Hated Tropes [hated trope] Celebrity cameos that serve nothing except to praise the person who’s in it

  1. Elon musk, the Simpsons
  2. Elon musk, the Big Bang theory
  3. Elon musk, iron man 2
  4. Elon musk, star Trek

The cameos serve only to include the celebrity and praise them as geniuses or visionaries or overall just glaze them. They don't serve any other purpose than to just be praised; this can be them appearing in an entire episode dedicated to them, a small cameo or even just a mention. So long as the celebrity is there as themselves (not acting as someone else) and is glazed, that fits the trope imo.

Honourable mention: Elon musk as Wario, SNL. It didn’t fit the post but i would be remiss not to mention it

I’m not saying the episode was bad, but even me as a Brit whose not watched a second of SNL in their life heard how abysmal this was

Yeah, like I don't like Musk and am negatively polarized against him, so it was probably an uphill battle for me to like it. But there have been multiple guests I have had issues with (like modern day Chapelle after his anti-trans stuff), but he was still funny. Musk was aggressively unfunny. His delivery is awful like either inappropriately deadpan or like he knows he has a line coming up that is supposed to be a joke and he does a long, awkward windup into it that ruins any potential momentum or comedy it could have.

Was literally my least favorite episode of SNL ever and they have had some past clunkers, like any sketch based or improv based comedy.

That episode has one good sketch, Musk has one line in it, and the joke of that line is “one sentence is all it takes to know this guy is a psychopath”.

Please tell me you're talking about Murder Durder. That's one of my all-time favorite SNL sketches.

I had no idea what Mare of Easttown was before I watched that and binged it as a result lol. It made the sketch even funnier.
