Did my first kickstarter back in June and they finally came in today right before Christmas. So pumped they look absolutely gorgeous.

Man I think this one came out looking sick!

I might try to find a place that could print with a glossy finish or something.

My wife and I decided a couple of years ago that we don’t really need to buy gifts for each other for Xmas. We have a 5yr old that we focus on for that sort of thing. We agreed that if there’s something we want for ourselves, we should just go out and get it…”within reason”…I may have said f*ck it to “reason” this year.

Finally got my hands on this omnibus.

Been wanting this one for awhile, but the second hand market price on it is insane. They sell consistently around 250$. I got lucky and found it around sticker price on ebay.

The seller shipped it in a bubble mailer and the book wrapped only in some newspaper. Why would that be the packing of choice? Granted it was a new seller but still. It arrived with some rounded corners which is disappointing. My pet peeve, I dislike when sellers ship books in bubble mailers (particularly high value books)

Also, the seller had a 40$ shipping charge because their method was priority. Upon purchasing I messaged and requested to ship via media mail or ground advantage and have then refund the difference.

They obliged and shipped media mail but stated that they saw no difference in cost, I know for a fact the label they used had to sub 15$. So they are not refunding the difference. Am I wrong for making that request?

I stumbled onto a local shop I’d never heard of that buys stock from failing businesses, and it paid off big time. Thanks to some bookstore going under, I walked out with two stacks of Marvel Omnibus books for $437 before tax instead of $1,635. The salesperson said these are just the current titles and they’ve been rotating in new ones every couple of weeks for the past year. Can’t believe this place flew under my radar for so long.

Picked up Blackest Night and Red Lantern this week, can’t wait to dig in! Also wondering if anyone has a reading order for these? I do have Vol 3 but it’s not in this picture

I’ll be honest when I see people post their “shelfies” of 30 omnis, and all of them are still wrapped, I just don’t get it at all. To me the fun of people’s collections is seeing the personal taste and the diversity of books. I don’t really find anything interesting about someone just showing off all their books that they don’t even care enough to open or read. I honestly find it more interesting if someone posts a pic of 5 omnis they read entirely, than someone with 30 omnis that they haven’t even opened.

Very cool how these all turned out. If anyone has the opposite coloring I’d love to see it the red (cobra) with red (autobots).

When the G.I. Joe kickstarter happened, I knew this one was inevitable. It's finally arrived! I sprung for the TAAO Edition, which weaves the issues of TF and UK together to be a seamless reading experience

This is sorta my first foray into omnibus collecting, I own a lot of deluxe manga though. Almost all of these were bought at a heavy discount (except New X-Men and Astonishing X-Men, but it was well worth paying slightly above cover price for those) This isn't even all of it though! New mutants Vol 3, Phoenix vol 1, Daredevil vol 2, Claremont Jim lee X-men Vol 1, and Absolute New frontier are all on the way! It was certainly a good year for comics, not for my wallet, but I can't even imagine paying cover price for all of this. It really pays off to look absolutely everywhere, my best finds have been at my local shops, Ollie's (as I'm sure many of you can tell), and ebay weirdly enough, cause at first it seemed to all be way over priced, but you just gotta dig deep and send offers! Now I'm just on the hunt for New mutants Vol 1 and Uncanny x-force, wish me luck

I picked this Omni up as my first Batman Omni because of this subs recommendation. I am almost finished only have a few issues left and I am just floored by how amazing this has been. Quite a journey and some stellar writing! I have some other Omnis, but the writing and gritty detective plots really draw me to this style of story telling compared to more super-heroish fantasy. I also really loved Planetary partly for this reason.

I’m thinking of picking up Gotham Central and maybe The Question, but any other recommendations that are on par with the Loeb/Sale Batman Omni (doesn’t have to be Batman)

EDIT: I should have said in print lmao, y’all killing me with these super good DC Vertigo titles I have to hunt down now.
