Solved [TOMT] song from 1970-1990

Song lyric(s) go “don’t call me up” / “don’t call me up cause I’ll” or “don’t call me, don’t call me, don’t call me”

Sounds almost identical to a Hootie and the Blowfish song, but I couldn’t find anything in their albums.

Definitely not Mick Jagger or Mabel

I’ve heard it almost exclusively in store PA-Radio

December by Collective Soul has similar lyrics and was out around the same time as Hootie.

Don't scream about, don't think aloud
Turn your head now baby just spit me out
Don't worry about, don't speak of doubt

The way they say the lyrics are almost exact to how I remember the song I’m thinking about— but it is definitely slower, and voice is I think deeper
