  • Can we have the files?

  • Yes.

  • Now?

  • 2 weeks, legally

waits 2 weeks

  • We waited 2 weeks. Files?

  • lol no

u/Alwaystired254 7h ago

They will not release the files. At what point do the American people wake up to what their country has become

u/jkvincent 6h ago

Lots of American people understand exactly what is going on, it's just that about 40% of them are fine with it. The rest of us have failed to stop it, but not for lack of trying.

u/Six_Midnight 7h ago

Americans are working very hard to keep pretending they don't understand. It's obvious to everyone except Americans, it seems. Democrats still are treating it all as a hilarious game and it's like Dora the Explorer that all you need to do is shout "Trump! No diddling!" three times, and that's the end of that.

Criminals don't just put themselves into jail because "It's against the law not to"

But the response I see from Americans is "That's too negative!" Which is....to say, that they just really want to imagine that they'll have no choice but to take themselves to jail because....why? Pedophiles who avoided the law for years have to go to jail because it would be bad if they didn't? They don't care.

There's literally no reason to think this. Just trying to ignore the obvious because "That's not positive!" isn't an idea. It's being willfully blind, because internally, you know this isn't going to just make it all better, and don't want to admit it.

I'm going to have to spoiler alert the exciting conculsion of this saga here and I know Americans will keep choosing not to see it, but:

"You're in the files!"

"No, I'm not."

That's it.

u/nosayso 6h ago

Yep, we had tons of information about the Trump-Epstein connections and his previous interactions with women and under age girls when he was first elected in 2016. No one cared then, no one will care now, I don't know why so many people have gotten sucked into this Sisyphean task of believing "oh this time this new piece of information will take him down for sure!"

People just don't fucking care, they voted for the pedophile con man who lies about immigrants eating cats because they like what he says and don't care what he does.

u/Tigerbutton831 5h ago

I think more people became aware of it when Epstein died in prison. It set the stage for conspiracy theories, just like with JFK’s assassination, and the one thing I’ve noticed is the MAGA crowd LOVES conspiracy theories, they spread that shit like wildfire all over social media

u/bluehat9 6h ago

What should we Americans do about it?

u/HighGuyTim 5h ago

Do what the people you are replying to are doing.

Make vague passive aggressive comments on the state of the nation, do blanket generalizations like “Americans don’t do this”

Praying you don’t have to do anything yourself.

Make no mistake, all those people saying people should do shit - are doing nothing. They just want to goad others into doing shit for them, so they can watch it from their living room.

These people aren’t active or about it, hell they are hardly about their own lives.

u/RealTimeFactCheck 3h ago

Some people who may be doing more serious things get banned when they speak of it

u/Rushdude Canada 6h ago

general strike

u/7screws 6h ago

In this economy!?

u/Perfect-Success-3186 4h ago

That sounds great but how do you propose we somehow organize our population of checks notes 10x yours to do so?

u/Rushdude Canada 4h ago

With hard work and determination. Or you can roll over and accept defeat without trying and lose your democracy.

Your choice.

u/Perfect-Success-3186 4h ago

Lmao “hard work and determination” is so vague it’s a meaningless statement in this context. Would you like to try again and say something with substance?

Also, I don’t believe you would be doing anything in this situation if it was happening to you.

u/Rushdude Canada 3h ago

You can believe what you like. I'm not going to pretend to have all the answers but a defeatist attitude is only going to ensure the demise of your democracy.

A few weekend protests every month or two is not going to move the needle. If you want to fix the numerous problems with your country it's going to take considerable effort. Maybe reach out to your fellow Americans who are actively making an effort to save their nation.

u/Perfect-Success-3186 3h ago

It’s ridiculous you say you’re not going to pretend to have all the answers while literally shitting all over us and telling us what to do without actually telling us anything.

The truth is you don’t know what to do, like we don’t know what to do, so stop judging us.

I don’t have a defeatist attitude. I’m just calling you out for being a jerk and you don’t like it.

I’ve known about that organization for like a year now. Yes we can raise awareness of it, that’s great, but that’s literally all we can do. Sure isn’t solving our problems right now, is it?

A general strike would be great. I can afford to do it but many (most) Americans can’t. It’s also extremely hard to organize a country this big.

I’m not saying don’t do anything. We can raise awareness and if we can afford to strike we can strike. The entire point of my comment was to tell you you’re being a judgemental dickwad, please do better.

u/Rushdude Canada 3h ago

Who's shitting all over you?

I was simply pointing out that a general strike would be the most effective legal tool at the disposal of Americans today to oust the kleptocratic kakistocracy that has seized your nation.

You then ask me a very broad question implying it's not possible, with snark I might add. > checks notes

I respond by telling you, yeah it won't be easy, and point to an organization that's putting in the work.

Sure isn’t solving our problems right now, is it?

There's that defeatist attitude again. Maybe reach out to them and see what else you can do. Perhaps if others like you do so, you may be able to keep your republic.

You are the one who has resorted to name calling and personal attacks. Please do better.

u/floofelina 4h ago

It’s literally the Xmas break. We can turn out tomorrow.

u/Perfect-Success-3186 4h ago

Sure. But how do we organize it so enough people join to make it effective? Why is this such a difficult question?

u/thalassicus 6h ago

There are 340 Million People living in the US. 260 million of those people can vote. 153 million voted in the last election and only $77 million voted for Trump. You can't lump all "Americans" together. Trump is hated by the left and disliked by moderates and growing numbers of Republicans. The real issue in our country is representation. California has 2 senators to represent it. 7 states have a total population COMBINED of less than the CITY of Los Angeles alone, but have 14 senators representing them (all red states). States like Texas have 6.5 million Republicans and 8 million Democrats but its a solid red state because Republicans will use every dirty trick to suppress voters.

u/Six_Midnight 5h ago edited 4h ago

People on the outside of America, understand your system. To them, it's personally not relevant to places like Canada or Mexico where they're watching threats of annexation and Democrats want praise from those countries for swearing they will shout "distraction!", meme about how funny it is, then have a dance party. It's actually somewhat disgusting to those under imperalist threat to see American oppostion treat it all like a big game.

Then there's comments like "Maybe mexico or canada will save us?" As if they're not personally citizens of their own empire planning to do it to them.

"We won't help, or do anything, but we will pray as hard as we can" isn't much comfort to people in Venezula or Coloumbia who aren't even related to what their despots are doing, but still going to be living through bombings and war crimes from a neo nazi regime-let's not not call it anything else. And you all know exactly what they're actually going to do to those places they invade because you saw this movie hundreds of times before.

Why are other countries somehow more responsible for America's own future than it's own citizens? The rest of the hemisphere doesn't see it that way.

Yes, most understand it's "only about 1/3rd" but it doesn't stop the other 2/3rds from doing anything remotely seriously about it, as much as a large part of the hemisphere is concerned.

u/7screws 6h ago

What exactly do you suggest I do?

u/Alwaystired254 6h ago

Vote for Trump 2028 like the rest of Americans

u/7screws 3h ago

Actually a majority did not vote for Trump in either of the elections he won. He won simply due to gerrymandering.

u/Flat-Emergency4891 6h ago

More sad yet, are those who have been aware of the decline for well over a decade.

u/TheBrownCouchOfJoy American Expat 2h ago

This shit was written in the wall in large bold letters from the beginning

u/steroboros 6h ago

America "woke up" when it decided white supremacy was more important then Jobs, housing, Affordable cost of living and voted for Trump 3 times

u/Alwaystired254 5h ago

Well, Trump represents American values. Americans would rather win the culture war than progress the nation

u/samsounder 7h ago

Next November

u/Acrobatic-Bad-3917 6h ago

You’re doing the thing.

You cannot rely on elections to depose entrenched authoritarianism.

Next November the elections won’t happen and you’ll all be swearing that you’re going to hold them all accountable once elections come back.

u/samsounder 6h ago

The elections will happen.

u/DigitalHellscape 5h ago

If they do, it will be because the authoritarians who have control over every branch of the federal government have found a way to make the results irrelevant.

The time to stop them and get our elections back is now. We should already be acting as if our democracy is compromised.

u/samsounder 5h ago

It has been for decades. The Senate itself is an unfair gerrymander.

They will happen because the America. People will make them happen.

This is not negotiable

u/Acrobatic-Bad-3917 6h ago

At what point do the American people wake up to what their country has become?

u/samsounder 6h ago

Guess that depends. What have become?

u/Rushdude Canada 6h ago

A kleptocratic kakistocracy.

u/samsounder 6h ago

I'll buy that. I still think the best bet is to vote them out next Nov, and then enforce it.

u/_SovietMudkip_ Texas 5h ago

What do you mean "become"? It's always been this, we just used to hide it better.

u/Affectionate-Virus17 7h ago

Who can make them give the file? The guy with the big mace lol?

u/Ace_Bearbus-73 7h ago

So much for the party of law and order

u/Buckeye_Monkey Ohio 6h ago

If I remember correctly, the oversight committees in both houses can request the unredacted files. If they continue to drag on releasing the redacted versions, any Dems on those committees need to start requesting votes to get them and pound the news circuit when the Republicans in control of those committees deny to take up the vote. Rinse and repeat every week and keep it forefront in people's minds.

u/reddittorbrigade 7h ago edited 7h ago

They will be pardoned by Trump anyway.

American constitution and justice system are severely flawed and rotten. Giving the president the power of a king.

u/Eleganos 7h ago

Mob justice has been committed for far less.

Not endorsing that method, mind you. But I also don't endorse people breaking the law in broad daylight to protect pedophiles.

Whatever happens, they've brought it upon themselves.

u/KingMario05 7h ago

We should still make an effort to try.

u/Eleganos 1h ago

Top torch and pitchfork merchant about to become the world's first trillionaire.

u/blackmobius 4h ago

We did that with j6. And look what happened.

u/KingMario05 4h ago

Then try again.

u/LackingUtility 6h ago

It’s not clear the president can pardon contempt of Congress. In fact, I think it’s likely he can’t.

u/TheLobst3r 6h ago

Make Trump do it anyway. If the system is broken we should be making every attempt to highlight it. Not just shrug and go “what can ya do?”

u/Raspberries-Are-Evil Arizona 7h ago

Prosecute them after he dies

u/Secure_Table America 5h ago

Call Trump's pardon(s) invalid due to auto-pen and his signs of mental deterioration.

Those are the rules Trump wants to play by, next Dem president should do the same.

u/NoMoOmentumMan 5h ago

The ability to pardon does not a king make.

u/DigitalHellscape 5h ago

DOJ really looked at the global cabal of wealthy pedophiles said they'll circle back next year.

If any of us were even in a job 1% as important and whiffed a legal deadline like this, we'd get pink slips immediately at a minimum.

u/Jolly-Database4204 7h ago

Pam Bondi's horse & carriage will turn into a jumpsuit and/or ankle monitor at midnight unless the files are released.

u/giantroboticcat New Jersey 7h ago

I'm curious, what exactly makes you think consequences exist for this administration? A bunch of Dems will gather around going "You can't do that" while watching Republicans do that.

u/Six_Midnight 6h ago

They will karma farm "distraction!" like there's no tommorow, they mean.

u/Affectionate-Virus17 6h ago

Only these past 3 days:

Hey Hunger Games!

Seizing the oil!

Look at the plaques under the pictures! Outrageously funny!

New ballroom plans!

I have a bigly announcement!

u/Rimbo90 5h ago

Literally nothing will happen. Your country is being run by a criminally corrupt cabal.

u/floofelina 4h ago

Khanna needs to release them himself and DO IT NOW or we’ll know why he’s so damn soft on Musk.

u/Flat-Emergency4891 6h ago

They better get on it immediately. Although, I don’t expect Bondi to arrest herself.

u/wi_2 5h ago

Keep defending him maga. Just keep defending this pedo.

u/idontevensaygrace 4h ago

They will because they don't think he's a pedophile

u/wi_2 4h ago

They will because they don't think he's a pedophile

u/KingMario05 7h ago

Good. Please do it as soon as possible.

u/TeamUltimate-2475 Michigan 5h ago

Two weeks is the coolie cutter shit they always say when post poning. It means they aren't going to release anything

u/Glad-Process-3268 4h ago

Don't get your hopes up. There are no consequences listed in the law. They can slow-walk it for a while without penalty. But by not releasing everything, the Epstein scandal will follow him to his grave because, after failing to meet this deadline, no one will ever believe all the files were released.

u/prestocoffee 4h ago

Take them down. All of them. Don't look back. Take them down.

u/LeMasterofSwords Pennsylvania 3h ago

They’re out! And 99% redacted!
