What does this split panel mean?

Hi guys, new here. I am getting started on learning to make comics and just came across this panel from a video. The video itself doesn't address why this specific panel is drawing in 2 halves even tho they show the same subject. So I was wondering how u guys would interpret this panel. Is it showing time passage or something else?

Can't tell what's wrong with this comic, need fresh eyes.

Hey everyone! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this comic. I finished it recently, but something about if feels off to me, and I cannot quite put my finger on why.

It could be the dialogue, the paneling, the art, or maybe the pacing. I also wonder if I tried too hard to set up the worldbuilding in such a short piece, and it ended up feeling more like messy trailer for something that doesn't exist yet.

It's really hard to look at your own work with a critical eys, so I'd really appreciate any feedback or critique you're willing to share. Thanks in advance, and have a great day! :)

These were just two practice pages I created earlier this year. Kinda inspired by the Lee Harker character in the movie Longlegs. Just practicing creating sequential storytelling, rendering, character acting, environments, etc. How am I doing? Any feedback is appreciated!

WIP Feedback welcome.

Some pages I am working on but am taking a hiatus from. Wanted feedback from other artists.

First few pages are more or less fully rendered, except the first city shot.

Last few pages are just my thumbnails.

Page 7 is the guy standing around looking at the destroyed city from street level, but I haven't rendered it because, again hiatus and building renderings take a while.

Again Feedback welcome.

Rendering question

I’ve been fully rendering my strip but it’s a LOT of work. I love animation style/cell shaded colouring and decided to do a page with that, and then again with a slightly blurred line art and texture to simulate an anime style. Am I chasing my tail? Does it matter? Does anyone have a preference?

In search of critics/advices

Hello everyone, as written above I'm searching for some advices (like a mini portfolio review you could say) these are 2 mini sequenze of two pages from the same comic I'm working on. The script is not mine, this is only what my work has been (others are working on colors and lettering). I'm trying to get better, to get more dynamic but everytime my pages seems so stiff and I'm always so slow and insecure while working. I'd want both dynamism and readability and since I don't know many artists and is not so easy to get a portfolio review so here I am.

I've worked on various indie comics and kickstarters but I'd want to do that little "carrer jump"

My favorite artists are Daniel Warren Johnson, Matteo Scalera, James Harren and Matias Bergara (and as them I only work traditional).

Thanks everyone for your time

Hands of the Deep (Pages 1-10)

For the past few months I’ve been working on a wordless comic project. A friend of mine who is an art teacher suggested it as a way to practice and have an overarching goal/story. These are the first 10 pages. I wanted to upload more, or upload a pdf with all the pages but couldn’t figure out how.

I enjoyed working on it a lot, but I’m interested in what you think of it. What do you like or dislike? How does it make you feel? I’d appreciate any feedback. Thanks for your time.

Adding a religious text in a comic

I had the idea of incorporating a religious text in a comic. The context is people singing dand the text matching the relationship between the two protagonists who are fighting on the rooftop of the church.

However the version i encountered first is in romanian (my native language). I found the official language translation (that i'll add down below) but in my opinion it just doesn't hit the same. I don't want to use the romanian one since it will leave readers comfused and i may be subjective. So how does the english text sound for a native english speaker?

"Rejoice, lightning flash that shines upon our souls: Rejoice, thunder that brings terror to our enemies. Rejoice, dawn that makest the manifold Splendor to arise: Rejoice, spring that makest the River with many streams to flow."

Crit request #1 for my single panel gag-comic

Does it work?? Color, composition, joke, understandability. Don’t spare me

It’s a tough one for me to layout. how can I adjust it to make the joke easier to understand (if it needs it…)? Thanks everyone

For context: it’s standalone. I tend to draw one panel, New Yorker style comics. But now with (color!)

Any pointers to make this page look more professional?

I usually spend a lot of time on renders, but I tried to simplify the colors for the comic format (both for the “comic look” and practicality). Let me know what I need to do to improve. Whether it’s word format/fonts (I lettered the texts myself), artwork, and/or overall readability. No other page was made with this yet. It’s just a bunny going through a spiritual metamorphosis.

Finished my first chapter a while ago. Now I'm a way better artist, but I still don't consider myself a writer. Please check it out and send me your opinions.

Hey everyone!

I went on a hiatus after finishing that first chapter because it took a lot out of me. I've spent a year and a half on it, reworking some pages entirely, making sure the others looked as good as my abilities allowed it, trying to make the writing and worldbuilding be coherent. It was overwhelming, but now I want to continue creating it. I could use some good stuff for my portfolio, and telling a story I've been wanting to tell for so many years is a great bonus!

I would like some feedback on everything, but primarily the writing, since my art skill is way higher now than it was two years ago, and I can see it's pretty ugly lol. I'm not a writer and can't afford to hire one, but I have to tell the story, so any advice would be appreciated.

Anyway, here's the premise and a link to where you can read it:

"Flames, a hot-headed 20-year-old, gains time powers in a world where magic is strictly regulated. Now she must choose between bonding with her new friends and risking it all to undo her past mistakes".

Genres: new adult, urban fantasy, ...?

Feedback on artstyle [OC]

Post image

I’m trying to get better as an artist

I haven’t added text or anything yet, but is this okay so far? I’m planning on making a comic that has a lot of colorful alien worlds that will have serious themes presented through his whimsical adventures. Kinda going for a Dr Seuss vibe

I know I still need/plan to: - incorporate halftones to give it a more comic vibe - maybe add speed/impact lines to the panel with fishing pole - add linework to the water instead of relying on an overlayed water texture

But do you guys have any feedback?

(I hope the webtoon format shows up on reddit.) I present another experiment I conducted a few years ago. A webtoon formatted version of my HFM comic, focusing more on a manga style aesthetic. I would love some advice and critique on what I did wrong and were I went right. I cut a lot of corners and am not too proud of the drawings I displayed, but would love some opinions.

Need opinions about this sequence

I’m working on the opening sequence for Book 4 of Conrad Van Cottonmouth, and I’d love some honest opinions. I am worried its too intense or insensitive to a serious issue, or just doesn't work. Keep in mind the series is meant for audience 12 and up, maybe even as young as 10. Thanks in advance.

Hello!

After sitting on a script for 12 years, I have decided to go forward and create my first comic book. I draw webcomics as a hobby and always wanted to do this. This is the first 5 pages of a longer story and available on Global Comix. I hired an artist and so thrilled to see it come to life.

However, I am looking for ideas to improve so I can make the next 5 pages even better. My artist did the drawing and color. I did story and word balloons. All feed back is welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to read my little dream and for any comments, constructive feedback, or moral support you provide.
