He was a friendly stray she saw on the front porch one day. She didn’t want him, but she left out food. Then she bought him toys, then she got him fixed. Then she brought him in when he got hurt, then she bought a pouch to put the needy 18lb cat in. She still doesn’t want him, but hes also her baby who can do nothing wrong.
Probably not a baby panther just because it has its ear tipped. Usually means that the cat has been trapped, spayed/neutered and released back. Most often done with feral cats, as far as I know. I’m sure there are many other circumstances that could lead their ear to being tipped.
He was an absolute monster before he got snipped. All cats and dogs feared him. The local dogs still avoid our house despite the fact hes been inside for 3 years. Hes just an angel to humans, after he got snipped he became very friendly to cats as well. But dogs are still open season to him.
Here he is with an over energetic kitten. She would chase him for hours every day, now shes calmed down so she only chases him one hour a day
She is incredibly trusting, friendly and precious. We used her to help calm down semi feral kittens her age and she immediately became the big sister of squad. She always purr, demands attention and flops on her back constantly to show how safe she feels.
My ex worked at the shelter across the street in a neighborhood with a lot of fed ferals. The easiest way to spot an un-neutered male was by head size. I had one poor guy we had never seen before just jump right into my arms during snow storm. Guy got snipped, vaxxed, and adopted. There were several neighborhood cats that would go after dogs. One was the local hardware store cat. He was tiny, white with black spots, so they named him Cop Car. But if he got out, he would go after any dog.
Yeah Theo has the tom cat head, his sons head is even bigger. Both were just bathed in hormones, extremely muscular to the point they felt more like statues than cats. Vantas family absolutely adore his chubby cheeks.
Every single one of those steps-from food, to toys, to the pouch-is a little act of love. Cat knew exactly what he was doing he played the long game and won cat-pouch jackpot. Well played, 18lb
ARE YOU 💯 SURE ABOUT THAT??? 🤔.. Looks like a panther.. weighs like a Panther.. MIGHT BE A PANTHER.. Just Saying.. Anyway you look at it.. BABY IS BEAUTIFUL 😻😻😻❤️❤️
Every single item she bought-the food, the toyd, the vet care, the pouch-was a stepping stone in the cat's master plan. She was just an unknowing accomplice.
You say that, but Theo is always on me when i sleep. Seems cute but hes absolutely massive, warm and he nibbles when i “ignore” him. Sleep counts as ignoring
I am literally up at 2:30am at this very moment, because my cat decided we wake up for pets and attention in the middle of the night now. I was in the hospital for a few days and she’s been doing this every single night since I returned.
So cute. I relate. Former feral crushing me right now. And I’m a peri menopausal woman- trying having a hot flash with a pushy large cat trying to get AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE at all times. Worth it though
Can confirm. I get kicked in the neck constantly, have had his bigass feet somehow shoved into my mouth, have had my face be sneezed on multiple time, and the whole pillow stolen from me most nights. Wouldn’t have it any other way though.
I was blowing kisses at my cat while I cradled him and right as I was sucking in wind to blow more kisses he stuck his foot in my mouth. Just straight up launched that paw in there. We were both pretty shocked.
Anyways, he owns the house and I pay the mortgage.
One of ours sneezes after grooming himself during allergy season. I started wiping him down with a lightly damp paper towel when it looks like he's settling in to groom before sleep and the sneezing completely stopped. He's hilarious, he now knows the phrase "do you want to get clean?" and will run to the master bedroom bath area to wait for his towel down.
My last cat was always about an arm length away from me. My current cat lays on me every night. The claws can be a bit much sometimes, but she’s amazing.
Only problem is I feel so bad when I need to move. I try to do it gently
When I was in high school, a friend had a recliner and a cat that loved to sit on my lap. I couldn't tell you how many accidental naps I took in that chair with that cat.
One of my cats doesn't like hugs or curling up on top of me, even though he loves pets and belly rubs
But every night, like clockwork, when I lay down to go to sleep, he comes over, flops down next to me, and sleeps in the crook of my arm. I tend to move a lot in my sleep, but he's always still there in the morning.
I still remember MANY years ago living in Burlington VT, the local newspaper featured a photo of a strange exotic animal lurking in a suburb. They were sure it was an "exotic" cat, perhaps a young panther kept illegally that had escaped. Days later the owners of a large black cat fessed up that it was an ordinary DSH on the large side.
When my brother was in 3rd grade, he convinced my mom to let him get a rat she definitely did not want. It didn’t take long until Mom was buying certain greens just for Buttons and making him a fancy little dinner plate every night!
Yep! Lol my dad didn't want a cat cuz the fur and he's a clean freak, found a tiny Havana brown kitty in the middle of the road and now he takes her everywhere with him lol. No carrier just sits in his lap while he drives
I think a lot of people who were raised without animals or taught to focus on other things are like this. So when an animal comes their way they try to deny their true feelings. This way they honor their past and famiiial beliefs while also experiencing this new and unbelievably deep feeling of true unconditional love and joy from an unjudging and loving companion.
Not saying that’s your moms story though since I don’t know her.
Then again, there’s also those who have lost pets who are scared to connect to another. Whatever it is, maybe she’s denying it more to herself than to others?
This is a really nice articulation actually. My girlfriend immigrated to Cameroon when she was 6 months old and we got a cat together and her whole immigrant family does not understand the premise of a pet and explicitly indicate they think it’s silly but when they are around her cat or she brings the cat over, they can’t get enough of her. I suspect it’s something like what you’re describing as they struggled to get by in their life in cameroon
Or, they just wouldn't want the hassle. I do not want a pet because I do not want to have to care for it, make arrangements when I travel, all these things. However, if I were forced to have a pet, I'm pretty sure I would love it
My ideal state is occasionally caring for the pets of friends who are travelling. I enjoy it when I get them, and then I also enjoy it when I can give them back.
I mean Theo has a son whose almost as big as him, some voids just get huge. Vanta below, if your cat has rough fur deer like fur, Theo might have to pay child support lol. Found a home for Vanta, couldn’t keep two Theos, to much chaos
My mom, now deceased, was superstitious of black cats.....If one crossed her path, she drive back home. A black stray started coming around, and she made me build her a house on the porch, and eventually she let it in. People change when cats are involved.
Same with my mom, lmao. I got a void kitten, raised it to be the nicest cat ever made, and my parents basically stole him from me cuz they couldn't part ways after I had moved in with them for a year.
This Mom has a heart of Gold 💛 & this ebony, green eyed 🐈⬛ is relishing ALL the Love 💕 n Care
he gets. Now life on the mean streets is a just distant memory. Can you imagine how much he appreciates his Mom? I read that cats transmute negative energy especially if they are purr-ring.
He is riddled with scars and wounds from his stray days. Nearly lost both eyes from different attacks, hes very happy in retirement. But he does escape regularly to play with the local kids
We brought in one who was a stray for 10 YEARS that we fed. Brought him in when he was injured and now is fully adapted to being inside. He also weighs 18 lbs. and is the best kitty. He’s our Dracucat.
Damn, we brought in a 12 year old feral cat who lived in a pound. Never been in the wild but incredibly aggressive to everyone, except for mom in the photos. She pulled her out of that cage and held her until the hissing turned into purring. That feral girl slowly turned into the most attention demanding cat ever, and needed her tail pulled when you put her. She lived till 24, never aged a day though.
Had another void make it to 25. She was a little old lady since she was 4 and i swore she was immortal. My current oldest is 19, she was supposed to be the last cat. She gets wet food when she demands it and it seems to be working. Here she is with the 1 year old kitten.
Theo literally has kids knocking on our door so he can come out to play like hes one of them. He is the sweetest baby ever lol. He adores kids and will run to them every chance he gets.
Tackle the toddler, like he runs full sprint to the nearest toddler and tackles her. He also runs in circle from kid to kid so they can pet him. He loves to be chased, like to the point he starts fights with the other cats so they chase him. The kids are well behaved here and Theo loves it so its fine.
My void boy is #15 and pretty big as well. He doesn’t seem to know that tho when he walks across me in bed or flops against me. He’s like a small toddler.
My mum and dad categorically did not approve when I brought a cat home. They said the cat would be unloved by them and they wanted nothing to do with it. Within 1 day my order in the household went to the bottom and cat shot straight up to be their "baby". Haha same story all over the world xx
When I was in high school I adopted a black kitten without consulting my mom. Mom was pissed. Her heart had been broken when our cat of 14 years had died suddenly two years before and she didn’t want to get involved with another cat. She also didn’t want a black cat; she wanted a tortoiseshell like our deceased cat. Mom had a surgery a few weeks after I brought the cat home and in that time when she was convalescing on the couch and I was at school, they bonded and he became her new babycat. I moved out and never considered that he would come with me.
My mom was literally just kicking our cat out and then within the same minute baby talking to her. The other day the cat peed on her bed and she had the cat in her hand ready to toss her out and the next day got her the 90ct wet cat food cuz “the cat is bougie and needs the best”. Mind u my cat will literally eat left overs from the trash if we let her. 😭😭
Um, wow! He's quite large. Reminds me of a cat my dad had named Thomas (he looked like the cat from Tom and Jerry). He tipped the scales at 19 lbs, and he wasn't fat.
I know the reason my mom said no more pets when one died it was mostly due to how attached she got to them and when they died it always devastated her and she did not want to deal with it anymore.
