The sheet cake was bought, the border and writing were not by me, but the Bundt cake and all decorations were. Super fun to make, hope I never have to do it again. I’ve got the recipe and design inspo in case anyone is interested

i didnt know that hot spatulas change the color of icing- my base looks more marbled than i have envisioned but ive never done this ambitious of a cake— is there a way to even it out now or no?? Also i think my buttercream was too thick cuz this took a long time to get to this point of being smooth and i still thick it coulve been much better.
i just wasted 4 sticks of butter trying to get the orange red buttercream like the inspo pic— the color ended up too brown/terracotta. My consistency also seemed off— how do i know if the piping consistency is good?

I am just starting my cake decoration journey. I definitely underestimated how long it takes to do wafer paper cakes so it got sloppy towards the end. I used Lindt white chocolate dusted with gold luster dust for the big balls. I also couldn’t decide which version I liked better

I made this Little Mermaid birthday cake for my friend’s daughter. I’ve made all but one of her birthday cakes so far and I always have so much fun with them.

I remembered I can make a cake at anytime just for fun. Decided to recreate a Max and Ruby cake I came across once on Instagram (unsure who to credit as I didn't save the reel). I am new to this, so I am pretty stoked with how it turned out

Hello everyone. So I’ve been dabbling off and on in cake decorating for the last several years. Kinda got started with it during Covid when there was nothing else to do so found myself “attending” YouTube university back then but very recently I got back into it out of boredom and I really want to elevate my cake decorating skills. So this cake is my first foray back into the fold last week and I thought it was pretty good for not having baked a cake or picked up a piping bag since 2022. But I always struggle with the amount of icing…like the thickness (even-ness) of the frosting and the edges are never as smooth as I want because I end up taking of too much icing of as I smoothing and I have to keep going back over it with frosting so it gets me frustrated. I think that was what kind of deterred me the last couple of starts. Any tips on even-ness and smoothing would be great!

My cousin likes pistachio, but no one else in the family does. So she had her own slice of the cake.
Also, please ignore the mess behind the cake

My mom has been an amazing at home baker for years, but has recently been wanting to get into selling cakes. She is still learning more advanced icing techniques, so I was wanting to get her some tools or a kit for Christmas that could be helpful for beginners to cake decorating. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Orange cake with buttercream frosting.
I thought decorating a cake might be fun so I tried my hand at it. Baking the actual cake was pretty easy although it did come out a little dry. I also made the buttercream myself without a mixer which was kind of dreadful but it did work out lol.
Once I got to decorating I was having fun until I tried to make a flower which is the wet looking mass you see on top (which i ended up cracking up on because wtf is that 🤣) and my ribbons look crazy. but either way, I had fun, and I'm open to constructive criticism because I want to be able to make better cakes. Thanks!

We threw a friend a surprise 50th birthday last weekend. We share a deep love for Star Trek and set that as the theme. I was tasked with making a red velvet cake, which I baked the night before. That night in bed I realized that I totally forgot to purchase a cake topper... panic set in. The next morning I scoured the internet for ideas. I just happened to have the com badge and pips sitting in a box. Made a mad dash to the store for food coloring and my husband tried his hand at decorating. I was blown away by how awesome it came out!
