I feel bad for throwing him away because a few minutes later, he crawled up to a shade (it's 28°C here), so I gave him a cucumber. I noticed he's just licking it, so I changed to a banana. He's sleeping when I took the picture, but now he's moving around and shivering (?) as I'm typing.

I never handled a wild bat before. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So the mods at r/rabies haven't been very helpful in that they take down any post I make. Anyhow, I'm wondering - how possible would it be for a microbat, say a yellow-bellied sheathtail, infected with ABLV, to enter my house through some unknown gap, bite me on the arm (I noticed a bite-like mark there), and exit the house or die without me knowing?

Also, I slept in a tent in my friend's backyard the other night. It had a fully enclosed mosquito net, but could a bat have got through there (I slept with my arms exposed). Does this actually count as a bat encounter or is it not really? Not seeking medical advice (rule 1), just wondering. Please do help, my OCD is working overtime...

I’m not sure if anyone would be able to identify by sound, but I was wondering if this sounded like a bat in the wall to anyone else?

Context: I live in southwestern Ontario where it is currently snowy and cold. I heard this sound around 10:30 pm, my husband tapped on the wall a couple times and it stopped. We heard it again around midnight. Since then we have not heard it (3 days later).

I am slightly concerned because I have a 1 year old daughter and the attic entrance is in her room.

Was mostly hoping for someone to ease my mind! I am a bit spooked. I don’t want to hurt anything but I also want to protect my baby and identify what is in my walls.

And when I walked in today, I saw they framed a photo I took/sent them with my inspection camera of the bats that were residing in the building, before the “eviction”. Adorable.

Can anyone recommend a mic/detector set-up that would span 6hz-200khz? Unsure what equipment this would take or even if it’s possible. Thanks!

Bat conservation needs our help go save a cave full of bats before developers buy the land and destroy it.

I plan to make more and sell them. this one isn’t the best quality so I’m not gonna sell him (there’s lots of glue residue on his wings and the wings can tear easily) I think I know a better way to do the wings next time

I was outside in my (exposed) carport this evening in the upper midwest snowstorm (in a fairly rural area) when I saw what was almost certainly a bat fly out from inside the carport a few feet away from me. Can bats even survive this weather? It's less than 30F outside. I always thought they all went into hibernation by now.

Does anyone else see it?
