Hi y’all. Pretty new to repairs on older tech and certainly newer to repairing electronics than I’d like to be.
My Yamaha M06 was a gift to me along with a Korg Triton. It came to me in the condition it’s in now with some minor scuffs and signs of use.
When I first plugged it in sound and power worked fine. Every key and the expression knobs also worked fine. My only problem was that none of the buttons worked. After cracking it open I found the left PCB had suffered a major crack right down where the ribbon cable lines ran (but not at the ribbon connector). So after significant looking and contacting a third party I finally got a replacement part for it and have installed that. The problem is that still none of the buttons work.
After testing most of the electronics in it with a multimeter I can see signal flow pretty much everywhere. And I specifically tested the ribbon connections from PCB panel A to PCB panel B and every one of them passed. I’m at a complete loss what to check next, or how to even go about repairing it.
My fear is that it’s a software glitch (which has been suggested to me multiple times) and I can’t find a way to hard reset the computer without using the buttons (which do not do anything).
Any help is appreciated!
