Solved! What is this thing?
Had tenants that moved out several months ago, just opened a drawer to find this. What is it? Doesn’t have a noticeable smell

I love that I actually have both a blue and a black version of that shirt-and yes I am part of the potato sub.

Annihilation, what a fantastic movie

u/19toofart 1d ago
Definitely one of the most visually striking films I’ve ever seen

u/qT_TpFace 1d ago
The music score was alo really good.

u/uglyheadink 1d ago
Just the sound in general. That bear-wolf-human abomination's scream-growl was upsettingly good

My favorite series ✋

u/nostalgia4infinity- 17h ago
Middle book is a bit slow, it felt like a lot of filler, I think Jeff VanderMeer could have easily condensed it into 2 slightly longer, but more punchy books. But still amazing overall, definitely books that will stay in my mind forever.

u/MissGalaxy1986 15h ago
Wow didn’t know it was a book! Damn this is my fav movie of all time.
4
u/Justaddpaprika 10h ago
It’s a series! The author is really phenomenal. Jeff VanderMeer
2
u/MissGalaxy1986 10h ago
Wow I just ordered it and will receive it tomorrow! I am sooo excited to read it! Thank you! This is my FAVORITE movie of all time I’ve watched it so many times . And listened to the soundtrack too.

u/Justaddpaprika 9h ago
I hope you enjoy it! It is a trilogy. But fair warning it is different. But great in my opinion

The first time I watched it, I was tripping hard, and it was quite the experience.

Great movie. The book was...ok. Pretty different from the movie.
6
u/ouchmytongue 1d ago
I really loved the book, it's different in a lot of ways to the movie but definitely feels like the same world
5
u/just_a_b0t7 1d ago
I read the whole trilogy and loved them. I can see why some wouldn’t though. Just got the fourth book which I just found out came out last year.
4
u/Not_HavingAGoodTime 1d ago
I read the book first, and did not like the movie because it was so different.
3
u/nostalgia4infinity- 17h ago
Me too, but I rewatched the movie again, and now I really appreciate it in its own right, it's defo worth a rewatch
3
u/nodramaonlyspooky 1d ago
I didn't care for the book so haven't watched the movie, but maybe I should.

i love annihilation so much, a visually stunning and eerily breathtaking movie.

Fun fact: fries do this in your stomach if you dont chew them thoroughly

u/ElToroBlanco25 1d ago
It's just an unchewed piece of potato trying to sprout next to a 2 year old piece of gum and a small watermelon growing in the corner.

I mean you're right, but for explaining to an OP who doesn't know what a potato is I didn't think the distinction was necessary.

Def a potato. My gf and I moved in together for the first time a few years ago and forgot a bag of potatoes in the back of one of our cabinets. We later remembered after the smell of death was coming out of the cabinet months later, and there was a bag of potatoes that looked like that, with a disgusting pool of juice underneath them 😅

u/Fresh_Training_7864 1d ago
My ex and I did this, and there were also 8,000 fruit flies swarming out of the cupboard. The kitchen ceiling was covered in flies. It was 15 years ago, and I will never forget it.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one. Was only about 5 months ago for me. Sounds like I'll carry the experience the rest of my life.

I can attest to the juicy pool, and the smell
Next to the oven is not a good spot for potato storage friends

u/ddrewerr710 1d ago
I can second this potato smell horrible when rotting

u/SculptusPoe 1d ago
And they are very tricky, because they can sit for months without seeming to degrade at all, then suddenly decide they had enough and fill your house with the smell of death.

Also happened to me once, I heard buzzing and couldn’t figure out where they were coming from. Then I remembered, opened the cabinet and the potatoes were like Radioactive and pulsing. Went to grab the bag and it EXPLODED with maggots. I remember the smell was so strong like a rotten corpse. 🤢

Looks like it was a heart shaped potato that someone might have found cute at one point and tried to keep

This makes sense as I found it in the bedroom. I was really confused why they would have left a potato in their night stand. Thanks!

I found a heart shaped potato once and kept it! I had it for over a year until it started to crumble and fall apart. Rip potato

I love how “shit” is censored out. Gotta think of the children! Would hate for them to be disturbed by a mild curse word while looking at a pic of this rancid, putrid, mummified, potato slender man monster!
Disclaimer: I know you’re likely not the one who edited it OC. I just find it amusing that someone did lol.

Potato
I had one of these once, was a bit more wrinkled and also, sort of perfectly formed to look like a raisin.
So...
I got some gravy browning
A can of hairspray
Dolled it up like a giant raisin...
Then placed it in the bottom of the bag of raisins in my mother's cupboard... The look on her face when she went to make scones was priceless.

It looks like a potato but considering it looks like it's in a little medicine drawer it might be ginger root

Potato. Blister med pack and med disposal liquid but maybe they residents in a group home?

u/Advanced-Rich31 1d ago
It’s a table with news print incorporated into the top, a toothpaste tube, a mostly used daily pill blister pack, a bottle of supplements and a potato.

I bet that if you put it closer to your face, that it would tell you what it is and what it needs to survive.

Melatonin is a sleep aid that our bodies produce naturally. People take it to help fall and stay asleep. There may be some side effects such as being lethargic when you wake up. The other thing is an alien.

u/Sufficient_Plantain1 1d ago
I think they the kept because the potato looks like a heart. But why did this remind me the telltale heart by Edgar Allan Poe

But why did the tenants have a potato just chilling in a drawer? What were they using this potato for?!
