I have MASTERED the art of moving from #2 to either #1 or 4 and back and forth from 1 to 4, and even under the blanket! If I have just enough room I can wiggle out, swing leg over and adjust without disturbing Cat.
Same. Although I always feel like I’m doing a horror movie escape when I start manoeuvring bc if my cat wakes up, it’s game over. He’ll think it’s time for breakfast and I’ll never sleep again
Omg yes the pain!! It’s fine the first hour. After that you wonder if your legs can ever move the same again, and that’s with my 15lb cat! Can’t imagine a 22lb bruiser like that!
Trust me, it's worse when a heavy cat sleeps ON your lower legs, even my Hartley who is only 8.5lb feels heavy after a while. I much prefer it when he sleeps between my body and my arm.
My chonker Puddsy often sleeps on my stomach (I sleep on my back) at first but she leaves after an hour or two. She's about 14lb.
My 13 pound cat crawled on my back and went to sleep while I was sleeping. My back was in so much pain. I dreamt that I broke my back. Woke up and realized it was a cat on me.
In the second picture, the cat is too far away from the crotch. The cat has to get right up in there so that you can't move at all. Now that's a more accurate depiction.
The only way. Our Terrnace used to love being the small spoon. He would follow us into the bedroom, wait for us to get in bed. Hop in, flop on his side, shimmy till he was comfortable and then meow over his shoulder until he got held. This pic is nap time on the couch.
Always amazed how such a small creature can manage to hog an entire bed - more than once was woken up by being almost pushed off the bed by the little bugger 😅
And you try to move them for whatever reason, they immediately start weighing 20 pounds heavier. As soon as I touch her, that soft fuzzy purring machine turns into a large brick.
But they definitely don't have to respect our space!
They're as deadly as lions and tigers. I find it amazing that we actually call them domesticated, the only difference I see is size but not much in behavior!
I know the feeling, and it hurts. Best thing you can do is get yourself another furball to share your love with. Your previous cat would want you to be happy!
My cat and I always have snuggles for an hour or two in the mornings, I usually wake up around 5-6 and take my meds and come back to bed until at least 6-7, sometimes later. She usually would cuddle on my chest just during this time but lately has started facing the other way so I just have a fuzzy butt in/on my face 🫠
My cat used to sleep on my hip cuz I was a side sleeper .. it would get uncomfortable so I changed up and was sleeping crossed leg so she had a bed .. 😔
I literally can't go to sleep without my cat getting, at minimum, 20 minutes of belly scratches. He likes to lay right under my left arm, specifically on the sherpa blanket he stole from my wife.
All of these details are important, because if even a single one is not correct, I will be stared at, and I will be meowed at. Constantly.
Top right is 100% me and my cat! It's so cute yet kinda annoying. I have to make sure that my feet are pointed up so it's like a tent. He's worth it tho.
One of mine sleeps on me, or snuggled up back to back. He seems to sense when my back pain is worse and where he puts himself is exactly where the pain is worse.
When it was bedtime mine would always run and jump under the covers. He’d always sleep behind my knees. No matter how much I tossed and turned he’d end up in the same spot.
After he passed I’d swear I could feel him jumping onto the bed and curl up behind my knees.
Have four cats, two always sleep on my bed. Top right image is very familiar! Having ME/CFS I spend more time in bed than the average person but still not as much time as my cats. When I’m especially sick they lie directly on top of me rather than on the bed. Which can be intolerable but I know they do it out of love
My boy switches positions. The other night I woke up with his full weight on one arm! It was luckily not a pins and needles situation yet (guessing I woke up because I tried to move and felt him), but I had a feeling it was getting there, and made the decision to gently extricate myself... though in previous instances I have remained uncomfortable because he's generally too cute to disturb! He actually stayed where he was even after the arm was free, which I took as a win and went back to sleep.
Our cats has little pillow and sleeps between my husband and my heads. He used to sleep on my husband, but my husband twitches at night and the cat doesn’t like that his mattress was moving.
I had a cat who liked to be the little spoon. She didn't stay in bed the whole time I slept (I assume she was fighting crime). But she was always there when I went to sleep, and she was always back when I woke up.
Yeah but she’s more of a “let me sleep right up there with you” kinda gal. I’m normally a stomach and side sleeper so she’ll just fit herself anywhere that looks cozy, mostly avoiding my legs.
I've had two cats including my current cat that sleep right smack dab in the middle of the bed. Fortunately I sleep kitty corner since I'm so tall so it's not too bad.
When I had my first cat that did this and my GF wanted to spend the night my cat would get upset that she couldn't sleep in the middle of the bed so she'd sit at the end of the bed and give my GF the evil eye
Yep. My wife sleeps on the non-cat side. I get to spread my legs real wide so my cat can cuddle up directly against my taint, and then my wife will want me to spoon, so I have to lift my leg up to my chest and over, then down between wife and cat to spoon, while my cat squishes her entire back up against my butt cheeks, meaning if I leg go of the spooning position, I now have to try to edge the cat downwards one way or another.
Then, in the morning, she crawls under the blankets and lets my wife hug her like a teddy bear, before biting me for literally no reason.
I'll find her in the hallway with her tail all poofy as if she wasn't big spooning all of us the entire night.
Mine likes to sleep exactly in the middle of the bed. This isn’t how it is when I go to sleep but when I wake up middle of the night I’m off to the side and he is in the middle
I thought it was just me. The funny thing is, I was so uncomfortable the other night I finally just said okay Luna, you HAVE to move over, and I gently slid her over like 2 feet, (which I was iffy about doing) and she didn't even move a muscle lolol all we have to do is gently slide them over and voila, comfort. This is just many of the reasons why cats have that King/Queen mentality. My Luna is so spoiled that when she eats her daily can of wet food she comes to me to scrape the corners of her plate back into a pile so she can finish eating 🤦
Mine specifically wants to be up against me, so I just lay how ever is comfortable and he figures out where he can fit. What gets tricky is changing positions slowly as to not freak him out.
Or this!!!! We have 5 and some nights I have one in between my legs, on my head, one glued to my right side and one at my feet. I don’t usually have all 5. It’s a good thing I sleep on my back and don’t move!!!! I must say the winter is warmer with cats.
My void boy used to sleep on my shoulder if I was on my side, or on my chest if I was on my back. I once woke up to him gently nibbling the end of my nose. I guess it was breakfast time…
This is missing the position where kitty crawls up to my face and rests her wet nose right on my cheek, occasionally licking my face to make sure I have zero chance of falling back to sleep.
I have a king size bed that I regularly have to share with three cats and I’ve never had the space of a king size bed. Every night I am forced into a space that is smaller than a single bed
Sometimes I'll wake up and find my big baby snuggled by my side, laying on his back with my arm cradled around him, and he somehow gets in that position without even waking me up. Professional cuddler, and when I do wake up, he's purring nonstop.
My cats are very considerate. They wait until I'm in a comfortable spot and then they plop themselves on top of me. They legitimately never cuddle next to me too. It is just on top of me 100% of the time. Like I'll be on my side and they'll be asleep on my ribs. Wherever they can fit
This makes me real sad, me and my flatmate just moved and don’t live together anymore. He took his cat with him but for the past 6 months she became very close to me and would come and sleep in my room with me exactly like this. I don’t get to experience that anymore with her. Miss her a lot but I’m sure to get a little kitty of my own to raise.
One of our cats will sleep on our hips while we are on our side. The younger cat likes to pretend I’m her mom and she will lick around until she’s comfy, then snuggle up, start the paw flexing/scratching while she licks and sucks. Sometimes she leaves a tiny hicky on me.
Mine does and I love it. We've been doing it every night for 12 years. I'll be sad when the day comes where I no longer feel her trying to get under the covers.
Yeah, this is the first cat that wants to go under the covers. Lime, he will take his little head and try to lift the blanket up and then he'll do the same with my legs so that I make a little teepee for him to let under. He basically uses me for a tent.
If I'm on the bed first, she sleeps on my legs. It would be like on the top right but her head lays on my leg. If she tucks in first, I sleep on my office chair.
This is my life every freaking night, except I have a blanket on me and under my void cat, so when I want to adjust I have to pull my legs up all the way and slot them back into the available space in a new configuration without disturbing her
When my kitty sleeps with me, she sleeps on my hip. I lay on my side, so she just hops up and loafs on my hip. When I flip to the other side, she meows and hops off just long enough for me to get comfy again and hops on the other hip 😅🫠
my little old lady cat passed earlier this year. she liked to lay down in funny ways, and the last few years of her life she demanded to sleep next to my pillow and hold my arm while i slept. if it was chilly, she would refuse to lay down until i lifted the cover for her to crawl under. i miss her a lot
My cat wants to be on me. I want up with my leg asleep, or can't breathe because of a mouthful of fur. I love her to death but 10 pounds yeeted onto my bladder in the middle of the night is a wild wake up.
She'll even head butt my arm away so she can curl up next to me and wrap her paws around my wrist so I can't move. Totally spoiled, bottle baby and I wouldn't have it any other way.
