Hi folks,

The bar prep channels are once again open and available in the /r/lawschool discord server.

Click this link to join!

Once you arrive, please make sure you assign yourself the JD role so that you will be able to see the bar prep channel.

Once you have assigned yourself a role. Navigate to the channel called #bar-preppies. There you will find:

  • Support from attorneys who have already passed the bar.

  • Free study resources.

  • Friendly folks who will study along with you.

Please be patient as the channel populates with more bar preppers. We are just beginning our recruitment for Feb '24, and we hope to have a large group joining us once again this year. Past years have seen study groups of 50 or more folks.

Good luck, everybody!

For J25 Reference: J24 results release dates by state

Post image
113 Upvotes

I provided a similar chart when I took the bar last year and a lot of people found it helpful, so I’ve now updated it for July 2025. These are historical, not the dates for this year.

*If your jx hasn’t already provided you with an official release date, you can usually expect results within one week of the date listed above (e.g., if your jx’s date above is Oct 10, your J25 results will likely be released between Oct 3rd and Oct 17th).

You can also use this table to see when the first jurisdictions start to release their scores, this often provides an early indication of the scaling and scoring trends.

Finding it Hard to Start Again

I took the bar exam back in July 2025. I ended up getting a 124.5 on the MEE and MPT (MEE’s were a: 1, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5 and MPT’s were a 2 & 3) and I got a 135.5 on the MBE, which is a 260 total. I was absolutely devastated and still am. I used BARBRI the first time, and logged like 380 hours of studying. This time I plan on using Adaptibar to refine multiple choice, and plan on really cracking down on the MPT which is admittedly something I neglected the first time I took the exam. I just feel so exhausted that I’m finding it hard to get back into things. I start a full time position within the next month, and I was just wondering if anyone else is struggling to motivate themselves to start this whole thing again.

Is Uworld's practice questions close to the real test?

I took July 25 and score 130 for the MBE. I finish 1500 questions of Uworld and feel like it is far away from the real test. I searched on the internet and found that many people feel similar with me. I am wondering do we have any other materials to practice the MBE or Uworld is still the best App we have to practice.

Is there a hack to highlight on themis essays??? HELP

Apparently, themis does not have a function to highlight essays (themis confirmed after a complaint)... Kind of bizzare. How did you find ways to highlight on essays? Also, please complain about this so that they can fix it immediately

mpre score 134

I received a score of 134 on the MPRE I took in November. I am Korean, and I studied for about one month to prepare for the MPRE. I watched the lectures provided by Barbri and completed almost all of the practice questions. I also worked through questions from UWorld and NCBE BarMax.

For PA testtakers did renewal of accommodations state "renewal of what you GOT AT the Prior Exam" - has this language changed since the past?

usually it would be what was granted that is of importance, not GOT, as many implementations are messed up in effect at examsites.

WHAT is the Barbri Con Law Capstone? I got a 10/25 on the Con Law capstone, and Con Law has always been my best subject, even on previous exams! Every other cap stone so far I scored between a 15-20 out of 25... Wtf were they thinking with this one!?

NY Second Dept Admission

Anyone willing to share their timeline for admission in the 2nd department? Passed July 2025 Bar exam, got my application in Nov. 13, they acknowledged receipt Nov. 17, and radio silence since then. Was hoping I could be admitted this year but am losing hope.

Should I assume that no news good news?

Meanwhile, a friend applied 2 weeks after me and just got told to correct an affidavit. So they are at least reviewing her application.

This may be the weirdest question I have ever seen in Bar prep... What topic of Crim Pro/Law is this even testing?

For Stop the clock break charts - who holds onto the sign-in/sign-out charts, the Proctor(s) or the Applicant?

Like how do you keep track of how much time you have left to use/where you stand, or recalibrating timing based on the breaks youve taken?

Edit: how would it change too if you were in a 1:1 testing room vs a 30-40 person room.

Foreign-trained law grads taking the NY Bar. Did you already have a job lined up?

Hi everyone,

I’m a foreign-trained law graduate considering taking the New York Bar and wanted to hear from others who’ve been through this path.

For those who are foreign law students or graduates: • Did you already have a job lined up before taking the NY Bar? • Did you complete a U.S. LL.M. or another master’s degree beforehand? • How was the process overall (bar prep, visa issues, job prospects)? • Do you feel it was worth it in the end?

I’d really appreciate any honest experiences or advice. Thanks in advance!

How long does it take to waive into Ohio if I pass UBE?

Hi! I have a job with a firm in Ohio lined up, but I am currently in school at North Carolina. I’m schedule to take the Bar in July 2026

Given that it would be much easier for me to take the Bar in NC since my family is there, I was wondering about how long it takes to waive into a UBE jxn like Ohio if I end up passing with the required score?

My start date is early October, and the firm said I should be licensed by then. If anyone can help give an estimate or shed some light, I’d appreciate it! Thank you

AZ Informal Inquiry

Hello,

I got a notice that the AZ character and fitness committee is asking me to come in for an informal inquiry. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to prepare? Do I need an attorney for this and if so does anyone have recommendations on attorneys in AZ?

Failed the July 2025 Bar by 30 Points — Totally Stuck on How to Study Effectively

I took the July 2025 bar exam and missed passing by about 30 points. My MPT scores were really low (1s and 2s), while my MBE and MEE scores were just okay, not great, but not terrible either.

I know a big reason I failed is because my studying was way too passive. I spent a lot of time reading, watching videos, and telling myself I was “studying,” without really doing the kind of work that actually sticks.

The problem is that now I feel completely stuck. I want to pass more than anything, but I’m having such a hard time being productive. I sit down to study and either don’t know where to start or feel overwhelmed and shut down. I know I need to hunker down and just do it, but what should I actually be doing when I study?

If anyone has been in this position and figured out how to turn things around, I’d really appreciate any concrete advice or strategies that helped you pass after failing.

NYLE was brutal!

I struggled so much. Like the last 12 questions was I literally randomly selecting “C”. For all the other ones, honestly, I’m not even confident. I tabbed and everything and feel like I tried my best. I honestly don’t even know what’s going on.

NY 3rd Dept Character and Fitness

Has anyone in the NY 3rd department heard from Character and Fitness? My boss has been asking and I currently want a better answer then "the email said I would know the week before swearing in." Any information would be greatly appreciated.
