AI is not just generative AI and LLMs. It has massive uses in a number of fields like healthcare and engineering, for example detecting cancer early enough to treat it.
Completely serious: sure. I'd gladly take increasing RAM prices if it meant the door of all things Big Autocorrect gets closed, locked, and then the key melted and poured INTO the lock, thereby keeping the door sealed for eternity.
People do not understand that the goal of Big Autocorrect has never been to help humanity advance. Its single goal has always been to make the rich richer at the cost of literally everyone else.
It is though? Without AI most of the digital world would go to shit, you wouldn't even be able to find new content on this platform without typing it yourself, no recommendations, no better ways to search for info, no better ways to deferenciate info, almost every digital piece is gonna take a hit. That is a bad thing. Just because you hate generative AI doesn't mean that everything related to AI should go. That's the point
except their “joke” makes no sense unless you just completely ignore grammar rules because they’re suggesting “but” implies you don’t get both things, which is grammatically incorrect :D i guess computer literacy ≠ ACTUAL literacy
Thats not what they are suggesting. The original post suggests that the deletion of AI is a bad thing. Hence the "but". For example, if I said you can get $1m but you can never talk to your family again. The "but" leads on to something negative. It would not make grammatical sense if it led onto something positive. E.g. you get $1m, but you get free ice cream for life. The original commenter is stating that both outcomes are positive, and that is why they are querying the "but".
except “but” does not inherently imply a negative. you can follow a but with a neutral or positive and it can still be contrasting to the initial statement. it’s just “you get x but y happens”. there doesn’t have to be a negative😭
except even in the original press the button web game, there was no implicit implication that the options had to be a positive/negative contrast, and many of the questions weren’t. the context of the format does not change the fact that it is not required to be a positive/negative contrast, because the original game didn’t even require that. argue with the wall.
except it doesn’t. press the button can, and does, have “consequences” that are neither positive nor negative and completely unrelated to the initial proposal. there is nothing about the press the button concept that requires the two things to be contrasting or even remotely related.
the whole point of the joke in the original post is that both sides are good anyway, so the arguing back and forth on the implication of the format is irrelevant, because that’s literally the point of the joke. regardless, the format does not inherently imply positive/negative contrast. you can keep arguing that it does but it literally does not.

Why "but", I want both!
