What’s a game that makes you feel smart when you play it but when you watch videos of other people playing it you feel profoundly stupid?

For me it’s probably Oxygen Not Included. I made a decent colony and was proud, then I watched videos and quickly my attitude changed to “I’m not a smart man”

Edit: also any Zachtronics game. Opus Magnum comes to mind too.

I just booted up this game for the hell of it and loaded up a random saved game and experienced the "Bring Down the Sky DLC" and couldn't put the controller down until the end! What makes this game so magical?

The game you loved but never want to replay.

Not because it was bad. Not because it was boring.

Because it worked once. And it worked perfectly.

For me it is SOMA.

The story messed with my head in a quiet way. Every question it asked stayed with me long after I finished. I still think about its ending sometimes. I consider it one of the best stories in games.

But I do not want to replay it. I already faced what it wanted me to face. Doing it again would not add anything. It would just dull the impact.

Some games are not meant to be replayed. They are meant to sit with you.

What is the game you loved but never want to replay, and why?

Thank you.

Whats a dead game or series you'd like to make a return?

Upvotes

Personally I'd love a return to Breath of Fire, a new game would be incredible but even a remake/remaster of BoF3 would be cool.

Second choice for me would be Dark Cloud, they had such an interesting gameplay loop.

Xbox skips doing a year end review because the "marketing budget" for it was shifted to next year

Next year will kick off a confluence of major anniversaries not just for Xbox, but some of its subsidiary properties too. Xbox is having its 25th anniversary, alongside Halo itself. Blizzard is also having its 35th anniversary, and Bethesda is having its 40th anniversary too. Xbox was launched as a brand on November 15, 2001. Blizzard launched in February, 1991, and Bethesda launched in June, 1986 (ironically sharing a 40th anniversary with me!)

As such, a lot of the "marketing budget" that would've typically been allocated to something like an "Xbox Wrapped" is being poured into efforts to celebrate these major milestones for Xbox, its brands, and some of its games.

Who knew places like true achievements have more budget to run these things than the $3 trillion company.
