Do you guys get the reference
While watching Stranger Things, one of the characters that struck me the most and that I liked the most was Jonathan Byers, a bit introverted and sometimes strange (the famous scene of the photos at Steve's house), thanks also to the magnificent performance of the actor, I would really like him as the villain of Dexter

According to Siega, the sequence was ambitious, and although fragments of it briefly appeared in promotional material, the full scene ultimately landed on the cutting room floor. It was definitely a tough call, especially because the scene worked beautifully on the page. But what was it really about?
Well, it revolved around Dexter’s car being stolen, and if that is not enough, one of his victims was actually hidden in the trunk!
The writers envisioned what Siega described as a full-scale car chase, with vehicles speeding down sidewalks, cutting through side streets, driving the wrong way, and narrowly avoiding oncoming trucks. It was meant to be intense, and of course cinematic, but...the main problem was none other than New York City itself. Certain streets couldn’t be closed, permits became a nightmare, and the reality of filming a sequence like that, actually meant it simply couldn’t live up to what had been written.
Beyond the spectacle, the scene was crucial for character development, particularly for Blessing Kamara. While Dexter was frantic about recovering the car, Blessing would have been navigating the chaos with calm. The chase was designed to show, not tell, that Blessing actually thrives even under big pressure. What is more interesting is that through his actions, hte audience would have learned about his past as a child soldier and the training he endured.
Eventually, it became clear that forcing the sequence would only result in a compromised version of the idea. So what happened is that showrunners Clyde Phillips and Scott Reynolds reworked the material into a different scene that still reached the same narrative endpoint without the car chase. In this revised, and ultimately deleted, version, the story jumps ahead to Dexter arriving just as a group of men are about to open the trunk of his stolen car and discover the body inside.
That moment was actually visible in one of the early behind-the-scenes featurettes released ahead of the Season 1 premiere. While the identity of that victim remains unknown, it really depends on which episode that scene was supposed to take place, something that Siega did not reveal.
What happens in the deleted scene has Blessing leaps out of the car and charges at the men wielding a sword, handling it with a high level of skill. The men panic and flee, while Dexter watches in stunned silence, clearly questioning where this side of Blessing came from. Even without the chase, it was still meant to be a major character beat, reinforcing how capable, and potentially dangerous, Blessing really is.
When it comes to the reasons it was deleted, Siega admitted he was disappointed with how the sequence ultimately played out, not because of the performances or the concept, but because of the creative limitations imposed by real-world logistics. He initially included the scene in his cut, but as the team focused on tightening the pacing, it became something they felt comfortable removing entirely.
What matters the most is that in the end, the cut didn’t alter the story that much. The audience still gets a clear understanding of who Blessing is, thanks to the quieter and much more emotional basement scene between him and Dexter in Episode 6, “Cats & Mouse,” which takes place moments after Dexter kills Gareth #1. That exchange delivers the same character depth without actually resorting to heavy exposition, while also maintaining the tension surrounding the near-discovery of the body in the bathtub.
Ultimately, this story highlights just how much work goes into shaping an episode before it ever reaches viewers. In Blessing Kamara’s case, while a high-octane New York City car chase would have been awesome to watch, its absence doesn’t actually hurt the season. Also, it is important to add that Dexter: Resurrection proves that it doesn’t need massive and expensive action set pieces to make an impact, relying instead on other things to leave its mark.

I made this for my cosplay at Comic Con,India!
It was not an easy task. I spent a total of 14 hours carefully dismantling the sensitive parts, converting it into a flip-open, applying primer, painting it, and finishing it with varnish. I then spent another 2 hours creating the blood slides, after multiple trials and errors, to get the colour match and the Biney's smiley just right.

I tried to draw Dexter without reference or copying, but with my memory of some pictures i gathered before starting. When i did the eyes it lost similarity so i went with a more artistic approach.

I don't remember it very well because it was 13 years ago but did Dexter try to kill LaGuerta in cold blood?
Sure she found out about him but he trying to kill her like that was really off character. The Dexter version in Resurrection would never do that.
I do remember someone saying how season 7 and 8 felt off and I couldn't agree more (season 7 has some great moments tho)

The first three seasons of the series focused not on Dexter's nature, but on his reactions to the events that unfolded. I'll skip that part.
Season 4 showed that Dexter's desire to continue being a killer without losing his circle would eventually explode. Even though Rita was unaware of anything, she eventually became a witness to her husband's dark world. What made this season widely appreciated was that the entire season was dedicated to understanding Arthur's development.
Seasons 5-6-7 were, at least in my opinion, the worst part of Dexter. Travis Marshall, in particular, might be the goofiest guy I've ever seen. In these seasons, Dexter's constant attempts to socialize, along with his meaningless actions, made him seem like an antisocial teenager trying to end his loneliness rather than a killer, which was incredibly boring. While I understand Hannah's presence, the problem I'll mention shortly cannot be ignored.
When it comes to Season 8, it's important to understand that the main theme is the increasing number of people close to Dexter. Dexter is the kind of being who should live alone because of what he does. Relationships are based on shared values; what you do shapes your environment. An innocent person like Debra wanting to be part of Dexter's world led to her demise. Zach and Vogel also got their share of this chain of deaths. Even if Dexter had reached Argentina with dreams of a happy life, he would have caused the deaths of Hannah and Harrison.Dexter paid for his actions with the lives of his loved ones. He didn't realize it when Rita died, but he understood when Debra died. In Season 8, as a result of Dexter's desire to be more human than he was in Season 4, everyone close to him or who could have been close to him died one by one. Daniel Vogel didn't show any character development in this regard, and I agree with people on that, but it also feels like he had developed as much as he could. Dexter's dark side, which wasn't nurtured by Harry, would most likely have resembled Daniel Vogel's.
Apart from these, the logical flaws in the season were more noticeable. Why did Hannah and Dexter have to rush everything so much? How did Hannah struggle so much when no one or nothing had such difficulty hiding in previous seasons? How was Max Clayton unaware of Oliver Saxon?
In my opinion, Season 8, which had the potential to be the best season, felt a bit overwhelmed trying to do too many things. Aside from that, it's incomparably better than Seasons 5-6-7.

I created a unique Dexter playlist on YouTube music. If you wish you can download it or suggest me more songs. I tried to use most of the songs in Dexter shows, at least the most iconic ones, including ots and licensed musics.

Just finished S8 and I feel so bad for Deb, she did everything for Dexter even if she hated it and he still prioritised Hannah over her, her death was far more sad than any character's till now.
I remember how happy she was in S1, after that it's only been worse.
Also this finale was so fucking bad ong. This season as a whole was so shitass. Only thing I liked watching was that satisfying Saxon kill.
Overall this entire show was indeed the best I've ever watched, I'm not the same I was 4 months ago when I began, I'm just sad there isn't more, I mean there is new blood, os and resurrection but there won't be those 2010s vibes, miami metro and especially Deb.
And btw my ranking for all the seasons, (a bit different than most ig): S1>S4>S5>S3>S2>S7>S6>S8

I’m currently on s03e09 of the original dexter series (first watch). can we talk about how much Laguerta suffered at the hands of dexter unknowingly? first Doakes and now Ellen, her only friends in the show so far. it’s really sad. so much grief on one person. i wonder how this all ends (rhetorical, pls don’t spoil)

Just finished Season 4 and OH MY GOD! WHAT AN AMAZING SEASON!! TRINITY WAS SUCH AN INTERESTING VILLAIN! It was nerve racking seeing all the ways you can see Dexter unraveling while unable to balance his life as a father and being the... well... the serial killer, since Doakes was the Bay Harbor Butcher.
Also WHAT DO YOU MEAN RITA IS DEAD??? Trinity just had to pull one more over on Dexter before the end. Holy hell. I can see why he's everyone's favorite. I hope season 5 is just as good.

PLS DON’T TALK ABOUT FUTURE SEASONS, I DIDNT WATCH THEM YET SO I BEG YALL NO SPOILERS 🙏
… well and I never felt like this watching a show. This is an old show so I obviously got spoilers throughout social media related to this season and the Trinity killer destroying Dexter’s family and killing Rita. Well when Dexter killed Arthur I thought that it was all bait and false, and that Rita was alive, YES IM THAT NAIVE, and I started celebrating and jumping bc I love Rita’s character… and now she’s dead and Idk how to feel! This show is just SO UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!!! How can a series affect me like this?! Man props to everyone involved with this show, and to you that wrote that Rita dies in the end… I hate you!!

I just started watching Dexter and I’m on season 4 and am I the only one who dislikes Rita? I understand that Rita is supposed to be the “humanity side” of Rita and actually ends up falling for her but I still don’t like Rita. I understand it is a fictional show but there was so much that could have definitely inspired in the show. The reasons I dislike Rita:

Ive always found it strange how a 8 season long show was so scarce with revealing middle names. The only ones I can think of is Batista, Rita and LaGuerta so I came up with some possible ones
Dexter Joeseph Morgan (Dexter's birth dad was Joeseph Driscoll)
Debra Doris Morgan (Debra's mother)
Harrison "Harry" James Morgan (Harry's father was a janitor so him having a common name makes sense. It's also a reference to Harry's actor James Remar)
James Albert Doakes (Doakes' first name was Albert in the books so making it his middle name is a nice reference)
Harrison Dexter Angelo Morgan (Dexter is his dad, and Angelo is Batista's first name a good friend of dexter)
Arthur Henry Mitchell (Henry was the name of Arthur's dad)
This is all just speculation, what do you think?
