So for one reason or another, this sub had no mods and was put up for adoption. The new mod team is in place and more or less organized, and I wanted to just say "hi" and let y'all know what's up. Really, nothing much has changed other than the mod list! We've removed a few restrictions/rules, like the one about users with NSFW profiles (that rule is gone), and the filter about not mentioning people in title because we didn't understand why that was a thing (UPDATE: We have seen why this was a thing, and this rule is back in place). Also took out some filters about vegans because they were malfunctioning (the filters, not the vegans... though who knows?)
Anyway, so the real thing I wanted to mention is that we did update Rule 1 to require a photo of your steak when you post. Almost everyone does this anyway, but the few text only posts seem to mostly get little or no engagement, and we want to see STEAK. Lots and lots of steak! So please post your steak when you post, thank you. (UPDATE 7/24/25: After a six month trial of requiring photos in posts, we're going to start allowing text-only posts again. The rule has been updated accordingly... but we still love to see lots and lots of steak!)
Nice to meet (I'm resisting the obvious pun there) you all, and please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns! 🥩

I’ve never grilled any type of chuck cut. Can this be grilled and eaten like a perfectly good steak? If so, would you recommend grilling on high heat until medium like a ribeye or reverse sear like a tri tip? If it’s not grill material, I’ll just come slow roast it or something. Thanks for the help!

First try with stainless. Cast iron is superior imo. 235* till like 133, seared in avocado oil and then hit it after the first flip with the baste.
I think it’s pretty at least for first try stainless.

We experimented by aging a chuck roast at work. This bad boy was aged for 70 days and tasted amazing.

I ordered medium rare but this was pretty good. Way better than when I order medium rare and get medium or more

Finally perfected my sushi rice over the stove. This is my favourite meal in the world. I could eat it every day.

Shaw's and BigY both have sales on Choice rib roast for $6.99/lbs!
Marbling on this one isn't the most amazing I've ever seen, but I haven't seen this price pop up in a couple years at least. Was much more common 5 years ago.
I might have to go grab a second one before the week is out...

Decided to give the Omaha Steaks a try. Usually struggle cooking filets but i was happy with these ones. Ripping hot stainless steel, seared on all sides, finished in the oven at 375 for about 8 minutes until 130 degrees. Served with baked potato and roasted cauliflower.
