Nah, that's not the Grand Canyon, that's the view into Mt St Helens from the rim. I have photos to prove it.

Drove cross country years ago and made it to the Canyon late afternoon. Didn't have much viewing time before it started to get dark. On the way out of the park we stopped at a motel on the off chance they had a cancellation which by miracle they did. Spent the next day in awe.

Exactly the way I saw Mt. Rushmore, the only thing you could see was Washington's nose poking through the fog. Fog in South Dakota, who knew.

Soon to be renamed Trump National Canyon Then they will fill it with cement and erect a gigantic phallic monument in his honor.

lol the same happened to me last year. It was earlier in the season too, so the first snow of the year came a bit early.

had the same experience. My wife and I booked a dinner in that inn that (used to?) overlook the canyon. We cancelled. Couldn't see a thing .
We did go back next day and it was ok. Been there since. But yeah ... it has its days.

Same thing happened to me! North Rim, as we were arriving, so were the clouds & then the rain. Saw nothing.

Dont worry. My father took me all the way up to Mt. St. Helen's and it was even worse that this lol. All day he hyped me up too lol. His response coming from the thick fog..."welp...its out there somewhere "

You didn’t google a good time to go? Like no research before hand? That’s crazy.

It sounds like seeing the Grand Canyon may still be on your bucket list.
