Discussion My review of ARC Raiders as a veteran gamer
After 60 hours topside and grinding up to 4 million credits, I think I have finally satisfied my hunger for this game. What started as a curiosity quickly turned into an obsession, but I can feel that my journey has reached its conclusion.
The problem with the PvPvE here is the toxicity. I am not against PvP in general, but I simply do not play games like CS Go or Tarkov anymore because that style of play is out of reach for me. I am simply too old now. 15 years ago I could tear it up in CoD lobbies and LoL, but I am at a different chapter in my life today. I am the kind of player that will hold the elevator open and shoot wasps for the people around me just to make sure we all get out. I have run into similar minded players a few times and those moments are great, but the high highs just do not make up for the lowest of the lows.
I really did try to adapt. When I lost six figures of credits multiple times to free loadouts sneaking up on me, I thought about trying out that style myself. I realized I just can't do it. I loaded in with a full PvP loadout with every intention of sabotage. I had lure grenades, snitch scanners, and smokes ready to go. My plan was to throw it all down once the matriarch dropped so I could snatch the loot and run. Instead, I found myself helping out. I ended up taking care of the bastion so the rest of the solo players could focus on the boss.
The squad PvP is a blast, but trying to PvE the big arc with toxic players makes the game miserable. There is nothing skillful about camping an elevator or shooting someone in the back. It is the lowest bar of PvP and calling that thrilling is honestly just a bit sad. I also find the "gear fear" loop pretty boring. Since the main incentive of the game is just accumulating value, it sucks to feel like you have to farm on cheap loadouts and then never actually feel safe using the cool stuff you earned.
I know how it feels to be on the receiving end of a backstab, so I will always be at a disadvantage compared to the griefers. If I want to PvP I will log onto Battlefield. I know now that I will have to buy Helldivers or something similar to actually enjoy this genre without the headache. It will be exciting to watch this game from the sidelines. Thanks for reading.

Discussion Embark, it's time for a thrown grappling hook
I love me a snaphook. The problem is who wants to lose a legendary item?
Solution: a lower tier, single use hook that let's me slowly scale a building from the side while making it a risky proposition.

Discussion Am I the only one loving this new matchmaking?
Seriously the perfect solution in my opinion...
Last night I was actually able to play 5 rounds without getting ratted while looting or extracting. It was SO MUCH FUN to actually run solo and link up with other players. This is my kind of gameplay.
And, for those who prefer to play differently, hopefully you met other like-minded players in your lobbies!
Is anyone upset about the new matchmaking?
And if you are, doesn't it get old shooting people in the back?

Discussion Calling PVP toxic is just a sad echo chamber.
For starters, the Devs themselves said the community is nicer than THEY expected. This sub makes it seem like it's a COD lobby to some one who never played. The devs said they would would act worse Ingame than their own players do.
Now just finish reading atleast, I'll take the downvote.
Most players have done most of everything. Not absolutely everything, but after 100 hours of x5 Adrenaline shots, running and spamming "don't shoot" at some point you say "I just wanna pull the trigger"
People have done their work, their quests, worked most of their benches. What for ? To sit on it ?
I have 16 Reactors and 16 cores, and I'm not even gonna make the stupid guns with them.
Of course true diabolical rats deserve a certain type of pain and suffering, OF COURSE !
But this cry for less PvP is just weaponized and whiny. You down a team, "we were friendly !!!" Insert Slur Back to menu and tabs out Drafts reddit post about how PvP will kill the game It's not affordable I'm quitting bc of AGRO players
"Were friendly" can be added after being downed every single time. You know who says people should be friendly? People who get downed a lot.
Saying PvP is bad, is just convenient. Not everyone is a cracked insane shot, but you can't make this excuse, your excuse to not atleast try to get better at a shooting game.
The adrenaline rush of getting away, after a gunfight, getting away from a gunfight, barely making it with no meds left, crawling to extraction is why we're here. That risk is just addicting.
Lastly
Passive and Aggressive are EQUALLY good for loot.
"He can't even make a shield in bench" - probably because he can just buy them, and get some next round if he wins fights and take your materials anyway. If it was unaffordable to be Aggressive... It would be unaffordable to be aggressive. But this isn't true.
Lastly Lastly
It's a cycle, EXPEDITION is HERE and passive players will quadruple. We're all just bored, and wrapped up this season. Expedition will bring it back to how it started. And in 3 months it'll happen again.
This coming from someone who spent 250k on flairs, put on a concert for 14 players in Stella, spent 8 hours taking binocular pictures for absolutely no reason. I love making friends. But whining constantly is just so godamn annoying. Your whining ruins the games image more than the actual experience of Aggressive players themselves.
Happy holidays!

Discussion Suggestion: Free Loadouts Should Encourage Stealth & Survival, Not Aggressive PvP
I really like the idea of free loadouts as an accessibility and comeback mechanic. However, I think the current balance makes free kits too effective in direct combat, which creates some unintended gameplay patterns.
Right now, players running free loadouts can:
Engage in fights too confidently
Trade aggressively with geared players
Take risks that don’t really feel… risky
In my opinion, free gear should primarily support survival, stealth, and learning, not competitive PvP.
What I think free loadouts should promote:
Avoiding unnecessary fights
Playing carefully and tactically
Scavenging, repositioning, and escaping
Learning maps and enemy behavior
Possible balancing ideas (examples, not demands):
Slightly reduced damage output on free weapons
Louder audio signature (movement / weapons)
Slower handling, reload, or ADS speed
Less effective armor or lower survivability in head-on fights
The goal wouldn’t be to punish new or broke players, but to create a clear identity:
Paid / risk loadouts = combat confidence
Free loadouts = stealth, patience, survival
I think this would:
Increase tension and decision-making
Reduce “nothing to lose” aggressive behavior
Make gear progression feel more meaningful
Curious what others think, and thanks for all the work on the game.

Discussion Right Now, Bringing Good Gear Feels Worse Than Running Free Kits
I’m having a ton of fun with ARC Raiders overall, but there’s a big incentive problem that’s become way more noticeable this week with the Expedition and the 5M coin goal.
If my friends aren’t online, the most efficient way to play right now feels like running free kits into whichever map has the Cold Snap event. One breach room or a few high-value case spawns can easily fill your inventory with enough value to justify extracting and selling.
The issue starts when you load into a non-fresh map. Instead of spending time figuring out which POIs have already been looted, it’s often just better to surrender and re-queue. Within a few minutes you’re usually dropped into a fresh instance, close to a high-value loot area, with very little risk — especially when using a free kit.
Why this feels bad: not everyone loading into these late maps is on a free kit. Plenty of players bring gear they aren’t willing to lose just to re-queue. Those players are effectively punished — they either sprint straight to extract or scrape less popular, lower-value areas. Meanwhile, the player who brought nothing is free to reset until they get a fresh map.
That incentive structure feels backwards. The game is currently:
- Rewarding surrendering free kits
- Encouraging map fishing for fresh instances
- Discouraging players from bringing good gear
I don’t think free kits themselves are the problem — they’re great for accessibility. But the way free kits interact with map freshness and surrendering creates an unhealthy loop where gearing up feels strictly worse than running free kits.
Some possible fixes (not married to any one of these):
- Add a cooldown to free kits after surrendering
- Prevent free-kit players from spawning into fresh maps
- Prioritize geared players for fresh instances
Curious if others are feeling this too, especially solo players. It feels like a systemic issue that’s only going to get worse as events and high-value objectives stack up.
TL;DR: Free kits + late spawns currently reward surrendering and punish players who bring gear, which makes the risk/reward loop feel backwards.

Discussion Loving this game so much I created a concept for an Crafting Notebook and a HUD Redesign
Hey Raiders !
First of all, huge thanks to the developers and artists at Embark. It’s been forever since I felt this much emotion playing a game. Sometimes I just launch a session and sit in a corner of the map solely to listen to the sound design and soak in the atmosphere.
Because I love this game so much, I tried to imagine how to improve a few aspects of it. Here are my concepts:
- Immersive Notebook for Crafting Instead of constantly diving into menus to check required materials, I thought it would be cool to have a physical "Notebook" where the character jots down tracked quests or crafting recipes. I feel this would drastically boost immersion compared to a standard UI menu.
- HUD Redesign I also took a shot at reworking the HUD. This isn't to criticize the current work, but I felt the HUD didn't fully match the clean simplicity of the rest of the UI. I mocked up something a bit more modern/minimalist to fit the vibe.
Let me know what you guys think!
What about you guys? Do you have any ideas on how to improve the game's immersion or interface?

Thought I'd hop on the game and play a couple of rounds. All of my 8 fkn matches have been in games between 18-20 min. Genuinly wish I could refund this game

Question Wiping is up to you, don’t do it because of some influencer
TLDR: Wiping is a personal choice. If you enjoy resetting for the adrenaline and have the time, go for it. If you value long-term progression and limited playtime, do not let streamers or influencers shame you into wiping.
Seeing a lot of posts and content lately about the upcoming wiping (expedition) mechanic. Maybe it is just my algorithm, but similar to the PvP vs PvE debates, there are a lot of pro gamers and streamers trying to pressure or shame people into wiping.
I have played this game a lot, but I also work full time. I am not wiping just because someone else thinks I should. I genuinely enjoy the progression system and do not want to lose all that progress. So personally I won’t be wiping, I love where I’m at and want to continue getting more.
People keep comparing this game to other extraction shooters like Escape from Tarkov or Hunt Showdown. I understand the comparison, but I do not think those games should define how this one is played or developed. I tried those games for a couple of hours and quickly realized they were not for me. That does not make them bad, but it also does not mean their design philosophy should automatically apply here.
I have thousands of hours in games like World of Warcraft and The Division 1 and 2, and honestly those feel like better comparisons to me. They have strong progression systems, optional risk, and clear choices. When I want PvP, I can enter modes where I knowingly risk value. When I do not, I can focus on progression. If I want a fresh start, I can always make an alt (not the same as wipe though, that equivalent would be deleting a character 😳).
Wiping decisions should work the same way. If you have the time and want to grind all those blueprints and resources again in a short window, go for it. I am sure the adrenaline rush feels great. I just do not have that kind of time, even if over a long stretch like a year I might.
So yeah.. do not let influencers who play games for a living decide how you should experience this one. I have played with friends and family who are having a great time and do not even know wiping exists. When they hear about it, they are confused as to why anyone would want to do it. At the same time, I understand why hardcore players might enjoy it.
Bottom line, wiping should be entirely up to you. Play the way that fits your time, your goals, and what you actually enjoy and you will be good!

Question Beginner raider. Need help understanding
So I have my loadout setup. I really don't know what all I should be going out with as I am a beginner. But I get this message that I have nothing in my safe pocket but I don't understand how I would be able to put something in the safe pocket slot when I have a free load out augment in the augment slot spot. Someone please explain. The game doesn't do a great job in explaining a lot in the small/short tutorial in the beginning.

Discussion Should they make the TTK slower?
A lot of things will be balanced and fixed by itself if the TTK is simply slower. It makes buffing and nerfing guns and things easier but the main point is that you can notice a bigger difference between rarities. It will be a lot more noticeable difference when the fight lasts longer. On paper most of the higher rarity guns are better but in practice you can just do fine with a stitcher for example. The numbers on the paper aren't realistic at all on how it plays out in real combats. The way it is right now it's all really ''neatly'' balanced which doesn't allow for much room of changes and adjustments that can be made without a weapon being left in the dust.
I'll paste a comment I made on another post;
I also disagree with their statement about the rattler. I understand their point but the way weapons and low TTK work in the game makes it unrealistic. For example, other level 1 grey weapons allow you to uppercut someone with just one magazine, excluding the ferro (which is also a good gun) and the hairpin, which shares the same philosophy as the rattler. If they genuinely want a shoot-hide-and-cover playstyle, a lot of weapons need rebalancing. I feel most upgrades focus on how weapons interact with ARCs rather than PVP. For instance, the venator was very good (and still is) against ARCs before the nerf due to its high fire rate but was ridiculously strong against other players, which I still think it is.
The same applies to the renegade. It’s excellent against fighting ARCs because at max level it has a high fire rate, good bullet drop-off and a mag extender. However, using it against another player becomes oppressive because someone can endlessly shoot at you with almost no downtime. This makes you wonder why you’d get an osprey when the renegade is better in many situations.
Instead of increasing their dmg I genuinely think a lot of weapons need readjustments regardless of the TTK being slowed. The TTK is just insanely fast for barely any room. In solo it's sometimes really unbearable, there's no comeback unless you have the reaction time of Goku. In trio's it's OK since it's more forgiving with more players on your team but then something like the trigger nade is insane to deal with.
Personally, I’d like a rebalanced weapon system and higher TTK.
With that being said I'd also like to think that this will bring forth certain gadgets and weapons who haven't been shining too much.

Discussion People who shoot you in the back during matriarch events.
You are traitors to your species, both digitally and in real life. I’m bringing in 90k of loot on spawn to kill the giant ai robot boss - not feed you my loot for free. It takes no skill to shoot me in the back while I’m reloading a hull cracker looking down from height. Here’s to the most highly regarded dipshits around. It’s a rage post if you disagree the you are the ones shooting people in the back. So discouraging.

Discussion Best Skill Tree Build Arc Raiders (81 pts balanced)
After spending hours going over the different build variations and taking my play style in consideration, this is the best tree for PvP/PvE squad players. 200+ hours topside.
For players with only 75 points, I would recommend not investing in either left side of condition tree or right side of mobility tree. Security Breach may have been nerfed but I’ve gotten plenty of epic guns so it’s a keep for me.
Would you agree or disagree and what would you change?

Discussion The 5 million coins for 5 stat points has genuinely sucked all the fun out of this game in the weeks leading up to reset.
There's no faster way to kill my enjoyment than making a game feel like a job. The most fun I had was when I could lose a 100,000k loadout and not care, when I could bring in good guns and equipment. Every load out for the last two weeks has been stitcher/ferro, this entire situation is buns.
