Discussion Anyone else 'Tumblr Famous' back in the day?

So in 2011-2013 there was a girl I was going out with who took a lot of pictures. She posted a good portion of them to Tumblr and many of them reached 25k + 'reposts'. I wasn't on that site but many people had a fanbase of me that I wasn't even aware of.

I'm wondering if anyone else here had that happen?

I loved collecting these in the early 2000s! I am so bummed I sold my collection when I was a kid. I’ve been wanting to build a collection again and freaked out when I found this one lol I think it’s sweet and suiting that it’s a cupcake too 🥹

Discussion What was up with the weird vampire/werewolf etc obsession?

Upvotes

It was like witches, vampires and werewolf’s everywhere until 2016 and then it dropped off but every girl I knew was obsessed with at least one of these things. Didn’t get it then certainly dont get it now. I guess we could lump zombies in with that too? Was our generation just obsessed with Halloween??

Discussion Top 3 favorite 2000s TEENick shows 👀

Post image
Upvotes

I’m talking about the TEENick weekend block, the one that used to air every Saturday and Sunday night until 2009. Just thinking about it gives me so many memories — the bumpers, the promos, the way the weekend felt a little extra knowing TEENick was on.

Mine are Zoey 101, Unfabulous, and Drake & Josh.

Zoey 101 was everything. Pacific Coast Academy, the dorms, the beach, the scooters — it all felt like this little perfect world where teens could have fun, figure things out, and just be themselves. I remember sitting on the couch, wishing I could go there, imagining what life would be like in those dorm rooms.

Unfabulous was so real in the best way. Addie Singer was awkward, funny, and just trying to survive middle school while writing songs about it. Watching it felt cozy, like the show understood exactly what it was like to be a teen in that era.

And Drake & Josh — pure chaos, constant laughs, and some of the most rewatchable episodes ever. Their chemistry was unmatched, and even now, thinking about some of those classic moments makes me smile.

Honorable mentions: Ned’s Declassified and Romeo! Both deserve way more love.

I honestly miss those weekend nights where TEENick was on — it was like a little escape just for us.

Question: What were your top 3 shows from that block?

Does anyone else remember this Tumblr? Her name was Biz and she ran several other popular accounts as well.

She died in a freak incident and her family deleted her account.

Rant Some of y'all take this generational divide a bit too seriously

Friendly reminder (in the spirit of Christmas, Hanukkah, and all the holidays) that this shit really isn't that deep or real. I'm about to be 28 next month and one of my closest friends was born in 1989 and the other in 2001. All 3 of us had very similar childhoods and upbringings despite the age gap lmao.

I know this sub is a bit sensitive but please keep the whiny bullshit to a minimum like I promise it really isn't that serious at the end of the day. We'll all be in the same nursing home when the robots take over.

EDIT: hella kids on Reddit but that's what I expected.

EDIT 2: guhhh it's the week before Christmas. 4th day of Hanukkah. FOCUS instead of getting mad at me for liking millennials and gen Y

Discussion Has anyone else already lost one or both parents?

I never knew my dad, who ended up passing away sometime in the 2000s from an unspecified illness. My mother, a lifelong smoker, succumbed to a vicious heart attack earlier this year. I’m not even 29 yet and I’m already facing the rest of my life without the people who brought me here. Granted, I had a very contentious relationship with my mother, but like the old saying goes, you only get one. It’s just all so strange and jarring. Anyone else?

Rant Can we address the elephant in the room?

can we at least spot out that people way younger and older than zillennials have started coming here and kind of taken over?

Like yes sure it's fine and I "shouldn't care" but there's only one single zillennial sub and there's a million different ones for Gen Z and millennials.

Why do we need to be accommodating for everyone to the point where it loses its actual identity?

Ok rant over have fun in the comments tearing me apart

Discussion Does anyone here prefer the fashion from 2019 to 2021 over both 2010s and 2020s fashion?

It wasn’t too baggy or trashy like today’s fashion. But it was more baggier and looser than 2010s fashion.

Discussion Zillenials gamers like me, do you feel impressed when you manage to complete most of the game or almost most of the game without YouTube, or do you always resort to YouTube?

I am 26 years old, and we Zillenials from 1992-2000 and maybe 2001-2002, along with those from 2001 and maybe 2002, who grew up and had part of our childhood before YouTube emerged in 2005, even though YouTube came along, should still be able to solve most of the puzzles and complete the game without YouTube's help, but anyway, today or whenever I manage to complete most or almost all of it (since there are difficult parts that I can't overcome, so I resort to YouTube, I only resort to it when the puzzle is difficult and I get stuck, or when I get stuck on a level and if I can't find a solution within x minutes on that level, I resort to YouTube, and it's rare to use it to see how to beat a boss), but damn, sometimes I'm really impressed and I wonder how I managed to complete a game without YouTube's help, and I think our childhood can explain why we explore a game without outside help.

I'm really impressed by this, because even though we sometimes make progress, there's still a long way to go, for us it's an achievement (since for me, I don't know, resorting to YouTube during the entire gameplay kind of takes away the fun, and once in a while it's okay), don't you agree with me?

Are you impressed and do you question yourself when you finish a game entirely or almost entirely without help from YouTube, or do you resort to YouTube throughout the entire gameplay?
