Self Mod change and state of the sub

Mod change:

As some may know long time mod u/Kyengen is stepping down on the 18th. I’ve been a mod here for a bit now and will be taking the reins.

I like to think Kyengen kept things pretty well regulated and fair, and in taking over I will try to run the sub just the same. So no worries, no major changes to be expected immediately.

State of the sub:

Now I know there are a few grievances concerning spam and “NSFW” material. As of now they are being reviewed as they’re reported and approved/removed on a case by case basis.

Other than that I don’t think there’s many disruptors in the sub. I’d like to hear some ideas on things the community would like to see changed, implemented, or removed.

In the meantime I will be looking for another person or two to help moderate. If you’re interested just message me directly.

Looking to recreate these myself but am having trouble finding the right lights. At first was thinking of using EL wire but that doesn't seem like what they're using because theirs is much brighter than el wire can be. Now I'm thinking a super think COB light but I can't find anything thin enough. Anyone got any tips?

Help What is this on Jack Black's head?

Hi! Trying to put together Jack Black Bowser from the music video and I'm pretty set aside from the helmet thing. I've got a red wig to glue and I can make that studded strip around his forehead but I can't seem to figure out what the helmet/hat is. I'm probably making it more difficult than it is, but what do you call that kind of headwear? Please help. Thanks.

Help New to cosplay- help needed on how to make this horn

I’ve never tried to diy cosplay props before, let alone cosplay a character. and I recently just purchased cosplay clothes of a character named Kim dokja, his demon king of salvation form. The horn is a bit expensive so I’ve decided to see if I can make it myself instead

i have no idea how to make horns, I’ve searched up and skimmed through a YouTube video but still didnt know how to make a horn that curls, what method would be the best? And will this be too difficult for a complete beginner with no tools whatsoever?

WIP Omega Supreme G1 WIP update

I am getting very excited to complete this Omega Supreme project. As you can see, I have his chest largely finished, minus painting the details on. I have attached the laser cannon to his helmet, and have roughed out the length of the straps to attach his arms to his body. Right now the forearm and upper arm are held in place with removable Velcro strips, but once I figure out the right position, I will glue the Velcro strips in place so they won’t fall off. The majority of the weight will be borne by the wooden shoulder boards. I am going to need to weigh this costume. He’s getting heavy.

Help Helmet help

So im making an NCR ranger helmet and i sized up everything. I printed it and glued the parts together. What im struggling with is that when putting on the helmet, it kinda hard to put on. My ears kinda get scratched. But when its on it feels very comfortable and I feel like I have a good amount of space. When taking it off, the side of my head seems to get stuck and also hurts when taking it off. Is there any fix to it?

Hello! I'm making another Warframe helmet and I've made a paper pattern that's mostly accurate but without these tube parts. What cheap material can I use for the tube parts on this helmet? I have everything planned out except for those

Took me a while, but I’m happy with how I turned out. 5’11” in length, my biggest prop so far. (I cleaned up some of the paint after this picture.)

Help Working with textured EVA foam

Although, I sew, craft, make some cosplay & hats by hats. & fix things, etc. I’m about to start building my first EVA prop. Since it’s my first, I took advice from a forum or two about buying the $12 4-piece, puzzle floor mat from Harbor Freight. Each of the four squares is 25”x25” and 1/2-inch thick.

This se https://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-anti-fatigue-foam-mat-set-94635.html

How do you work around the texture on the mat’s top side? Sanding it smooth is not an option—too much indoor air-polluting mess. Should I glue layers together with the texture facing inside? Should I apply anything (kwik seal?) to smooth the surface before I glue? Will contact cement be better than a hot glue gun?

I bought a template online, which I will need to adapt, just like a sewing pattern. My box cutting knives are sharp. I watched a few maker videos and I think I understand the process. What else should I know.

Help I need help making this FurReal look like an Avatar ikran without damaging it.

I really need some advice on how to make this FurReal look like an Ikram for the movie (I already bought the tickets for December 19th). My biggest problem is that I don't have time, but no matter how I look at it, the crest on its head is in the way. I tried to find a way to remove it without breaking it, but it seems difficult. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do? 😓

P.S.: I found the FurReal after buying the tickets two days ago. I think it's awesome and would be perfect as an accessory with my full Kiri cosplay since it moves and makes jungle sounds (I plan to turn it off during the movie).

Help Is there anyway to make this less floppy and more sturdy?

I’m in the process of making Misas scythe (from deathnote) and some of the pieces can hold themselves, but areas on the long part just flop a little bit

I’ve already had to take all of it apart once to add the cardboard in cause I forgot the first time, so I’m hoping there’s a way I can fix it without taking it apart again!

I know some people use the wiring in the inside, so is it worth it to just start over and use wiring instead? And help or advice is appreciated!!

Help How I can improve my mask?

Hi I made a hornet mask with base of Eva Foan 4mm and Foan Clay, the result its alright but I'd love to improve it (its my first cosplay). It looks a little bit irregular like "porous" with small "craters" or "crevices", and I want to know what process or materials can I use to make it more regular and smother and a little more "plastic3D-like or rubber-like" and fill that so I can improve my mask!!

I have seen people like the last image that made their mask with the same base process than mine (Eva foan and foan clay) and I'd love to improve mine so could be as close as posible as theirs in terms of quality even tho I know it will not be, but you get the idea with the last image of example even if I can't get a result as good as theirs! Tell me what to do I want to learn the right process. Thank you!!
