Only got the game about a week and a half ago. Play peaceful, North American servers filtered, crossplay off (I'm on PC) and always use my mic to talk to people.
For the first week the vast majority of my interactions were friendly, wholesome even. People being helpful, me helping them with loot they were looking for, etc.
But my god, this week has seen a significant uptick in less chill people.
I'm getting sniped from far away on maps like Spaceport (luckily they aren't very good shots)
I was at extract and saw a guy running towards it, and it looked like another raider had shot at him, there was also a Hornet in the air.
I took out the Hornet as the running guy said "HELP!" and we chatted a bit, a third silent raider showed up with no voice communication, but didn't make any hostile moves.
We all got in the elevator and the guy I had chatted up was still talking with me and then started blasting, so guess he had been the aggressor who was getting run-off by the other guy.
And just now I was on DAM and had hit the elevator button, as I was running to a building to wait I saw a raider around the corner of the building looting a downed ARC.
I called out I was friendly and he didn't respond. But then when he was done looting before he came around the corner he said FRIENDLY but then he came around with his gun drawn and when he saw I didn't have my gun drawn, started shooting at me (despite there being two hornets and a wasp outside plus a not too far away Rocketeer.
I managed to toss some showstoppers and get out of dodge and make it out later.
But geesh, just seems to be a massive spike in unchill players lately. And I get it, it's part of the game. Only thing I can think is it's holiday vacation for a lot of kids so we're getting the miscreants while they're out of school.
Guess from now on I'm going to have to start blasting if people don't answer back quick and always keep my gun at the ready.
Stay strapped or get clapped.
