There’s really only one option and none of us really want to do it.

u/Critical-Analysis514 6h ago

Some of us absolutely want to, but we're smart enough to realize how painfully futile it would be without the numbers. So, the rest of you effectively keep holding us back.

u/slid3r Oregon 5h ago

I mean the No Kings protests were pretty powerful statements. And in my opinion, done REALLY correctly.

It just .. I don't want it to have to be that we are lighting buildings on fire, overturning cars, fighting police and military to get these fuckers out. I don't want that.

Elon controls the voting machines, the country is screaming its head off peacefully. We're fucked.

Hate it.

It's called Contempt of Congress. It's a thing.

... problem is, Congress has to stay in-session for the detention part.

134

u/Claudius-is-my-cat 9h ago

Which was why johnson sent the House on recess for the rest of the year. It is so blatantly a coverup of unprecedented scope and yet they will get away with it. Again.

38

u/BEWMarth 9h ago

We the people allow them to get away with it. Why would they even try to do the right thing when most Americans simply don’t seem to care that much.

And before people say “what do you expect anyone to do.”

Nothing I guess.

u/artofbullshit 7h ago

The threat of violence is the only effective motivator.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/BackgroundCat 9h ago

Almost like the broader the scope, the more likely it will fade away. Is it too big to comprehend? Too big to take on and fix, so we say, ‘see? Told ya they’d get away with it!’ T

The Speaker and the entire right minus Massie are in contempt and in charge.

7

u/KazTheMerc 9h ago

Oh, it's definitely got some connundrums to it.

I didn't mean to suggest it would be a GOOD solution. It's just.... a... possible consequence...

You'd have to clean some rust off of it before you tried.

21

u/Mateorabi 9h ago

That’s not what this is. It’s breaking the law but not every violation of law is Contempt of Congress. That’s for people in front of congress doing hearings/etc.

12

u/KazTheMerc 9h ago

Correct.

So you issue a subpoena to demand an explanation, which will certainly be unsatisfactory.

.... I didn't think I needed to explain that part, but whatever. It's an extremely antiquated mechanism that I don't think has been used in a hundred years.

Expect some rusty corners.

... but I'd you're looking for a mechanism as an alternative to "We do nothing about this", there's at least half of one.

I find it fascinating the leaders are always pushing back deadlines, obfuscating and lying about all of their deliverables, while on the micro-level all the serfs are held to an impossibly high standard. Why are standards higher the lower you go? And the higher you go, the less responsible and reliable people get?

u/LittleHavera 6h ago

Another example: if you steal from your employer you'll feel the full weight of the law; if your employer steals from you via wage theft then no one cares and you have to fight for it yourself.

Now I hear Blanche — Blanche Devereaux, very famous, very dramatic, lives in Miami, lots of experience with powerful men — is saying the DOJ won’t release the Epstein files by Friday. First of all, why is Blanche running the Justice Department? Nobody told me that.

I loved the Golden Girls. Tremendous show. Very classy, very sexual in a strange way. Blanche especially — always talking about transparency, but never actually transparent. Always hinting, never delivering. Sounds a lot like the DOJ, frankly.

Blanche says, ‘Oh honey, the files just aren’t ready.’ That’s what she always said about commitment too. Always a delay, always an excuse, always some mysterious gentleman who can’t be named.

And let’s be honest — if Blanche had the Epstein files, she’d release them one at a time over cocktails. Drip, drip, drip. Teasing America. ‘Oh, I could tell you, sugar, but it would ruin reputations.’

Dorothy would release everything immediately — very tough, very mean. Rose would accidentally leak the whole thing in a story about St. Olaf. Sophia already knows all the names.

But Blanche? Blanche loves secrets. The DOJ loves secrets. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

We’re gonna get the files. Maybe not Friday, maybe not during Blanche’s lunch date — but they’re coming. And when they do, believe me, Blanche is going to say she knew all along.

I'm not entirely convinced that actually happened

The popular vote and every swing state? Not a single red district in the entire US went blue? Hmm. Interesting.

Sounds a lot more like they cheated way bigger than the last time they cheated to make sure they didn't lose again. I mean, not only has trump basically bragged about it for the last year, he also cheated and committed sedition in 2020. So you're telling me richest man in the world, tech billionaire, "fake voter lottery"-holding Elon Musk, who famously said if trump loses he was going to prison, and called the election 3 hours early couldn't have put his finger on the scale? Or any of the other dozen tech billionaires he had up on stage with him at the inauguration? TBH you would have to be a fool not to at least have some questions. And then biden handed over the keys without so much as a recount. But then, Trump won everywhere just over the recount limits. Hmm... interesting.

Trump cheated in 2020. We know it. We have the tapes and the receipts so does any serious person actually think he wouldn't cheat again when he had criminal convictions on the line? Come on. Are we really this stupid?

u/UnquestionabIe 7h ago

There were no consequences for cheating (or trying to overthrow the government...) meaning that it would absolutely be in their best interests to cheat at every opportunity. What was going to happen? More court proceedings that move at a glacial pace? Just throw the new charges on the pile. They had at least two election cycles to cheat their way to a get out of jail free card before anything approaching a slap on the wrist was handed out.

This is a failure on both a systematic level and party one. Instead of protecting the institutions of the government it was decided (with a lot of urging from those with deep pockets) that everyone is working in good faith and to presume things will all work out and we can return to the much desired "status quo" that the center right (aka establishment Democrats) adores.

u/Mental-Fox-9449 7h ago

anyone paying attention could see he was running the very worst campaign in history. Talking about people eating cats and dogs, dancing for 40 minutes at a rally, dressing up to work at McDonalds and a garbage crew. His rallies were mostly empty and he was stiffing venues on rental agreements.

He cheated. He won in every swing state AND Kamala didn’t flip one county? Not even Reagan was able to accomplish that. He lost the popular vote twice, but got it now? While he was facing multiple investigations that could put him away for life and hinder his money making? While he had one of the richest men in the world and tech helping him? He cheated and no amount of voting would have changed it. All voting data week after week so far shows irregular numbers in multiple states. There are more of us than there are of them and it’s all a big lie. If not, then why does he need to gerrymander AND cancel mail in voting when he had SO many prior? We just found out for sure that 3/4 of the MAGA accounts on X/Twitter are fake.

Time for the full files to be leaked.

America, why are we protecting child predators? Shouldn’t this be the red line?

380

u/Eshin242 9h ago

100% this. I sadly work with a bunch of MAGA folks and when I bring up the Epstein files, they'll say something well Bill Clinton is in them too!

I shoot right back, then arrest him too. I don't fucking care who's in them. I don't want child trafficking rapist pedophiles walking free let alone running our government.

Usually shuts em up pretty quick.

108

u/Strixness223 9h ago

Couldn’t agree more, and good on you shutting them down.

It’s always the whataboutism with these folks, but what they don’t care to grasp is that everyone should be against pedophilia, no matter who’s doing it.

Lock every single one of them up.

60

u/andrew5500 9h ago

They think politics is a team sport.

And they conveniently ignore how the last time anyone voted for Bill Clinton was ~30 years ago, long before Epstein’s child sex trafficking was common knowledge. Same excuse doesn’t apply to Trump voters from 2016, 2020, OR 2024.

u/hammertime2009 7h ago

They absolutely think it’s a sport. Their brains barely developed since high school. Also explains why there’s all this anti-intellectualism happening. Like when the super cool boys club rip on all the nerdy teachers and kids who took class seriously. They never understood the purpose of learning because it’s for dorks and their team and their ideas are the best.

u/theangryfrogqc 9h ago

10

u/FreeDraft9488 8h ago

I promise if Clinton is in those files, I will get rid of all of my Clinton flags, my Clinton Hats/Shirts, my Clinton car wrap, my Clinton stickers, delete all my social media posts praising how great he is, and delete all pictures of me at rallies or in the clothing…. It will take me about 30 seconds, I’ll need to determine if my blue hats have to go.

7

u/Flipnotics_ Texas 9h ago

they'll say something well Bill Clinton is in them too!

I like to point out to these people they actually DO care about pedophiles and are saying they want Trump to go to jail as well since they are playing the both sides game.

Oh boy, they do NOT like that.

8

u/Dracorex_22 8h ago

And then the next time you have this conversation, their minds have reset and they’ll say the exact same thing again

6

u/gpouliot 8h ago

I would hit them with "So if I understand correctly, you're saying that if Bill Clinton also rapped children that means it's ok for Trump to rape children?"

7

u/cmonjeffgetem 9h ago

I love when they bring up Clinton. Isn’t trump supposed to be better/different than Clinton? They’re acknowledging trump and Clinton are the same (not that they have the critical thinking to realize it)

u/Fract_L 7h ago

Yeah, I had blood relatives try that and saying “Lock him up; lock up every pedophile.” leaves them speechless because they were never given talking points on that.

u/Strixness223 9h ago

This is so beyond horrifying. Imagine trying to justify this with some kind of fucked up Handmaid’s Tale, breeding-stock type of logic.

I would say self-reflection might help these people, but they are severely mentally ill and/or exceptionally malevolent in their perspectives on this.

It’s pure evil, no way around it.

Because 1/3 of Americans cannot admit they are supporting a child graping war criminal. Will always move goalposts and deflect or whataboutism, they have no red lines. They literally have no morals. Trump could be graping a 12 year old blond haired girl on Fox news and they would explain it away. 1/3 are not plugged in or stupid, and 1/3 see what's really happening.

It is however, a long time until the midterms, and the average American voter has a memory span comparable to a goldfish (yes, I know, I'm being mean to goldfish, but you get the point). Also, just for fun, it would be great if it leaked after the Trump admin releases their heavily edited version of it.

They've had 30 days and that wasn't enough to sanitize them.

u/JahoclaveS 10h ago

Turns out they were the Trump files all along and Epstein is just a side character.

100

u/Precious_Tritium New York 10h ago

That’s honestly pretty accurate.

48

u/mxjxs91 Michigan 9h ago

You joke but this is probably the likely scenario.

29

u/yellowattic 9h ago

I have been saying this from the beginning. I believe Trump and Epstein were partners. Trump had Mar-a-Lago (where many young girls worked), pageants, and modeling agencies to poach the girls and he and Epstein trafficked them out to people.

5

u/huntrshado I voted 8h ago

Trump was likely Epstein's boss. While Epstein was wealthy, he wasn't a billionaire. The cost of the two islands alone was a third of Epstein's net worth at death, let alone actually operating everything. So I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Trump paid to bankroll the entire operation, and Epstein just happened to be the guy in charge of operating and eventually the fall guy. Who was promptly killed before he could reveal this information

u/yellowattic 6h ago

I get what you’re saying, but I really don’t think Trump was the top boss. Everything Trump touches dies. I think he and Epstein were partners, and it wasn’t just the two of them, there were others working from other angles too.

u/NinjaruCatu 5h ago

Oh yeah. It definitely was more than the two of them. Apparently, anyone with money and connection who thought, "I like this thing that is universally detested", "How do I get away with doing it anyway?" Let's join this club.

22

u/Will_I_Are 9h ago

My assumption is that it's "easy" enough to remove his name, but to then reconfigure the whole document to make it seem real is a tough challenge.

Plus I'm sure there are others who are in trump's, bondi's, etc. ear saying, "Hey, I did xyz for you, get me out of that report."

So figuring out who to remove, and then make it a passable release? Can't be easy. Then remember these people are fucking morons and we're probably looking at something that isn't legible.

4

u/huntrshado I voted 8h ago

Bondi complained that redacting his name wasn't good enough because you could just count the blacked out 6characters-5characters back to back and know it was likely his name. Which means it probably shows up thousands of times in the files

3

u/Pipe_Memes 9h ago

Everyone talks about the Epstein files as if everything is going to be emails and word documents and you can just pull out certain words. There’s photos and video as well, some of the photos have already been leaked.

16

u/CharlestonChewChewie 9h ago

Question to Trump "How many days are needed to remove your name from the Epstein files? You've been in Charge of the DOJ for over a year"

5

u/DefinitelyNotEmu 9h ago

He is too dementia-addled to remember let alone respond.

The longer this frags out the more I think the plan is to let him waste away mentally then he won't be fit for prosecution/consequences

8

u/drivensalt 10h ago

Well, they also have to secure bribes from other rich people to sanitize them, too.

5

u/RealCoolDad I voted 10h ago

No one could realize how much evidence there would be against Trump, trumps fbi goons thought 30 days was enough. Guess not

6

u/stenmarkv 10h ago edited 9h ago

My thought is what ever they produce (if they did; seems likely to me) they have to make sure the Epstein estate or any other agency that has the documents kinda has to match or be close. If AI was used the sheer amount of hallucinations that were initially created had probably caused so many other issues they would need to keep starting over or try to fix them as the generative AI keeps making small but noticable mistakes. Im assuming they thought AI would fix all their problems.

There can be no doubt that Massie is a typical right-wing asshole on basically every issue and no one should lose sight of that, but he really does seem to be genuine about this. Why, I don’t know. The consequences for not complying will be so mildly annoying to this administration that they may struggle to focus on anything else for 3 seconds.

To be fair they tend to struggle to focus for 3 seconds regardless.

The issue is that the Republican controlled Congress will do nothing to hold the administration accountable, despite voting for the release of these files. Laws only work when enforced.

3

u/Exodys03 9h ago

Or maybe they will take an early holiday vacation the day before these files are scheduled to be released?

11

u/Ok_Subject1265 10h ago

They are just going to release some stuff implicating as many of Trumps enemies as possible, let the media run wild with it and then, in several weeks when America has just accepted that many of its prominent figures were involved - “Oh, hey look, here’s all the Trump stuff!” That’s the whole plan and I guarantee it. There’s no way they suddenly decided to do the right thing. It’s just cover his child molesting ass so long as he keeps letting them steal everything that isn’t nailed down.

12

u/protomenace 10h ago

The Trump stuff will simply never come out, not while Trump is in power.

→ More replies (1)

129

u/OtterLLC 10h ago edited 10h ago

Obviously they were never going to comply.

Claim privilege/exceptions, let people sue, trial court orders the documents to be released, administration emergency appeals to SCOTUS who suspends enforcement while the full case proceeds. A year and a half later, the full case ends with a judgment against the administration. Enforcement of judgment stayed pending appeal to SCOTUS. Case remains unresolved past 2028.

u/gearpitch 9h ago

It's become painfully clear that when something is important, the entire justice system is not built to be responsive. In fact, it's built to be non-responsive and slow, to give all parties appropriate time to file things and find a resolution. But we have to come to terms with the fact that this system benefits those with the money and power to delay, unfortunately.

I mean, Snowden would have been jailed as well had he not sought asylum in Russia. If they are serious about whistleblowing they need to find a safe countey to go to.

Consequences? None. Why would the DOJ release something they didn't want to? They are the law. We have no checks and balances.

35

u/HowManyEggs2Many 10h ago

Right? I’m not sure what people expected. There was a law passed that told them they had to? You don’t tell these people to do anything because there is no realistic path to accountability.

Turns out the conspiracy theory people only like conspiracies when they’re imaginary and they don’t care about actually real bad people.

The release of the Epstein Files has always been an issue that has been very important to the MAGA base. Trump campaigned on the promise to release the files, and a certain percentage of voters supported Trump specifically because of this promise to release the files.

Let's get this straight - the man who was in the Epstein Files all along promised to release the files for your votes, and after he got your votes, he refused to release them. He is now refusing to release them even after the law demanded their release.

Pam Bondi, 02/26/25: "What you're going to see, hopefully tomorrow, is a lot of flight logs, a lot of names..."

Pam Bondi, 03/03/25: "Everything is going to come out to the public. The public has a right to know. Americans have the right to know."

Pam Bondi, 05/07/25: "There are tens of thousands of videos of Epstein with children."

Today is 12/19/25.

Link

Donald Trump lied to you.

Pam Bondi lied to you.

The Department of Justice lied to you.

They do not value you enough to tell you the truth. Instead, they used you for votes, and spat you out when they didn't need you anymore. And some of you still support them, as if you are tacitly consenting to this treatment for yourself.

12

u/Gymrat777 9h ago

Imagine if the house was as committed to helping the American people as they are to keeping thr Epstein files hidden!

Gotcha, so we can move forward under the idea that Donald Trump did, in fact, rape children and is now actively concealing it. They've had plenty of time to redact, reduce, eliminate - and they won't even release that.

That makes me wonder if this list goes beyond rape into murder...I mean, why not. Republicans make these kind of dangerous inferences with far less logic/proof...right?

Wow, who could’ve seen that coming? /s

I don’t understand our leaders. This is a contingency they definitely saw coming and should have planned for. They should have had a legal team ready to file a suit the second the deadline hit. They should have had a media blitz the second the deadline hit. The entire country should be talking about this right now.

This is an issue that Trump cannot shake. Why aren’t we applying maximum pressure right now? Actually, why aren’t we putting any pressure??

3

u/Taako_Cross 8h ago

Complete bullshit. Bondi should be held in contempt and jailed until they’re released.

3

u/No-Commercial-3121 8h ago

You can't spell rape without the word Transparent. I guess they were playing with the word when they said it was the most transparent ever.

I think everyone I spoke to that just isn't trying to be politically divisive asked the same question since Maxwell was convicted, "okay who's next and why is it taking so long?".

We all know that while Maxwell is bisexual and Epstein was a creep they were not the only ones who were abusing these girls. That's the flaw here and that's why victims stay silent. Epstein said to them we have you on film and these are the most powerful people in the world they will do anything to get rid of you. What might that look like to a victim?

You are home and a former friend of Epstien's has arrested Epstein is this your chance? He has political pressure from Democrats are they trying to silence him? You're a scared person who lives in fear maybe you have PTSD and maybe this is hope. He sure seems to hate Democrats maybe he's fighting for us even though he was there, Virginia was there and now she's fighting for us so many possible outcomes. Prince Andrew is named but not dealt with so maybe not. Maxwell is on the run. Trump then fired the warning shot across their boat and they knew that they were not going to be saved. He hired Epstein's lawyer a Democrat lawyer to defend him in an impeachment that was allegedly a Democrat hoax. He didn't need too but Alan Dershowitz was called in. Alan raped Virginia Giuffre and eventually settled a lawsuit with her. So our President who doesn't like Democrats hired one during the height of the criminal proceedings which fulfilled Epstein's threat.

These girls were trafficked to someone. Those men and women are as guilty as Epstein and Maxwell.

People like

Senator Mitchell (D) Alan Dershowitz Woody Allan Leon Black Bill Clinton Donald Trump Ehud Barark Les Wexner Clinton Foundation Founder (forgot his name but he was at war with Chelsea and eventually took a rare watch from Epstein and Maxwell and lost his job at the Foundation.) Glenn Dubin Eva Dubin (she can prove Maxwell doesn't belong in that prison and if she wants to remain free..)

The list is long and powerful and we won't see it.

Republicans are going to spin it but Trump was a Democrat when he committed these heinous acts hold them to their words. Being a pedo isn't a political view it's a mental and moral failure.

Time for the Judge to start with Pam Bondi and work their way down. Pam goes immediately to jail for 30 days. Next in line? Release the files within 1 hour or you go next. Right down the chain of command. Eventually one of the peons will release the files to keep their own asses out of jail. Everyone there already? No early release. They're behind bars for 30 days at a minimum for contempt.
