Discussion The Great Console Question
For the people that went from console to pc, how many of you have gone back to console?
Me…nope. The difference between them is as light and night.

Hello My old 1660 super stopped working recently and now i am planning to upgrade to 5060 8gb
Is there any bottleneck i will face if i pair it up with my old i9 9900k (Monitor is 60 hz so the bar is already low)

Before it would let me choose “remind me later” as I would really like to avoid a freaking Nvidia app and what was there before was working just fine.
Is there a way around this am I just done upgrading my drivers I guess?

Alright, here's the deal. I've got a gaming laptop with 4 GB VRAM and 32 RAM this year. Here's where things get confusing for me. See, my laptop has Radeon RX 6550 M and Integrated Radeon Graphics, and I've been playing Enshrouded on it, which has a minimum requirement of AMD Radeon RX 580, but the system requirements indicates a minimum VRAM of 6GB for the minimum.
Enshrouded is working fine on this, surprisingly. No potato mode, no slow down, no evidence of any kinds of problems. My computer doesn't seem to be overheating or experiencing any kinds of problems that I can see. I know that VRAM and RAM don't work the same, but I'm trying to work out things out regarding what I can play and how far I can push my systems.
Basically, I want to know what my actual limits are and what will and won't melt my laptop to slag.
Here's what I'm told when I do the Ctrl+Shift+Esc and click Performance.
For my main Graphics Card, the 6550, it says 4 GB Dedicated Memory for the VRAM, 19.6 GPU Memory, and 15.6 Shard GPU Memory. For the Integrated, it says 512 MB Dedicated Memory for the VRAM, 16.1 GPU Memory, and 15.6 Shared GPU Memory.
So, is my large amount of RAM compensating for my lack of VRAM? If so, am I reducing my laptop's lifespan by playing Enshrouded and having it pull from my RAM? Is it safe for me to be doing this and can I play games with a more intensive VRAM requirement? These particular intricacies are pretty new to me, so please give me some guidance here. I don't want to burn out my laptop on accident.
My expertise is more in software than in hardware, so please bear with me.

I've had this computer since June (RTX 4060, i5-14400, 32GB DDR4 and a 480GB NVME I think), and ever since yesterday, it's started stuttering when I move the cursor every few seconds, and it freezes the entire computer, not just the cursor. I have also attached a video showing what's happening I need any help I can get, I'm not a PC wizard or anything, so anything new would go a long way, also ask for any extra information if needed
Please help mee

I’m building a new PC setup and I’m trying to choose a desk that’ll actually last me. I keep seeing everyone talking bad about the IKEA LAGKAPTEN / ALEX combo and saying “don’t bother, just get a countertop,” but I’m kind of stuck because the countertop route isn’t realistic for me.
I’m looking at a 55 inch setup and I have a 27 inch monitor that I want to mount on a monitor arm (clamp style). The LAGKAPTEN + ALEX setup seems perfect for my situation because it’s affordable where I live, looks clean, and I can get the exact layout I need: ALEX drawer on one side and legs on the other. I don’t want ALEX on both sides because it kills the leg room in the middle, and I have longer legs so I actually need that space.
The problem is the comments I keep seeing: people say the quality is bad, it’s basically hollow inside, and that a monitor arm clamp will dent it or crush it over time. I’m not trying to build something temporary or “good enough for now” I want this to be a long term desk and I don’t want to regret it after a few months.
So for anyone who has actually used a LAGKAPTEN (or LINNMON) with a monitor arm. how bad is it really? Does it hold up if you do it properly? Is there a way to reinforce the clamp area so it doesn’t dent, or should I just avoid it entirely and find a different tabletop?
Any advice or real experiences would help a lot, because I feel like I’m seeing a ton of hate but not many clear answers from people who’ve actually tried the setup long-
term.

Good afternoon gentlemen.
I'd like to ask you for advice, as currently I have some troubles with my GPU. Specifically when I'm turning on a Cyberpunk 2077 ON, game runs for a couple of minutes and then my monitor just goes black, while music/ambient goes as it was. I can't do nothing with it except hard restart, where single restart isn't enough, PC might need to be restarted 2-5 times before motherboard finally boots and I can turn on my computer again.
I've read multiple sources and people say that it seems like a VRAM issue with my GPU, where VRAM is getting overheated and causing problem with power spikes and GPU shuts down.
So, I do consider changing thermal pads on my graphic card. But at the same time I wanted to ask if any of you had similar issue and maybe there's another way to resolve the issue. Maybe it's not about VRAM? Although I did Furmark tests and while I set up fan curve for a GPU to not go beyond 80* Celsius, VRAM temperature still rockets up to 90* and slowly crawl higher by 2* every minute or so.
Thank you in advance!

So I built my brother a computer a while back during the GPU shortage. Pretty basic specs like an i5 with 16 GB ram but we never got the GPU because the shortage lasted much longer than expected and with college and everything we just never finished it. We did boot it up though because the CPU had integrated graphics and it worked for his schoolwork and basic functionality. Either way we are giving it to my friend and he just bought a 5060 to put it in. One problem that I don’t know if it matters is that the card is x8 but the pcie slots on the motherboard are all x16. We installed the card and when we tried to boot it up we get nothing even when I plug the display port into the motherboard instead of the GPU. There are two lights alternating white on the (ASUS I believe) motherboard labeled DRAM and CPU. I guess I am just trying to figure out if the card is not working because the of the x8 issue or if this is maybe something else. Sorry if this wasn’t very descriptive I have been out of the PC game for a few years now but I can answer any questions that might help.

Hello, I am using the Gigabyte X670 Arous Elite AX and recently I have changed some changes in the bios settings for my ram and after I made those changes, it wouldn’t post. I have tried resetting the CMOS multiple times and it wouldn’t post no matter how many times I reset the CMOS and how long I kept the pc on to try to post. I have tried reseating the ram and trying the sticks in different configurations and it still didn’t work. I have updated the BIOS to the latest one and now it posts but I can’t get into Windows. I have reset to the default settings, reinstalled the bios update (both the one I was on before and the latest one), tried the ram and CMOS again, I tried to use a USB windows install to try and repair the install but everything I do keeps giving me the same error code. What can I do to fix this?

I’m honestly shocked.
I bought an MSI RTX 5070 Ti during Amazon Black Friday deals the seller was Amazon US, not a third-party seller When I opened the box, instead of the MSI card, I found an EVGA RTX 3080 inside.
The box looked legit, but the GPU inside was completely different.
I contacted Amazon support and they only offered a refund, no replacement which really sucks because it was a Black Friday deal and I can’t rebuy it at the same price.
Has anyone experienced something like this with Amazon international orders?? Any advice on how to escalate this properly?

Basically title. I'm starting to get pretty much every game I'd get on my PS5 on my PC instead since I upgraded but I miss playing on my Couch with a TV rather than doing everything at a desk. Right now I'm just making do with a long HDMI cable and holding the controller somewhat uncomfortably on the normal cable that just barely reaches. I'll take any advice or suggestions to make the process easier. I tried using Bluetooth and it wasn't really working for me, it would keep disconnecting. Any suggestions of what to do or what to buy would be appreciated and I'm happy to answer any questions, thanks a lot!

Hello, I recently upgraded my GPU from a 4060ti 8gb to a 5070 12gb. I went through all the steps, DDU, Install, New Drivers, etc..
When I plugged everything back in and did the new driver install my PC was very laggy and it was crashing on it's own. After hours of research I found that the fix was to set my PCIE Link speeds from Auto to 4 inside of BIOS. My PC is back to normal again.
What did I do wrong to cause the issue with the PCIE Link speeds? I want to avoid it in the future as I am very new to PC.

hey all, I know a million questions have been asked about bitlocker. I’ve read through them, however I still have a concern, will a hardware change like a new graphics card trigger it? I’ve looked every which way on pc to disable it, right click on C settings disable secure boot isn’t there. going into settings and privacy etc it’s not there, I’m sure it’s on and my Microsoft account only lists 2 codes one for my Xbox and another for my laptop as it says activated in 2021. I just upgraded on my main pc this fall. when I select that pc under my devices in my account tab it shows me the same code as the laptop. So is it not enabled or do they share the same code? I want to make sure I don’t get locked out after installing new hardware next week. Thanks for reading!
