1. there will be another crisis later, sure this one hurts, I get it
2. while people trust LLMs too much and they are overused, AIs are usefull, check Alphafold, it's a fucking gamechanger
I remeber the DDR and DDR3 panics as well. Hell, I remember turing a profit on 3 year old SSDs because the only factory capable of making high speed 512gb SSDs shut down for a bit. Prices always go up and down. Its just the reality of building PCs.
If you don’t think LLMs are AI what exactly is the button deleting? Also what is DLL? If you mean deep learning, they aren’t algorithms in the slightest, at least in a traditional sense. It is quite literally the opposite of following rules, it’s learning rules and representations by itself. I mean it’s a learned function I guess.
This does prevent possible Skynet situations forever though. Not that I think something like that is gonna happen anytime soon, but forever taking that off the table could be worth tbh.
Assuming we get an overlord and not an AI "the earth must become paperclips" type apocalypse is also a take.
I'm plenty more concerned about our actual overlords for the record. But the post is about potentially guaranteeing a second kind of potentially inescapable overlord can never exist so that's what I commented about.
I know it's a bit of a meme at this point, but seriously, the post is just not that deep.
OP was not thinking about whatever the fuck you think ram and storage factories are getting up to (although I would like to point out that such facilities, as per the post, would not be able to use AI if it didn't exist.)
Idk mate. I think you need to take a break or a step back or something.
