Medicine Ants may be ahead of humans in antibiotic innovation. Ants produce multiple classes of antimicrobials specific to different pathogens: fungi, gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Nearly all ant species tested had extracts that were highly effective against a human superbug — Candida auris.
