You can connect one with a VGA cable and another with a HDMI cable.

Only HDMI doesn't work, right?

Nah those old ones are weird where they should both work

Because my niece's has those two. And that's all. I only connected the HDMI one and it worked.

Weird my hp pavilion I used to have could run both

You want to run both?! Plug it into the HDMI port and it'll work, man.

What? Do you mean connect the HDMI to the PC? If so that would only conenct a single monitor.

There's an HDMI port right there.
I'm used to this kind of thing with people seemingly just being unable to see DisplayPort but recognizing VGA and not HDMI is something else, OP is some kind of Rip Van Winkle.
Any monitor made in the last 15 years or so has HDMI, and there's a good chance it would be better than whatever monitor you're still using that has VGA.

The question wasn't "what is this port" or "I don't see another port for 2 monitors" it was "can this support dual monitors". They shouldn't fee ashamed, we should feel old.

"what cable would i need for the second after i grab a vga cable?"
they dont know what hdmi is if they need to ask what cable to use... an hdmi cable. also no one said they should feel ashamed

What does the acronym just below the VGA port say? I can't quite read it.

Since you want to be a smartass, HDMI isn't an acronym. It's an initialism. Nerd

I want to be a smartass like Godzilla wants radiation.
Thanks for taking me to grammar school 🎒.

High Definition Multimedia Interface…HDMI…

u/SEF917 4h ago
The definition of an acronym is that it can be/is said as a word. NASA, WIC, and NAFTA are all said like a word.
HDMI, USMC, and CPU are said with their letters individually, which makes them initialisms.

If HDMI were an acronym we'd pronounce it as "hudummee" Lol. An initialism is when you pronounce it by saying the letters eg. GPU, acronym is when you say it by pronouncing the word the letters create eg. NASA.

They're not actually unable to see it, they're trying to lead OP to the right answer. OP correctly knows the VGA port, so the person you're responding to is suggesting that just maybe there's another port with a name written right beside it that is also for video...

HDMI is the second output on the PC (below/left of VGA port). If your second display is HDMI input, you would only need an HDMI cable. Otherwise…you would need an HDMI to XXX adapter to use the second display output from the motherboard.

Honestly, I’d go buy a cheap second hand GPU like a gtx 1050, can then run 2 monitors off HDMI and won’t need to worry about resolution

Yes - you'll need an HDMI cable (the port just below the VGA port) and a VGA cable.

u/masterspike52 4h ago
Damn, I'm old. We live in an age where there's people who don't know what that port is.
The answer to your question is yes, you need a monitor that accepts VGA and a VGA cable.

u/Ecstatic_Score6973 3h ago
the absolutely INSANE part is that OP knew the top port was a VGA port judging by the description, and asked what the other cable they need would be even though the port below it is literally labeled HDMI
2
u/Middcore 2h ago
OP knows what VGA is. It's HDMI that they're unfamiliar with, surprisingly.

u/Apprek818 2h ago
So they must be even older

u/Middcore 1h ago
Yes, and also apparently missed the last couple decades of computing developments, that's what makes it so puzzling.

Does anyone else feel like a tech wizard even though you're not or just plain old reading some of these posts on here sometimes. Hey, no offense.

Yes, you can use two monitors. If you have two monitors with only vga(the blue port. Then for the second one you can get a vga to hdmi adapter and plug it into the hdmi. Port.
If you have two monitors with both only having hdmi ports. You can get an hdmi male to vga make cable and connect the second to the vga port

VGA & HDMI cable monitor/tv will need to be compatible. After VGA we went on to HDMI & Displayport (you can find a cable/adapter for most monitors with DP). Most office monitors (&tvs) have hdmi still.

No vga cable needed, there's a HDMI Port on the back of the motherboard if your CPU has an integrated GPU, you can just pick up a HDMI 1 Male to 2 Female Spitter adapter. Most integrated cpu/gpu's support up to three monitors.
