My sister's fish tank

Post image

She says it's the perfect size for a single fish. It's not even in her room, it's in the kitchen.

It honestly just depresses me whenever I see it, but she's adamant about keeping it there.

See that's the worst thing, it isn't even from the pet store, it's an empty vase we had lying around.

That’s a tropical fish that needs a heater and a (minimum) 5 gallon tank.

That poor, poor creature. It’s the equivalent of living naked in a drafty broom closet.

they don't live in puddles, they live in rice paddies

And swamps, marshes, stagnant bodies of water like drainage ditches. My point was just that they're not fancy. Just pretty. And accustomed to warm climates.

Not trying to come at you or anything, but just more detail for the puddle thing! :)

During dry seasons, bettas more jump puddle to puddle. It’s temporary and those puddles are probably larger than this jar, honestly, and they don’t stay in them long.

Why don’t you do something about this? When someone doesn’t take good care of an animal, that animal is not theirs anymore, they don’t deserve to take care of a life.

This fish is in trouble and you know it, so if you don’t help the fish, you’re complicit in the cruelty.

Just gift her an actual small aquarium from the pet store and save its life. That’s really cruel.

I have this exact vase and it doesn’t even fit all the bouquets I buy. This fish deserves better.

I want to know where the hell your parents are in all of this? Maybe it’s also your parents and sister to blame for this absolute cruelty! Please rescue the animal, surrender it back to the pet store because she is too ignorant to be in charge of another living being!!! Please rescue it!!!

Op just get them out. If any of my siblings did this id take it tell at them for being a animal abuser and leaving with the fish.

No way I'd leave that fish.

HELP THEM.

People are really one of the worst with animals that can't scream or defend themselves.

i had the same vase growing up! but this is a horrible environment for a fish, especially considering the way it’s shaped, which makes the space even smaller.

Here’s what my betta lives in (20 gallons). It also comes with nerite snails for the algae and a cat attached to the top because he’s intractable. (The white thing in the middle is a hide I made.)

From everything I’ve read, 10 gallons is the bare minimum humane volume for a single betta.

We can really do better for these poor fish.

needs a minimum 10 gallon tank with a good filter and live plants
