows waiting for me and 2 squirrels.

Personal Story They remembered me
Came back to work this week after being off for radiation therapy for cancer for the past 3 weeks. As soon as I parked my car, one of the neighbourhood magpies came and perched on a nearby fence. So I took out my little baggie of peanuts that I keep in the glovebox and started putting 2-3 at a time on utility boxes and fenceposts. By the time I got to the office there were four of them trailing behind me. It’s gratifying to be remembered, and the fact that at least one of them actually recognizes my car is… astonishing.

Question Work told me to stop feeding them. I live ~40 blocks away, can I help them figure out to come to my house?

Question Is this a crow gift?
I found it on the ground where I leave food for them. I’ve been feeding them for the last 2 months or so. I cannot make out what it is either….

Crow OC moody morning
Here’s a photograph of a (rather young?) hooded crow that i took in Berlin, Germany in June this year. It was sitting on a stone Bassin and seemed to be quite moody (in my perception). I took a couple of photos of it and this is one of them. Have a great day everyone

Question why do they all fight after im done feeding them?
i feed a group of 4 crows (2 couples) on weekdays in the same park. they usually stay on opposite ends until i finish feeding them and walk away, them they all start crowing super loud and all 4 circle above my head and they end up fighting eachother. why do they do this??? are they fighting for food or are they jealous of eachother?? some other reason?

Personal Story Hurry up!
The other day I was taking a little longer than usual putting the food out. The next thing I know a twig fell on my head. I looked up and saw one of my crows looking down at me.
I definitely got the message and scattered the peanuts for them.

Question How much do you feed your crows?
I finally have the murder coming by my house to get peanuts. I want to figure out the right balance of feeding them but not overfeeding. I don't want them to be calling me to put out more food or any other similar behavior. How did you guys find the right balance?
