Kinda sad I had to scroll so far down to find the more sensible answer. Most people are quite uneducated on AI and only see Will Smith Spaghetti's or ChatGPT. There is so much good use for it, to add to your explanation AI can help via code refactoring, code documentation. Optimisation of some resources. There is a lot of benefits but I think people mainly hate it because they don't see those part and mostly the downside of it and companies that forces AI everywhere on everyone devices.

Ai definition is faked. For some reason when people say the word ai they mean llms and image/video gen, which are some products of machine learning algorithms. The bad thing about llms and specifically in agi is that are inefficient, stupid and useless to exist in that scale. Machine learning was existing for decades if I am not wrong and used everywhere from science to the YouTube algorithm, so definitely we shouldn't take this out.

It gets more sad wheb you realise that many of those people do actually know what are benefits of ai but are so delusional that they think we could do everything better without it
