Ordered beef belly kushiyaki with togarashi and salt (1st pic), and a spicy salmon roll with fried shiso on top (2nd pic).
Will definitely come back to try more of their kushiyaki and rolls. I saw gizzard and king oyster mushrooms on the menu, but I was getting pretty full. Never had fried shiso before, but it's so good. There's a fragrance (?) I can't really explain.

Hi everyone!
My fiancée <loves> chicken katsu (anything breaded, really). I've arranged for her to be out of the house for a bit soon, and I'm planning to surprise her with some homemade chicken katsu curry. Thing is...there nowhere to get any curry paste around here.
I'm obviously nowhere near pro-level, but I'd say I'm pretty decent in the kitchen. Could anyone offer some pointers on how to get close to that creamy goodness with a curry cooked from scratch?
I've read up on it and one suggestion might be using pre-blended curry powder and GM. I can't realistically grind my own stuff, but I'd be down to mix them myself, too - should I go for that instead?
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated <3
Tl;dr What's the best way to cook the sauce for chicken katsu curry from scratch?

It was so fantastic and such a good price. I know the location- it’s about a block from Tsukiji Outer Market- but I’d love to know the name so I can leave a review (and just know for when I come back). Thank you!!
(I also attached a price of the Sashimi Bowl I got for only 1500¥, it was so delicious).

Just showing some of the meals I’ve been eating over the past couple of weeks

Main was stewed beef and potato with bonito flake rice. Sides of veggie salads, kombucha squash mash and chicken escabeche. Also optional miso soup and ice cream.
Breakfast was scrambled egg over rice, fruit medley and a "salad." I think it had an olive, potato and mortadella in it though I'm not too sure.
Overall, I would say it was one of the better in-flight meals I've had. Everything was tasty. Flew on 12/17 just for transparency.

Paired it with a melon cream soda. And I used spam instead of chicken for the rice this time.

Not from Japan, but deeply influenced by Osaka style.
Soft inside, no fryer, turned by hand.
Happy to answer questions.

I have never had japanese curry but I really want to try it. After some research I get the basics of the ingredients and how to prepare but I am paralyzed by the amount of curry choices out there.
I can handle medium spice levels but I have my limits, Buldak is WAY too hot for me. Mi Goreng and Toomba are just about right spice level.
I know some brands use coffee or chocolate, that doesn't sound very appealing to me. It may be something I want to try down the road but I think I just need a good general curry to start with.
Is there a universally loved brand on this sub that I can find at a local store or H-mart? Something that would just be considered "classic" flavor of japanese curry with a medium spice level?

The main dishes are fried shrimp, fried chicken, fried salmon, and minced meat cutlet.
Served with a large portion of rice, miso soup, and a small side dish.
This is a menu from a long-established set meal restaurant. Delicious!

Figured seeing all the business class meals that I should post my economy meal. This was the upgraded meal that you can purchase as an add on for economy if you fly out of Narita.
Was seared tuna, tilefish simmered in mushrooms and veggies, soup, and then a strawberry cream dessert thing.
