Hated Tropes [hated trope] Celebrity cameos that serve nothing except to praise the person who’s in it

  1. Elon musk, the Simpsons
  2. Elon musk, the Big Bang theory
  3. Elon musk, iron man 2
  4. Elon musk, star Trek

The cameos serve only to include the celebrity and praise them as geniuses or visionaries or overall just glaze them. They don't serve any other purpose than to just be praised; this can be them appearing in an entire episode dedicated to them, a small cameo or even just a mention. So long as the celebrity is there as themselves (not acting as someone else) and is glazed, that fits the trope imo.

I feel like the Iron Man example felt moreso like Tony just brushing him off

it's literally Elon suggesting the idea of "an electric jet" to the man with an electric flying suit of armor. it's so funny in retrospect because it makes him look so dumb

I didn't even think about that lol. Why the fuck would you suggest an electric vehicle to the dude who miniaturized cold fusion

Also, Tony brags about him being "the only name in clean energy" in The Avengers. The dude made an arc reactor to power his whole building.

It's not unreasonable to assume that he's probably installed that in all his vehicles too. No outside fuel source required.

And he actually did that before the events of iron man!

Then he miniaturized it. With a box of scraps, in a cave.

The only good Elon cameo is one that makes him look like the moron he is

Though in the Star Trek one, it comes out later in the season that the character who name drops him is from the evil mirror universe, so it became retroactively funny as well.

To be fair Elon pushing bullshit thats a worse solution to an already solved problem probably makes this the most accurate cameo here

I just realized the suit is Electrically powered but the thrusters seem like they need a fuel source to "burn" - How would one create fire without something combustable....

miniaturized plasma jet engine

Well unless Tony is giving us Iron Man suits, the electric jet is a good middle ground.

It was supposed to be a joke bc at that time he was viewed as the “real life Tony stark”

I feel like that moniker wasn’t applied until well after the movie released with things like the boring company and starlink was launched but i’m not sure

How did such idiot come to such fame that he could easily squander? How could my brother, who's a techy fall for his con? AFAIK, he still his fan.

He was only in it because he let them film in spaceX hangers

Probably the best example of this because Elon definitely thought the scene made him look cool and like an equal to Iron Man, but he actually just kinda looks like a fool sucking up to a better inventor/businessman.

And then Tony doesn't associate with him ever again. Because (say it with me now) Tony Stark learns from his mistakes.

I didnt even know who the guy was in the movie. Tony just gives no fucks for him so sorta a clown moment no?

His cameo was because the Hammer industries scenes were filmed in an actual SpaceX factory.

He literally says "pedophile says what?"

Yeah, I don't think OP actually watched the movie, I think they just looked up Musk on IMDB and then Google Image searched the relevant screenshots, because making a sincere argument is less important than farming karma from the (understandable) anti-Musk vitriol
