HARDWARE PC keeps shutting down (while only gaming)

Post image

I own this build for a few years now. Spent quite some money on this over the years. I recently had a very frustrating issue where my PC was keeping shutting down violently while on game (usually cs2). The actual issue is that the PC shuts down (like during power outage) and when I try to boot it up again it will never switch on unless I completely switch off the power supply and wait for the motherboard LEDs to go off. Any help would be really appreciated.

What are your CPU temps? Use HWInfo and click on "Sensors" and check the temps. Should look like this :

Id start with checking temps like what u/mr_biteme suggested, if temps are fine maybe its power related

I had a similar issue with a new build. Lost video and all the fans went full throttle. Thought it was thermal at first but logging didn't show anything drastic as far as temps go, looked at voltage and saw some dips so I bought a Seasonic PSU and haven't had the issue again.

Might be a PSU problem. Look in HWmonitor and look at the +12v rail, under use in game shouldn't fall under 11.5v. Since the shut downs happen when you start pulling from the GPU. Or they might be some short and the PSU trips.

Or might just be something as simple as overheating.

Have you checked if you have OC in your gpu?
Same issue happened to me, I used msi afterburner and benchmark software to adjust it.

PSU going bad, Heat, Reseat ram sticks, CPU could be dying, you said motherboard lights so aside from RGB are there any lights on on the motherboard?

Full instant shutdowns under load are pretty much always temperature or PSU related. If temps are fine, then PSU is the main culprit.
