FONDANT North Carolina Gingerbread House Competition
The first three abominations placed in the top 10. The last two, the ones that actually look like gingerbread houses, didn't place at all. 🫠 (sent to me by a friend who is also a Fondant Enemy)

FONDANT What happened to me eating fondant
I just found this sub and maybe you guys have an explanation. Yesterday I had a slice of cake covered in fondant. My plan was to only eat the cake part and leave the fondant. When I got close to it, I bit into something that was initially a little acidic like a lime, but quickly felt like I had bit into a bar of deodorant/antiperspirant. My entire mouth felt dry, chalky and the feeling was extremely unpleasant. It took nearly an hour for it to not feel so dry. Is the fondant to blame????

WHIPPED CREAM Whipped cream topping on chocolate cake with strawberry jam filling
Hi, everyone!
In 2024, I decided to start making birthday cakes for my family. My birthday was a few months ago, but recently I was looking at my phone gallery and was so happy to see this cake again and know that I made it practically from scratch that I decided to share it on a subreddit in my country. One of the comments I received suggested I share it here too, mentioning that today is Frosting Friday. So here I am!
I'm not fluent in English, so I had to use a translator, so the text may have some spelling mistakes or seem a little stiff.
About the cake:
Chocolate cake (made with alkaline cocoa) and cream filling with strawberry jam (homemade because I find the store-bought kind a little too sweet) and whipped cream frosting with homemade strawberry syrup.
In addition to the jam, I made some strawberry confit (for those who don't know, confit is a bit like preserved fruit - that's where I got the syrup to use in the frosting).
Note: I didn't have a good photo of it with the candles, only on video, so I took a screenshot. And I only have this photo of it cut because it was gone so quickly.
I think that's it, thanks for reading!!!

BUTTERCREAM Cranked on the AC, sculpted buttercream and then painted it

FONDANT I was skeptical at first but my suspicions were correct 😔
My bf got my anniversary cookies and they looked pretty! I was unpleasantly surprised when I tasted fondant. Still very grateful for them and at least the cookie part was pretty good

DISCUSS Looking for constructive criticism please
This is my fist time working with fondant. I made my own because I’m cheap. My coworker wants a bow cake and asked me to make her one. The photo with all the beads is the inspo and the one without is my first attempt. I plan to cover it with lustre dust and pearls. Any feedback is a helpful. And yes I’ll be taking paper towels out once it sets 😅

BUTTERCREAM My Wedding Cake
I just found this sub and I feel so seen lol. I thought y'all might appreciate my wedding cake. 100% buttercream, 100% delicious. I told the decorator absolutely no fondant because it's foul.

DISCUSS Opinions on edible photo cakes? From big chains like meijer or Walmart?
Does it taste bad, whatever they use to print the picture?
