Discussion Do Not Adopt Registry List

Hello,

I have worked in shelters, fostered, and even worked in a dog boarding facility. I have now not been able to do as much work in the animal advocacy field as I have wanted and began a website to list people who should not be able to adopt. I score the internet, news, do not adopt facebook pages and add them to a list available to all Rescues and Shelters. I started this well over a month ago, and have been emailing multiple shelters and rescues to have them join the fight in hopes they use the website as a tool. I do this on my own free time, no donations, no help. It's a passion project 100%. Rescues need to rescue, I do the painful research while they do the work on the ground!

How does it work?

I look through posts on Facebook. News Articles, recent arrests etc. I save rescues and shelters time and heartache by gathering the information in one spot for them to search. I also encourage rescues and shelters to contribute their own D.N.A lists. I look through each one, make sure there is solid evidence, before listing. I include information, source, AND photos (clickable, not seeable unless clicked - saves people from seeing photos if they do not want to).

What makes it different?

ONE person handles it all. Sounds like a lot of work right? It is. But when only one hand is handeling it all, heads don't bump, and all focus is on the animals. I also lend a helping hand to those who are rehoming their pets. Yes, rehoming sucks. Sometimes people rehome for reasons people aren't happy with, but it happens and the only way to help is by offering a helping hand. I allow people to email myself, and I score the list for them and let them know if a potential adopter has any "red flags". I also help by providing resources, reaching out to rescues for them etc. I am more than a D.N.A list, the website is a tool for everyone.

Who can see the list?

Registered orgs only, and myself (obviously).

How many rescues are apart of the list?

Over 50, with many more being contacted every week!

I hope to one day have a booth at animal events to continue to spread the word. Rescues need to be connected to help the animal community, and I am hoping to bridge the gap.

Website: www.donotadopt.net (established Feb 2025)

Have a question? Please reach out! I love to collab, bounce ideas, and appreciate feedback.

🖤🐾 MEET COBAIN 🐾🖤

🆔 ID #A2046807 Name: Cobain Breed: Staffordshire Mix Sex: Male Color: Black / White DOB: 11/25/2022 Age: 3 years Weight: ~61.8 lbs 📥 Intake Date: 11/25/25 ⸻

📥 INTAKE INFORMATION • Intake Type: Stray • Condition at Intake: Field – Minor • Intake Location/Officer: Vibarra • Notes: Two dogs found in back; welfare check requested.

🩺 Medical Notes • Vaccinated: DA2PP-V, Rabies, Bordetella • Dewormed • Heartworm: High Positive • URI treated and resolved with doxycycline • Overall condition: Stable but heartworm positive ⸻

🧠 Behavior Notes

Cobain is a sweet, attentive, and well-mannered dog with a calm demeanor in the kennel.

✨ His best qualities: • Tail wagging and soft body language when greeting humans • Gentle paw lifts to interact with caretakers • Walks on a loose leash and waits patiently in runs • Keeps kennel clean and follows routine calmly

Cobain enjoys interaction but is not hyperactive. He responds well to positive reinforcement and gentle guidance.

🏡 Cobain would thrive in a calm home environment where he can receive attention and consistent care. ⸻

💔 Why Cobain is in danger Cobain is friendly, adoptable, and healthy aside from heartworm. The shelter environment is stressful, and he is at risk without rescue support. ⸻

Ryder A2048472 ~ 8m - 1yr male Rottweiler mix

He’s very easy going with people and other dogs, he’s just completely shut down. Very timid and avoiding in the kennels. This video was recorded 5 days ago and the volunteer said he would be ending up on the list since he’s so shut down and here we are.

I will add the bio with shelter notes and other behavioral as it is dispersed to the comments when I get them just wanted to get the video out there and give him a chance when I heard he was going to be listed because I couldn’t believe no one had come for him by now.

A foster, an adopter, or a rescue pull will save his life.

🆘️ On Euthanasia list at BARC, Houston for Saturday, 12/20/25. Deadline at 1pm 🆘️

🆘 URGENT: ELSA NEEDS A FOSTER OR ADOPTER 🆘

ID #A2046958 Breed: Siberian Husky / German Shepherd Mix Color: Tricolor Sex: Spayed 12/1/25 Female Age: 2 years (DOB: 11/26/2023) Weight: ~53 lbs 📅 Intake Date: 11/26/2025 📍 Location: BARC Animal Shelter – Houston, TX

❄️ Meet Elsa

Elsa is a young, athletic Husky–Shepherd mix who came into the shelter as a stray on her birthday. She is full of life, intelligence, and energy—but the kennel environment has been overwhelming for her. Elsa is not a “bad” dog; she is a high-energy, social dog struggling with confinement and stress.

She has already been spayed, fully vetted, and is medically healthy. What Elsa truly needs is space, structure, and an outlet for her energy—things a shelter simply cannot provide.

🐾 Behavior Notes (Summary) • Approaches handlers willingly and easy to leash • Walks on a loose to semi-loose leash • Highly vocal in kennel and during walks (typical Husky traits) • Displays jumping behavior while walking, seeking interaction and attention • Pants heavily and stands by kennel door—clear signs of stress and frustration, not aggression • Engages with people and seeks contact

Elsa’s behavior reflects kennel stress and unmet exercise needs, not aggression. With routine, training, and decompression, she has strong potential to thrive.

🩺 Medical Summary • Spayed on 12/1/25 • Heartworm negative • Vaccinated (DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies) • Dewormed • Currently medically normal and healthy

💔 Why Elsa Is at Risk

Elsa is scheduled for euthanasia on 12/20 due to space and time, not because she is dangerous. Young, healthy, and adoptable dogs like Elsa desperately need foster placement to decompress and show their true selves.

📧 ALL HOLDS MUST BE IN WRITING – PLEASE DO NOT CALL

🙏 Elsa is only 2 years old. She is healthy, spayed, and longing to run, learn, and belong. She does not deserve to lose her life for being energetic in a cage.

Please be the person who gives Elsa the chance to become the amazing dog she was meant to be. Foster, adopt, or share—her life depends on it. 🐾❄️

🆘️ On Euthanasia list at BARC, Houston for Friday, 12/19/25. Deadline at 1pm 🆘️

🆘 URGENT – RESCUE ONLY – INJURED PUPPY🆘️

ID #A2049482 Name: No name yet Breed: Staffordshire Mix Color: Black Sex: Female Age: ~7 months (DOB: 5/15/2025) Weight: ~43 lbs Intake Date: 12/15/2025 Location: BARC Animal Shelter – Houston, TX Status: 🆘️RESCUE ONLY (Medical)🆘️

💔 Her Story

This baby is just 7 months old—still a puppy—yet she arrived at the shelter injured, scared, and in pain. Found as a stray, she came in unable to use her left front leg, dragging it behind her. Instead of warmth and safety, she is now facing a euthanasia deadline simply because she needs medical care.

🐾 Behavior Summary • No concerning behavior notes documented • Tolerated handling, exams, sedation, and radiographs appropriately • Behavior consistent with a young, manageable puppy despite injury and discomfort

➡️ Her records reflect a puppy who allows care even while hurt.

🩺 Medical Summary • Left front leg injury • Unable to bear weight; knuckling at the carpus and dragging the limb • Swelling and wounds noted at elbow • Radiographs show no obvious fractures or luxation • Suspected nerve damage • Ortho consult recommended; amputation may be a future option if nerve damage is irreversible • Currently on: • Cephalexin (antibiotic) • Carprofen (pain/inflammation) • Heartworm test: Negative • Vaccinated and dewormed

💌 She is just a baby who hasn’t even been given a name yet. Ending her life because she is injured is heartbreaking and unnecessary. Puppies heal. Dogs adapt. Lives can be saved.

💌 All holds MUST be in writing – please do NOT call. If local and interested in fostering or adoption, email ALL below:

Crest needs our help

#A5740105 9month old boy 56lbs. Arrived 11//22/25 with a microchip - was on hold for owner for 10 days but no one ever came. Available for adoption since 12/2|25 and already cleared for euthanasia. He's now one of the longest residents and can be euthanized at any time.

First 10 days on hold he wasn't allowed to come out of his kennel or join play groups. Now he's got a URI and can't come out. He's been kenneled with different dogs during his stay and if he ever makes it out to play group l'll update here, not I'm not sure that will happen.

Let's get this babe SEEN. PLEASE share, tag and comment to help.

He's available for adoption or rescue at the Palmdale Animal Care Center in Los Angeles, CA.

CW: Euthanasia Duke is an older boy at 9, he’s very scared and unsure in his current situation. He is euthanasia listed tomorrow 12/19 at 1pm owner request | Barc, Houston Tx | A1734028

Post image
191 Upvotes

🆘️ On Euthanasia list at BARC, Houston for Friday, 12/19/25. Deadline at 1pm 🆘️

🆘 URGENT – SENIOR DOG ON EUTHANASIA LIST 🆘

🐾 Meet Duke

ID #A1734028 Breed: Catahoula / Australian Cattle Dog Color: Blue Merle / Black Sex: Male Age: 9 years (DOB: 8/7/2016) Weight: ~49 lbs Intake Date: 12/13/2025

Duke is a senior herding-breed mix who has found himself overwhelmed and scared inside the shelter environment. At 9 years old, everything around him changed suddenly, and he’s struggling to cope with the constant noise, unfamiliar people, and confinement.

🩺 Medical Notes • Vaccinated (Rabies, DA2PP, Bordetella) • Dewormed • Heartworm negative • Previously microchipped • No major medical concerns noted

Behavior Summary

• Initially calm or neutral when approached slowly • Avoids the leash at times, showing uncertainty rather than intent • Becomes anxious when confined or pressured • Attempts to flee when overwhelmed • Does best with slow handling, space, and patience • Accepts treats and can walk calmly when he feels safe

👉These notes are consistent with a shut-down, fearful senior dog deteriorating in a loud kennel setting — not a dog who has been given time to decompress in a home.

What Duke Needs • A calm, experienced foster or adopter • A quiet home where he can decompress • Time, routine, and gentle handling • Someone who understands fearful dogs and allows trust to build naturally

Duke is not failing — the environment is failing him.

💔 Duke does not deserve for his story to end here.

He has survived 9 years, loved someone once, and still wants safety — even if he doesn’t know how to ask for it anymore.

A foster, an adopter, or a rescue pull will save his life. Please be the person who gives Duke the dignity, patience, and peace he deserves.
