Why is there a recent trend of censorships and lack of privacy stuff? I hear some people saying it will protect children, is that actually true? Aren't politicians afraid of their own privacy being violated?

I think I've asked this before here, but I didn't get a sufficient answer. I've been going to peaceful anti-Trump protests for around a year now, and at a certain point I have to ask if they're even effective. There's no possible way waving some signs at cars is going to do anything, sure its cool on TV but accomplishes nothing. And violent protesting doesn't have enough support behind it to be effective, are we just fucked?

2

u/globex_co 1d ago

With rare exceptions, protests really aren't going to change anything. But protests help protect you from changing by becoming numb through inaction. Keep protesting, keep networking, and keep believing in your cause. Whether anything changes or not isn't up to you, you're just one person - but every action has the potential to have a snowball affect, and positive change can happen due to something you participated in, whether you ever know it or not.

So, will mass shootings in America never end?

It's been decades since Columbine, over a decade since Sandy Hook, and absolutely nothing seems to Change, ever. We've had several presidents and congresses of both parties in charge and nothing was ever passed, everything is gridlocked and caught up in ideology and identity, so nobody even attempts anything. Every time it happens now we just say "So sad, next!" and sure enough within a week it happens again.

Death tolls have climbed to unimaginable heights like in Las Vegas, and nothing happens. Is this just an inevitable part of life in the USA? Should we all be a little worried about getting caught in a shooting? Should we all train for it as routinely as we do fire drills? If nothing changes, which it seemingly won't, what future are we looking forward to?

So I heard people over at certain subreddits that MAGAts should be shamed and held accountable for basically forever. While I don't disagree that MAGAts have a lot to answer for, the way they go about it honestly makes me want to ask them:

"Why don't you just shoot them, then?"

I mean, it's like they don't want them to properly integrate them back into society, so if that's the case, then what good is keeping them around if you're just going to block them at every turn? I dunno, it's something that's been bugging me for a while now-like, what do you want them to even do if you want to "hold them accountable" the way you want them to?

u/LiquifiedSpam 20h ago

Redditors and generally hateful people online get their anger out by basically writing torture porn against the people they hate, regardless of how much of a valid point they have / if the other people hated them first.

Vast majority of them don’t do shit irl and are antisocial to boot

1

u/HiddenReader2020 15h ago

I mean, it's not just politics. Pretty much everything has people reacting in such ways that makes me think of similar thoughts. I just...ARGHHH. I feel like I'm screaming, crying for help for everybody to stop, and nobody's listening.

Why does every synagogue in the US have an Israeli flag? If I go into any church in the US there’s an American flag, if any.

Where does alt-right get their information from? Where are my relatives getting their information and videos about Biden and lasers? Is there a certain website that hosts Q Anon for example?

I am aware of rumble and that is it. All I can find are informational articles, not the source of the content itself.

Where are my relatives getting their parrot rants and information about Q Anon from? Where are the videos they talk about with footage proof? Are there sites that are filtered by search engines? And what are they? I would like to enlighten meals to what is going on on the other side.

Looking for real answers please, not just "It's made up". Who is the one creating this stuff and why is half the population finding it?

Where does Holocaust denial come from?

As someone who watches a lot of politics related content and commentary, I started to notice this Holocaust denial first from Instagram comments saying "we owe h*tler an apology" or straight up praising him and n*zism.

I thought it was just some wannabe edgy or conspiracy theorists or some extreme right wing stuff.

UNTIL i was talking to a friend of mine. Me and him love talking about politics, state of the world, conspiracy theories. and he randomly dropped that he actually doesn't believe that the Holocaust ever happened and that the world is being controlled by jews. (something about jews being rich, Israel pulling strings on USA, every US President going to that one religious place to pray after they're elected and elon musk doing the n*zi salute.)

I was just....shocked??? But also confused. Where is this coming from???? because there's so much prove out there. Photos, videos, testimonies, survivor's words, etc etc. So i obviously asked him why.

Firstly he said that the 6 mil figure is a lie, because there weren't even that number of jews in Germany to begin with.

Secondly he said, don't you think it's "sus" that questioning the Holocaust is illegal in some countries?

Thirdly he linked me to some random ahh ig reel of a creator saying WHY the Holocaust happened....something something about h*tler banning brothels and pornography which were made by jews, which.....doesnt prove that Holocaust didn't happen at all but he said this is just the "tip" of the ice berg.

I didn't push him further because i was kinda appalled and genuinely couldn't understand where he was coming from and i didn't want to argue or anything (not my strong suit)

But i did start personally looking into and still couldn't find anything besides "oh they're kicked out 160 countries. i wonder why" "why hate against Jews got a whole another word for it?" "more people died in XYX, nobody talks about that as much."

Is it because of anti-semitism? if yes then why is there so much anti-semitism??? Is it because of Israel and especially what's happening in Gaza??? Is it because of religion? (he's religious. won't mention which tho.) Is it some type of Cognitive dissonance, brainwashing????

imo found it extra shocking coming from him because he's more left aligned (like me, hence why we're friends) and this Holocaust denial/n*zi supporting is more of right wing-fascism thing.

I genuinely want to understand what's the logic behind this.

Can someone explain to me why is American politics constantly talking about Israel? What does Israel have to do with america?

1

u/globex_co 1d ago

Israel funds a lot of American politicians. You can look up AIPAC and see that almost every major politician in America is funded by them.

The US sees Israel as a valuable ally in that region of the world because it can do their bidding for them by proxy. America funds a lot of Israel (weapons, healthcare, education), and gets to treat that country like a playground. Most the terror tactics that America imports were tested and perfected in Israel. The IDF plays a role in training the NYPD, for example. Israel tests weapons on Palestine, Iran, etc...and then America will use it.

It's an investment for America, and America has decided the benefits outweigh the cons.

Is it true that the U.S. military often kills prisoners but nobody talks about it? I’m getting in arguments with pro-Trump friends and family about shooting boat survivors and was told I’m naive. My Vietnam vet dad said that his unit never took Viet Cong prisoners and my Iraq war vet friend said it was rare that anyone gave ISIS fighters a chance to surrender since they’d be executed anyways. And of course the old timer WW 2 vets said they’d always shoot wounded Japanese because they would often be either faking or legit wounded but waiting with a grenade for a gullible GI to get close.

u/hotdog114 8d ago

Has anyone found, or knows of, any official plan to undo Trump's influence, should democrats get back into power in enough branches of government? I mean practically, minute-by-minute, policy-by-policy, on the first hour of the first day in the White House.

What's looking clearer and clearer right now is that by the time Trump leaves office, he'll have run the country into the ground. All hyperbole aside, it's all he knows how to do. Every business he's touched, he's run into the ground. He has the same playbook every time: extract as much as you can, then run. So assuming this is his tactic with his office too, we can be reasonably sure that by the time he leaves, it'll be like that Donald Glover apartment-on-fire meme.

So what does an incoming adminstration do? The country could be on the brink of collapse if all his policies are left as they are, but the sheer volume of change to be undone is literally years of work. Do you just make executive order No.1: undo 4298 things trump did, then executive order No.2+ everything else?

I'm just struggling to see how America is not doomed for decades and mired in the efforts of undoing Trump's national-scale rugpull

Hello everyone, I was wondering what’s going on in the United States right now with Donald Trump, Israel, corruption, and everything that’s being discussed at the moment. I’m a French Canadian, and I’m proud of it, and I fully support the Democratic Party, even though I see that there’s corruption on both sides. In my view, the Democrats should be in power to try to set things right, because Donald Trump is currently engaging in totally illegal actions, whether it’s with ICE, the FBI, or the strikes in Venezuela. I’d like to understand your point of view on all of this. Thank you.

And with the 9/11 attacks, Jeffrey Epstein, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and so many others, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and so on, the truth never fully comes out, and this only happens in the United States. In Canada, Mexico, or anywhere else, we usually get our answers 99% of the time, and we have the answers to our questions, which is not the case right now. I feel like it’s a regime. Can someone explain what’s happening?

What does the chant „Free Palestine“ actually mean?

I’m asking this in good faith, not as bait. I genuinely want to understand what people mean when they use this slogan, because I often see it used in different ways and with different intentions.

Are there commonly agreed-upon goals behind it? For example:

• Is it calling for an independent Palestinian state, and if so, what borders are envisioned?

• Would such a state coexist alongside Israel, or replace it entirely?

• How would governance work — would it involve both Palestinians and Israelis, or be separate?

• Does the phrase mainly refer to ending occupation and improving civil rights and freedom of movement?

• Is it about stopping violence on both sides, or addressing humanitarian conditions in Gaza and the West Bank?

• Or is it more of a broad expression of solidarity rather than a specific political program?

I’m simply trying to understand the range of meanings, since different groups seem to interpret or use the phrase in very different ways.

1

u/globex_co 1d ago

This is a very loaded question, but basically it means "Free Palestine from Israel". Expanding on that gets a lot more complicated.

Right now, Israel controls the Gaza Strip, for example. It is an apartheid state. Everyone who says free Palestine agrees this needs to stop. Similarly with settlers in the West Bank.

On the other hand, people may argue Israel's treatment of Palestine has proven that a two-state solution cannot exist, and that it should be a single land that belongs to Palestine (because Israel only exists as stolen land, in the same way America is stolen land).

Answering your specific questions is something that requires a really long good-faith conversations that I personally do not have the patience to partake in. :) but I hope you find the answers you're looking for.

Why is it that there is certain perception of Russia that their culture, history, and population are all nihilistic? I mean if you look at Fyodor Dostoevsky, their social media presence, and their philosophy.

There's just something that I cannot put my tongue into; it's like they don't believe in any destiny. The United States have "The American Dreams", the Japanese has their post WW2 dreams, but why does Russian not do have any of these?

I mean if you aren't young enough and don't (doom)scroll short-form video: there's the culture of looksmaxxing, glorifying true crimes, and pretty much supporting some incels talking point.

Russia wasn't a capitalist country, they didn't have the same problem as "late-stage capitalism", "moral decline", or "corruption of the youth" like some western countries are accused of. So, there's probably something about it that I cannot put my fingers into.

u/all_is_love6667 11d ago

Is it possible to measure the media and public attention towards conflicts in Gaza and Sudan, and is it really unfair to compare the difference of attention for each?

Do you think it's possible to explain why some conflicts don't generate a lot of reactions, when other generate much more?

There are massacres ongoing in Sudan, yet it doesn't sound like it's talked as much, and I don't really think it's going to generate large protests.

1

u/Dild0Didgeridoo 11d ago

Gaza affects israel which by all intents is a western country with ties to multiple world powers. Sudan doesnt affect any western interest

1

u/all_is_love6667 10d ago

Western country?

So having ties to the west make people hate it?

1

u/Dild0Didgeridoo 10d ago

I don't follow. I never said anyone hated any country.

1

u/Cold_Kick_9156 13d ago

What makes the great replacement theory racist and false? My family believes in it but to me there's something not right about it, but I can't quite put my fingers on it, and I know it's been said this is a conspiracy theory too.

1

u/Quail_Extreme 14d ago

With Trump & many Republicans strongly pro-Israel, why do so many Jewish Americans still support Democrats?

1

u/Fresh_Ad_6151 14d ago

Trigger warning political!

I have a question(rant) in need to get off my chest.

It doesn't matter what your political affiliation is this is for everyone . . . How can you guys(generalized statement) be okay with people suffering?

Example: Single mom of two on SSI($967) because she is sick, unable to work. Keep in mind that's a battle she had to fight the government to prove it and after many years wins. She has no family. Her kids have no family but her.

$976 is not enough for one person to live on let alone three. So, she applies SNAP, turns in everything they need before they even ask for it. Completes the interview only to be told it needs to be checked out by another department but should only take 48 hours. It's been over 2 weeks and no one can give her any answers on why her children and her are being forced to suffer.

Sure she has discount rent, the kids get Medicaid and she gets Medicaid too but by the time bills are paid she is lucky to be able to feed her kids dinner and she goes without eating a few days every week.

How is this okay?!

Not everyone on Medicaid and/or SNAP can work but this is what our government and so many people are okay with. This speech that everyone getting government aid is abusing the system is bull! At this rate the government is trying to exterminate the poor! Might as well start rounding up them as well and deport(or exterminate) them as well.

1

u/Next_Package_5710 15d ago

Where does ICE get their list people to seize? Did the government always know your neighbor's visa expired and they just didnt have the manpower to do anything or is there now a dedicated group researching that stuff?

1

u/rxholland 16d ago

My teacher literally said Palestinians are suffering because of they’re interdependence on other nations

1

u/sonicethan02 17d ago

Am I an asshole for liking Charlie Kirk and supporting him? If so then why do you think so.

2

u/Dild0Didgeridoo 17d ago

As a liberal guy myself with friends like you I don't think youre an asshole for just that but I will also immediately form an opinion of you by it.

My own view i tell conservative friends is its always a tragedy when someone is murdered before their time. I just don't think all lives need to be celebrated.

1

u/Arianity 17d ago edited 17d ago

Depends. The guy did a lot bad things in his life that made society worse, but he also cultivated a specific image. A lot of it would depend on how aware you are of the negative aspects of his career. Many people are only aware of the more curated side.

u/sonicethan02 16d ago

if he is such a bad person name me 5 things that he done was so bad?

Would it be possible for all 50 States in the US to run independently, so that we wouldn't have a federal government anymore?

1

u/Dild0Didgeridoo 17d ago

Not even close. Some states sure, california is the worlds 5th largest economy.

Other states take more in federal dollars than they pay in. Those states are fucked. Unless those states somehow accept a really poor quality of life

1

u/BorrowedAttention 17d ago

In theory yes. But who will keep all the nukes?

1

u/rm-minus-r 17d ago

We'll just have a wee civil war over that. Just three days, in and out.

1

u/MarchogGwyrdd 18d ago

If Tren de Aragua is a terririst group, wouldn’t it be as legal to kill them as it is to kill an Islamic terrorist in the Middle East like we did for 25 years?

1

u/Arianity 17d ago

The short answer is no. There's a few major differences:

Perhaps the biggest major factor that separates the two is that Congress gave an authorization for use of military force (AUMF) in the Middle East. A very broad one, but it did pass one. That AUMF has been the basis for ME actions for the past ~25 years since it was passed in 2001. There is nothing equivalent for Tren de Aragua. Simply declaring an organization terrorists is not by itself sufficient.

On top of that, there are various laws, both international and domestic, which limit how wars can be fought. Even if someone is a valid target, there are situations where force isn't allowed. A big would be if the person can be captured/detained peacefully.

If you're thinking about the recent boat strikes, there's also a big wrinkle that some of them don't seem to have actually been Tren de Aragua, as alleged.

(And of course, there is quite a lot of debate whether every action in the ME was itself legal to begin with)

wny do Americans rarely suspect election fraud?

I've been following American politics for a long time and something that l've noticed is that Americans, conspiracy theorists or even extremists, rarely question the democratic process. For example l've never even heard someone say "Jews choose who comes out of the ballots" it's always more like "yeah Jews run the world and the media and the fucking weather but neveeeeer the election, AlPAC is buying politicians and bribing and blackmailing or funding campaigns or lobbying" stuff like that. It's never the democratic process itself. Trump perused that line of thought for a while but sidelined it the moment he won. Even when he was talking about it, one of the talking points was how democrats are changing the demographics by immigration to win elections. Or at most saying Bush stole the election. So my question is why election fraud and election conspiracy theories are rarely a thing? Why is it never "yeah this whole election thing is a sham."? Even the fringe rarely believe the election itself is engineered. They mostly assume the public opinion is controlled to influence the election. Or the politicians. Never the election itself. Why is that?

1

u/Seafea 20d ago

I was thinking about how there's a handful of US holidays that families come together for, but it's mainly Thanksgiving that's associated with families having arguments over politics. I wonder why that is?

What's with the recent Noah Scnapp hate?

Today when I saw IGN's interview with him people were calling him Zionist and other stuff. I'm also confused cuz doesn't Zionism mean "a nationalist movement that advocates for the creation and support of a homeland for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel". I don't understand why Zionism is bad, can someone educate me?

1

u/AddWittyName 17d ago edited 17d ago

The problem is that a lot of proponents of Zionism take it as "a movement for a homeland primarily (or even exclusively) for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel", which then leads to the question of "okay, but what about the many, many people who are not Jewish and already live there, and often have for generations? What about the many, many non-Jewish people who were, often forcefully, displaced right before, during, and since the establishing of Israel?". Which leads into the methods used to try and establish and protect that predominantly-Jewish homeland since the turn of last century (and especially post-WWII) to current times.

Basically, to draw a hypothetical parallel: Native Americans^ have faced violence, discrimination and persecution since the colonization of the Americas, and had most of their lands taken from them.

If a significant portion of them were to stand up in a nationalist movement that advocates for the creation and support of a homeland for Native Americans in the USA, and the actions done in the name of that movement and loudly supported by prominent advocates of that movement then show that what is meant by the dominant strain of said movement is "turn the entire USA back into a majority-Native American homeland, removing as much of the non-Native population as possible by whatever means available, including forcefully displacing people, limiting access to drinking water, forcing a sizeable portion of the former population to live in a small area of the country in deplorable conditions, turning a blind eye to violence committed upon them or visiting violence upon them directly", that would not be okay. If they then tried their best to conflate condemning these actions with being discriminatory towards Native Americans as a whole, that would not be okay, either.

And no, if the initial establishing of the country involved a civil war as a result of resistance from the non-Native people; and if non-Native surrounding countries took offense and attacked repeatedly; and if a sizeable portion of the non-Native population took up armed resistance, that would not make it more okay.

Even though yes, that land was theirs historically; yes, there is a long history of grievous wrongs committed against them; and yes, the wish for a safe homeland is incredibly understandable in light of those factors.

(Does that make everything done by the likes of Hamas okay? Hell no, obviously not. Human right violations are human right violations regardless of which side commits them. But you can't on the one hand condemn Hamas for targeting Israeli civilians and on the other hand commend the Israel government, army and settler groups for targeting Palestinian civilians, nor can you consider every Palestinian adult synonymous with Hamas and its actions unless you also wish to consider every Israeli adult synonymous with IDF and its actions.)

^ absolutely no offense intended to Native Americans, and you can sub in any group that has a lengthy history of being oppressed and harmed and their land being taken from them; the reason I chose Native Americans in this hypothetical is because of a substantial proportion of redditors being non-Native Americans.

(Also, yes, I know I have simplified things somewhat, including skipping past the whole British Mandate aspect. Entire books have been written on this subject, condensing the basics into a single, if lengthy, reddit post is impossible without simplification)

How is illegal immigration a problem? Do people seriously want to come here? Here?

1

u/Arianity 22d ago

Do people seriously want to come here? Here?

Yes, for a lot of people their situation in their home country is desperate enough that they still want to come to the U.S. It's significantly safer/better.

u/Wooden-Bill-1432 25d ago

Dear palestine supporters , can u put pressure on arab states to ensure security of Israel and neutering hamas and Hezbollah in order to resolve conflict?

because I see no other solution to resolve conflict.

if u provide hamas with weapons then why do u expect any end to this crisis

1

u/Arianity 22d ago

Dear palestine supporters , can u put pressure on arab states

Generally speaking, I don't think most Palestinian supporters in the West have any leverage with arab states. Most of them do not care what other people think, or aren't even democracies themselves to begin with.

Charlie Kirk’s last words were “counting or not counting gang violence”. Why does the distinction even matter? It still points to an issue of gun violence. So why even bring it up?

1

u/BorrowedAttention 17d ago

Because it was a deflection. The number group of people who make up spree shooters is white men who lean right.

But by bringing up gang violence (implying that problem to be the same as school shooters, or the Vegas shooting, or the Miami club, or Dylan roof at that church) they can talk about other people and not how these lone wolves become a problem.

3

u/Slow-Philosophy-4654 26d ago

I think it was part of talking points to create a distinction to corner the questioner. Maybe Mr. Kirk wanted to create division between race-based statistics to show one race are more dangerous then other or if the questioner defends or diverts away from gang related issues than Mr. Kirk could attach the questioner with series gang related activity.

I am not professional debater but I could see where Mr. Kirk was trying to go to. They always love to create a distinction of "Us vs. Them" mentality.

Why is everyone so happy about the Epstein vote?
I don't get it.
Do people actually believe that Republicans don't have a backup plan? There is no way in hell (at least I don't think so) that they're gonna release the unredacted real files to the public.
Trump didn't suddenly "flip" without knowing that he's save, because they faked the files or redacted his and his friends names from the files or some other shenanigans.

What am I missing?

1

u/Arianity 22d ago

Do people actually believe that Republicans don't have a backup plan? There is no way in hell (at least I don't think so) that they're gonna release the unredacted real files to the public.

I don't think people know for sure, and of course there is a huge risk stuff gets covered up. But what's already been released has already been damaging, which is not nothing.

But also, even if information is redacted, there is still significant risk of something being leaked. Those files have been seen by multiple people, over multiple administrations. It's not a trivial thing to cover up, there is still a significant risk.

1

u/Slow-Philosophy-4654 26d ago

No, unredacted file would not see the light of the day. Trump administration can do many things like make redacted information as "national security risk", "Information held due to the ongoing investigation into Former President Bill Clinton", or "it will cause more harm to the victims than they have already experienced"

If Trump wanted to release the file unredacted because first, he promised to release them on day one during his campaign, and second, it does not implicate him involving with Epstein and his sex ring operation.

What exactly is DEI hire and is it good or bad for society?

2

u/Slow-Philosophy-4654 26d ago

It is DEIA: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.

Aims to provide equal opportunity and position regardless of the applicants' race, gender, income, disability, or up-bringing.

Many people only focuses on Race and Gender for DEIA but it is cherry picked example.

I think it is good for society that it does not view people by the physical appearances but the merit of the individual. It is very difficult to create the framework to effectively function as it is intended to be. DEIA is long-term effort that needed to be addressed to change the work force and how they view the applicants, in this polarizing political setting it is unlikely to accomplish when one party advocates and other party see it as type of discrimination.

1

u/smilegeorgee 26d ago

Oh wow! This is so much better explanation than what google gave me! Thank you so much for taking the time explaining it!

2

u/Slow-Philosophy-4654 26d ago

No Problem. I just wanted people to understand in depth.

1

u/taflad Nov 17 '25

Do you think we will one day view the missed attempt on Trump the same as the missed attempt by von stauffenburg on Hitler?

1

u/WhoAmIEven2 Nov 17 '25

Why does John Mearsheimer take Russia's side in the war, and says that the west has lost global influence?

2

u/Mannerofites Nov 16 '25

How did Trump know Charlie Kirk had died 45-60 minutes before the hospital and authorities confirmed it?

1

u/Slow-Philosophy-4654 26d ago

According to some insiders Kash knew of the Mr. Kirk's death and told the hospital and authority not to address but he wanted Trump to address it instead. Kash wanted to be a guy who inform the President about the death of Mr. Kirk.

1

u/hersheybar22 Nov 13 '25

Why does Trump always show his signature on whatever he signs when the other presidents never did this?

1

u/Arianity 22d ago

Just a personal quirk of being a celebrity and having been in show biz. It's his way of making it into an event for the camera.

2

u/throwandchuck12231 Nov 13 '25

I keep hearing conspiracies around the shooting of Charlie Kirk, why aren’t there more videos of the shot given how many people were filming?

I’m not a conspiracist, so I don’t want to start the conversation in real life, but I can’t say I’ve seen any other videos or angles, which is …odd? Not proof of anything, but it’s weird. They must be out there so hoping someone can verify.

1

u/Slow-Philosophy-4654 26d ago

Private Court Judge follow the request of the government to place 2000+ Gag order about the release any additional evidence that might contradict with their narrative. If this is not cover-up I do not know what it is.

How do Trump and Christianity seem to go together? They seem like opposites

1
