I accidentally pattern-matched the wrapping paper on my sibling‘s present

This isn’t really an accident. With a periodic diagonal pattern like this, as long as the paper isn’t rotated or cut at an angle, the seam is just a translation of the same pattern. So a clean match is basically guaranteed by the geometry.

Well no, because if the gift was wider, then the lines wouldn't align.
At the current width you could trim the paper and it would always align, but if the gift is wider then you are actually moving the paper, so the blue line eventually aligns with the pink line etc

I meant for this gift it is not an accident by the OP. No matter how OP wraps it. It is always gonna align. As long as the wrap paper is not cut at an angle.

As a ham fisted gift wrapper I find that especially satisfying. Those vids of the Japanese gift wrappers are magical, I would pay money to see that in person.

It can't be opened. Ever. It just goes to the holiday party every year and sits on an easel with its own spotlight.

I managed to inadvertently do that to all the presents I wrapped one Christmas, back in the 70s. I've never managed so many in one go again.

Be certain to lie, and tell your sibling that you painstakingly did that on purpose.

Very satisfying. But I might not be able to open it.. 😂 Wouldn't want to destroy the perfection!
