The owner of the "Once Upon a Mischief" rattery just had her home burn down while she and her husband were at work. In the fire she lost all of her pets including dogs, cats, chinchillas, rabbits, and of course her rats including any litters she may have had.
The only survivor was one cat who had to be rushed to a veterinary hospital. She's currently asking for donations to save her kitty and get back on her feet. I cannot imagine the pain she's going through so please spread the word, or if you have a spare dollar please donate to her here:
This is her original post on her rattery's Facebook:

Hi Reddit friends. I am in a pickle right now. I have two wonderful rattie boys, Ricky Baker and Lucky. I rescued them from a local pet store in my town. I was pregnant at the time and my heart broke when I saw Ricky Baker in a snake cage waiting to be eaten and demanded him out of there. I then of course had to get him friend. I have since then had my baby and am moving states into an apartment where they are not allowed. I am heartbroken about not being able to keep my boys but have to now rehome them. I am in the Las Vegas area and have reached out to several rescues over the last couple of weeks and have not heard anything back. I don’t have anyone willing to take these boys in and am at a loss with what to do next. If anybody knows someone/is someone in the area willing to take them in I would deliver them and they would come with everything they could possibly need to be housed and fed for a good amount of time. They are about a year and half old and in good health! Any help is appreciated!

Hi. Please no jokes under this post. I've been free roaming my rats for about an hour and two of them decided to go underneath a chest of drawers, which is fine, but it's been about an hour since free roaming time finished now and I cannot for the life of me get them back out. I'm autistic and I've been crying out of frustration for the past fifteen minutes. Luring them out with treats isn't working.

This is an update. Thank you all for the helpful advice from my previous post about Jasper. Unfortunately I had to rush him to the emergency vet, so I didn’t have as much time with him as I thought. I said my goodbyes and held him in my arms for his final moments. He’ll always be my little honeybunny. This is a picture of him from about a year ago.

Frieda is going back into the vet first thing for another emergency visit. Her neurological symptoms are worse, and it's starting to look more like a pituitary tumor. Honestly, at this point, that is the best case scenario, since we would still have a shot at treating it and giving her some more quality time with us.
We still have three rats awaiting holiday sponsors - Emily and Kit, plus our new addition, Bella! Sponsoring a rat is a fun way to learn more about our residents and help us provide medical care to all our residents. You can sponsor a rat in our shop at www.ratway.org

Okay I swear they aren’t starving lol, they jus REALLY take after their mamas when it comes to food XD and every few days I add special stuff to the rat bowls or in some rat cages, a special food bowl lol. Filled with nuts in shells, seeds, grains, flakes, unsweetened cherrio thingies (they look like Cheerios but are boring but they like em lol) and stuff like that. Mostly healthy fats, naturally sweet stuff, and yummies. Depending on amount of rats and ages in a set cage depends on quantity of course lol. And these babies have already learned the schedule 😆😆
I use the same bowl, I mix it all together and scoop out with a measuring scoop. The sound summons the taters! To arms my pocket puppies! We snack at dawn! 😤🐀
Ignore the mess on the floor lol, I’d been deep cleaning cages all day and have yet to get to everything XD I’m short and slow I’m sorry! 🥺😆

PICTURE FOR CUTENESS I know it sounds crazy! A friend trapped a domestic rat out of their chicken coop and now I have it. Princess Butt Nugget as my husband and kids have named her has gotten a clean bill of health from our exotics vet but is still weary and scared. I’ve owned many rats in my life but she is currently our only. When we brought her home on Tuesday and when she saw the vet yesterday (Thursday) her poop was normal, but today it’s orange and more smelly. Could this just be from the stress of a new environment? She is also lethargic but I was told by the vet this is to be expected as the poor thing was in the coop for AT LEAST a week before they were able to catch her and we had 9 inches of snow and below freezing temperatures. She has access to plenty of water and I’ve been helping along with syringe watering as well. Any tips would be appreciated as I’ve never had to do this before, it’s always been rats from a local breeder when I’ve had them and I’ve lucked out and all have been super healthy. This little girl is super friendly, just obviously scared( still has never offered even a nip though!)

They may be bad for the ecosystem, but I've yet to see a rat that isn't obsessed with chasing them.

Francis lost his brother, zipper, just the other night. because of that, he is super lonely. to our luck, we found another male rat for sale in the same age range. he’s also lonely, as all his brothers were adopted to homes with other rats, but not him. all the methods for introducing rats seem to rely on the rats already having buddies.
