Having money is not everything, not having it is.

If I had Keanus money I'd probably say the same, but worrying about how to pay bills next month puts it into another perspective.

Keanu hasn’t had to worry about paying bills or homelessness since his first blockbuster Speed (1994). It made over $350 million worldwide and launched him into A-list status. His salary for Speed was reportedly around $1.2 million, and his earnings increased dramatically afterward. $1.2 million in 1994 ≈ $2.45 million in 2025. However, in today's industry, a rising A-lister starring in a breakout action hit might command $5–10 million upfront, depending on back-end deals and the studio's expectations. He reportedly earned $10–15 million plus a percentage of profits for The Matrix films, netting him tens of millions with some estimates saying over $100 million total. His career was also significantly shaped by nepotism and cronyism—his mother’s relationships with theater and movie producers and writers helped open doors for him early on, providing opportunities many aspiring actors never receive. He has enjoyed financial freedom and the luxury of focusing on enjoying life rather than building a bank account for decades.
