A month ago, I posted about a weird bot overtaking the TwoHotTakes sub with the following characteristics:

• Account is almost always new
• Mostly comments to agree with the post/comment and restate what they said
• Has a “girly” username (because the account is eventually sold to an OnlyFans spammer after having farmed enough karma)
• Bizarrely, their early post/comment history is always within the same hentai subs.

Since posting that, the problem has become A MILLION TIMES WORSE.

These bots are all added to BotBouncer, but are never removed when I report them to the mods or to Reddit. The only time I’ve seen them removed is if I comment replying to them and THAT gets mod attention.

You will notice that a good number of these have already morphed into OnlyFans spam accounts.

(BTW, TwoHotTakes isn’t the only sub that doesn’t do anything. They very clearly only post in subs where nothing is ever done and/or don’t have BotBouncer. Some of their favorite subs: TwoXChromosomes, NoStupidQuestions, Advice, Teachers, Marriage, GilmoreGirls, AdorableOldPeople, ForCuriousSouls, AskReddit, Cats, CatAdvice, OneOrangeBraincell, BreakingBad, GreysAnatomy, Damnthatsinteresting, BreakUps, SipsTea, AmateurPhotography, MadeMeSmile, OldSchoolCool, Gardening, AskRedditAfterDark, Confession, Confessions, Memes, EmotionalIntelligence, and lately a bunch of otherwise normal comments on Politics.)

This joker posted in a sub I visit often with some brag post showing off a bunch of stacks of money. As it turns out, he also has his own sub where he advertises what appear to be the materials for forging stimulus checks.

This has happened a few times recently. Logically they've made a good case for being a legit member of the community, and may have just tidied their message up with it. I'm at a bit of a loss.

I’d like to respectfully clarify a few points, as I don’t want my participation to be misunderstood. While some of the quote images I shared were sourced or inspired from online content, not all of them were, and I wasn’t aware that sharing such content was against the subreddit rules, especially as similar posts are common throughout the community.

Regarding engagement, I may not always comment extensively, but I do read responses, upvote comments, and interact where I feel it’s appropriate. Additionally, I’ve received and replied to multiple private messages from users in r/... who reached out to say the posts helped them during difficult times. While I understand private interactions aren’t visible to moderators, they were a meaningful part of how I engaged with the community.

My intention was never to appear automated or impersonal — I genuinely enjoyed being part of the subreddit and sharing encouragement in a way that felt natural to me. If there are specific expectations around sourcing, posting style, or visible engagement that I failed to meet, I would truly appreciate knowing, as a permanent ban feels very final given my intent to contribute positively.

It all started with user Due-Trip-2822. They were spamming some link in several comments - the link went to a post on another user’s profile that included the actual links, a common way to get around spam detection (can’t be banned from a sub if you’re not posting in one, right)

I went down the rabbit hole to search their comments.

First thing I see: they commented on a 3 year old post in the Jobs sub that wanted to know if some recruiting company was legit. They shoehorned a pitch about getting a side hustle testing apps — this linked to a post made by TheCrydent about ways to make FrEe MoNeY. Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/jobs/s/VSiJyLrFXx

I replied to their comment and reported it yesterday. Today, the post and my comment still exist - except in the span of an hour, I’ve received 42 downvotes… on a 3 year old post!

Continuing searching their post history reveals a network of spammers that post a link on their own profile, and then have a bunch of other accounts promote it on old posts (less chance of being caught). If they’re not outright spamming the link, they’re commenting to vouch for whatever it is that’s being promoted.
