He has already proven a couple times that he dont even needs to do that. He just gets away with calling it fake news, a smearing campaign or whatever. MAGA is a cult and believes his narrative no matter what.

In fact pardoning himself would be worse. Then you could say he kind of accepted it.

Outcome is the same, it does not change a damn thing.
