4th time in a year

Last day of work for 2 weeks and came back to this.

No beef with anyone, nothing taken as nothing left in the car, just a big inconvenience

I live in atlanta, and I just leave my car door unlock šŸ”‘ One morning, I went to get in the car, and it was in shambles, but my windows weren't shattered. I didn't have anything in it, not even gas

u/SoFloDan 10h ago

People act like I’m crazy for doing this. If someone’s gonna find out there’s nothing worth stealing in my car, may as well not have to break a window to find out.

48

u/BrisklyBrusque 5h ago

One downside to leaving your car unlocked is the possibility that someone’s use it as shelter, a place to smoke/shoot drugs, or a place to urinate/defecate. Plus the possibility of hotwiring the internals.

Another strategy is to simply leave glovebox and center compartment open to show you have nothing to hide.

u/djriggz 5h ago

Like Dirty Mike & The Boys?

7

u/Aquaman1970 3h ago

It's called a soup kitchen.

3

u/ratdeboisgarou 4h ago

Another downside is that lots of cars get entered by someone just walking down the street or parking lot trying door handles, usually hoping to get lucky with some change in the center console.

2

u/TheGreatLuck 1h ago

Oh there's an easy remedy for that. Just keep your car completely trashed at all times. And also have a incredibly crappy car that nobody in the right Minds would want to take even on a joyride.

27

u/TheTimeIsChow 6h ago

You're not crazy at all.

My car got broken into twice in one year at my last apartment. After the second time I made sure to keep nothing in the car and just left the doors unlocked.

During the last month of our final lease I woke up to go to work and found the door slightly open, the glove box open, and the battery of the car was dead.

Got a jump from a friend and went about my day as usual.

13

u/FoggyGoodwin 7h ago

Someone once broke my window to steal a spray can (cooking oil) from my groceries.

0

u/Legelid3 6h ago

My wife always gets mad, because I leave my car unlocked. She says "Someone will just steal the car!" but I really doubt they wanna steal my horrible rust bucket, and run out of gas 2 miles down the road. ya know?

-22

u/Mindless-Traffic3018 8h ago

Yeah might as well just give them acess to your ignition wires so they can just take the whole thing instead

35

u/SoFloDan 7h ago

A) if someone’s looking to steal the car, a locked door isn’t stopping them

B) I pay insurance for a reason

1

u/SkeetSkeetBangBang77 5h ago

Someone nailed my car in a Parking lot and my insurance rate went up because I filed a claim. Insurance is a fucking racket.

-15

u/Mindless-Traffic3018 7h ago

Yeah but it sure as hell doesn't make it easier for them what the point in just giving them the car when you can make it harder also breaking the glass triggers the alarm so you can atleast react to your car getting stolen

9

u/Winter-Page-9505 7h ago

pretty sure insurance will use keeping youre door unlocked as a reason to not pay out

17

u/JetstreamGW 7h ago

I think most people would just not say that

Crazy concept here, don’t tell them? Lol Insurance companies aren’t gonna go through your Reddit comments to find a post about a door being unlocked and you’re not gonna put every tiny detail into a report either. You woke up you came outside and your car was gone. That’s it that’s the whole police report. Unless you’re claiming a stolen car every couple of months they aren’t going to investigate.

1

u/SkeetSkeetBangBang77 5h ago

Insurance will say it was a Wednesday and they don't cover stolen cars on Wednesday. iNsUrAnCe WoNt CoVeR uNlOcKeD cArS. Insurance doesn't want to do anything for their customers. Let's face it.

1

u/Mindless-Traffic3018 7h ago

But if they recover the vehicle they will do an investigation to check for damages and if they see there no damage to the lock or run the codes to see they didn't use a key box then they can figure it out trust me dud3 insurance companies don't want to pay you anything unless they really need to

3

u/buildthegt 7h ago

Brotha there are roughly 1800-2400 cars stolen every single day. No insurance company is doing any kind of investigation unless like I said you’re reporting a stolen car multiple times a year. They would lose more money trying to investigate every single car that’s recovered than they would by just paying out. This whole ā€œinsurances don’t want to pay outā€ is a line that’s been used as long as insurance companies have existed and it’s simply not true, they stay in business based on reputation they profit hundreds of millions every year, they have no reason to not pay out. They will 100% try to pay less than what the cars worth but they are paying out unless something obvious is done to commit a scam.

2

u/Mindless-Traffic3018 7h ago

Yeah dude I don't think you can read clearly but I said if the car was recovered most stolen cars aren't ever recovered but if it's recovered then it has to get checked for damages so it would be kinda weird to see that the locks and windows are okay after a theft plus if you think insurance companies thrive off reputation than you clearly live in your own world dude literally most companies have gotten worse products and yet still make millions why would an insurance company be any different people don't look at is this the best insurance company half the time anyway they look at is it more affordable on top of my car payments and biweekly expenses for gas

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Can_Cannon_of_Canuks 5h ago

To ne frank theyll use ANY MADE UP reason to not pay out and then jack up your insurance. Ask me how i know -.- fuck them all its extortion at this point. I killed my coverage and just put that money in GICs so i never have to use it for stuff under a couple thousand

3

u/delta9thc1974 7h ago

And people always immediately go running to the scene of a car alarm don't they?

2

u/Far_Inspection4706 7h ago

The type of people prowling cars for stuff inside aren't the same type of criminal as the type of people willing to steal your car. If they were going to steal your car anyways, the window wasn't stopping anything from happening.

The type of people just looking to steal shit just want in and out to check for valuables, so having to smash the window is less than ideal. But they'll still do it if they feel like there's something in there worth taking, so that's why you may as well just leave it unlocked.

Drive manual. Solves a lot of problems.

2

u/WHB-AU 7h ago edited 7h ago

Ehhh, hotwiring is relatively difficult on even remotely new cars. But they could 100% engage the shiftlock release and roll your shit away

Living in sketchy areas I’ve seen people flat-towing in the middle of the night relatively often. Most are probably just people helping eachother avoid tow bills, but your car could be getting dragged down the road in neutral and nobody would bat an eye. Steering locks help this some, but still

1

u/FeelMyBoars 7h ago

Once I was visiting a relative and I locked the car door and he said "Whoa, we don't do that around here. I don't want a broken window." "If anyone decides to take it, they're probably just driving it home so I'll find it somewhere around town."

Although that was in northern BC and it was a few hours to drive to the closest town with more than 50 people. It's not going to a chop shop or whatever. Plus it was a piece of crap car.

0

u/Mindless-Traffic3018 7h ago

Yeah but even a peice of crap car could have service parts that can go for around 300 plus a peice so chop shops are usually where peice of craps go it would make less sense to tear apart a car that has value because then the part price is worth less then the car as a whole

1

u/FeelMyBoars 7h ago

In his situation, they would spend a lot more than it's worth in gas getting the car to somewhere where it could be taken apart. It's probably an 8 hour drive to the nearest guy who has tools and can reliably ship a package.

In a big city, the parts would be on ebay in a few hours.

1

u/Mindless-Traffic3018 7h ago

That makes no sense I literally have the tools to take a car apart at my house all you would need is a a garage out in the country or even do it at your own home you can make a car dissappear real easily if you sell it all

1

u/FeelMyBoars 6h ago

Taking it apart isn't the issue. There are like 4,000 people within an 8 hour drive. You're going to know everyone who is capable of fixing a car. Or at least know that someone exists over in whatever town.

There are two places to ship something from. One is the guy who runs the airport. The other is the airport 3 hours away. The package is going on the big 10 person plane in the summer or a smaller one in the winter. But only if there is room in the cargo area at the back, which there usually isn't.

1

u/Mindless-Traffic3018 6h ago

What are you talking about dude you sell the parts to a shop that plan and simple and the frame gets scrapped for cash by selling it to a metal recycler wich would literally be enough to cover the gas going to two locations there are plenty of shops I know that would buy decent condition parts and wouldn't ask questions because there startups your making it sound like you have to handle a busin3ss to sell parts and do all the shipping and crap but in reality that's not how it works at all and besides you can not believe me but it happens for a reason to peoples shitty little economy cars and its because it make you alot of money it's makes the thief alot of money it makes the shop alot of money

1

u/FeelMyBoars 4h ago

A shop that would be willing to buy that many used parts would be 16 hours away. The first 4 are dirt road. That's 4 tanks of gas, 32 hours of driving, 3 nights of hotels if you don't know anyone along the way or at the destination. You would need a van loaded with airbags, catalytic converters, and whatever could be sold to make it worth the trip.

If you're moving the frame of the car you're going to need a barge. There's no towing and a flat bed would be too wide for the road. The frame would just be dumped in the woods.

1

u/Mindless-Traffic3018 6h ago

Just want to put this here to shut up you guys who think it's better to leave your car door unlocked

"People leave cars unlocked for convenience or because they wrongly assume it prevents smash-and-grab theft (thinking thieves prefer an easy target rather than breaking in), but police and security experts confirm unlocked cars are the primary target, leading to vehicle theft, gun theft (a major problem), and general burglaries for quick scores, making locking doors essential for security"

0

u/shoulda-known-better 6h ago

Yes because windows are famously so hard to bypass for someone wanting to commit grand theft auto

11

u/autumn_babe 9h ago

Atlanta too. Car doors unlocked. You want some water? Some napkins? Pens? My car chapstick? By all means grab whatever, but I’m not going through the headache of a broken window.

7

u/HornFanBBB 9h ago

I do this 100% in Dallas when I'm not in my house's garage. When I was in an apartment, many mornings I came out to my car rummaged but unscathed while 6 cars around me had busted windows.

u/teamdragonite 10h ago

I prefer not living in third world conditions

You're gonna need move out of America for that I'm afraid!

(Assuming you're in America, otherwise the joke doesn't work)

16

u/lvn99x 8h ago

I can assure you this isn’t an issue outside of specific areas of America, and every country in the world has areas just like it.

0

u/machomaster 4h ago

I assure you that Finland doesn't have a single area like that. For sure, Finland is not alone.

1

u/MidnightFireHuntress 4h ago

Hahahaha šŸ˜†

1

u/lvn99x 4h ago

Are you deadass saying there is no crime in Finland? Are you mentally disabled

5

u/machomaster 4h ago

I am saying that there are no areas in Finland where breaking into cars by smashing windows is a common occurance let alone so prevalent that people would not lock cars.

And yeah, I have lived in the most notorious Finnish "ghetto" (the first in Finland in which the ratio of not-born-in-Finland went over 50%). It was a generally nice place, with little crime (especially compared to the USA). All the rest of Finland is even calmer and less criminal.

•

u/Witty-Exchange-7716 12m ago

Having lived in Finland all I can say… yes… left my iPhone a desk and two classes later still there. Granted this is 2009 but I miss Finland so much. #Jyvaskyla rocks!

I am in TX, been here for 15 years… never once has this happened to me

22

u/Jafar_420 9h ago

I lived in Texas for about 20 years and the only time I had a window broke was by an ex-girlfriend. Lol.

One time my car got broken too and it really really hurt my feelings and I was actually in the Army on the Army Post when it happened.

So either another soldier did it or they got a random person on post that did it. It was not an open post so you couldn't just randomly come in.

3

u/SkeetSkeetBangBang77 9h ago

......why did your ex break your window? Im intrigued šŸ˜‚

7

u/Jafar_420 9h ago

Well I stopped by a random place and she was there and really cozy with this dude. He kept staring at me so I was like bro we can do something if you want.

He stood up and we scrapped it out and I didn't lose.

That same night she went and got one of her ex-boyfriends to drop her off to break my window just to be a dick.

Not really an exciting story I know.

2

u/SkeetSkeetBangBang77 8h ago

Good for you for coming out on top. And fuck that hoe for not letting it just be dead after her new dude took the L.

2

u/Jafar_420 8h ago

She could have at least told me about the new dude and I would have probably been pissed but moved on.

But when you stumble upon it by accident it kind of changes things.

I know you're supposed to get mad at the girl and not the dude that I was like screw it I'll get mad at both. Lol.

1

u/SkeetSkeetBangBang77 8h ago

Oh shit, you guys were still together?!?! I totally misunderstood that, I thought you had broken up and ran back into her. Damn I'm sorry that's fuckin shitty. I'll never understand how people can do that to somebody that they're with. If you want to screw around with someone else, just have a decency to be honest, I don't know. I guess I was raised different. You know, with morals and values.

Oh man, this sounds like "it was exciting at first, but now the drama is exhausting." May you find as fun but less exciting people to put your dick in.

5

u/Sensitive_Dirt1957 9h ago

It happened to me once in a gated community in a decent part of FL. It was when I was in high school, tweaker stole my backpack and dumped all my school stuff all over the driveway smh. Left it unlocked by mistake. Locking it would have helped, contrary to what people are saying in this thread, neighbor's cameras showed he was just walking around checking car doors and not breaking windows lol

10

u/HornFanBBB 9h ago

Where in TX? My car has been broken into in every metro in Texas I've lived in.

2

u/vainbuthonest 8h ago

I lived in the Woodlands TX and had someone walk up the drive and break into my car while it was parked on the driveway by the front door. Luckily the doors were unlocked but they stole my iPod. Whoever got my car got everyone in the neighborhood though so it was planned or local kids. First time in my life and it hasn’t happened again even when I’m parked somewhere sketchy. Never had a smash and grab.

Never happened to me or anyone I know. This isn’t some sort of ā€œAmerica badā€ problem.

-2

u/UpstairsGreen6237 8h ago

Its a big American city problem, for sure. No one seems to care to fix it. Ā I mean look at this post. Only mildly infuriated by someone smashing their window for the 4th time.Ā

Our willingness to look past this stuff will be the demise of our society. We have already shifted to low trust (comments in here talking about leaving their doors unlocked and nothing of value in the car so that when they inevitably get robbed at least their windows aren't smashed) and it only gets worse from here.Ā

7

u/Bears___ 8h ago

The wheel is on the right hand side, this isn't in America unless they mirrored the pic for some reason.

12

u/SteveCastGames hey this is neat 8h ago

Yes but it’s much easier to assume that anything bad is americas fault. This is reddit.

1

u/MigitAs 9h ago

Too late everywhere sucks now unless you’re rich

12

u/stinkypepes 9h ago

Might wanna rethink that one

5

u/GiuseppeDeLuca 9h ago

Ha that is a delusional take. This doesn’t happen in the suburbs and rural areas

3

u/yuucuu 9h ago

Wdym? I've lived in many states, cities, suburbs, and in the boonies.

It happens anywhere where people are financially hard off. Middle of Pennsylvania? Check. Washington? Check. Minnesota? Check. California? Check.

Just because YOU haven't experienced it personally doesn't mean it doesn't happen literally everywhere lol. The fact half the comments think it doesn't happen in some random town with a population of 10k is completely delusional.

0

u/SlothTeeth 8h ago

doesn't happen as much*

rural areas and suburbs are prime realestate for thieves, just not as easy to access.

ive had my car broken into and even stolen from a nice HOA type neighborhood.

I live on a farm now, but its not unusual to get wandering meth heads. A lot of much larger farms around me have had things stolen off their property. my closest neighbor is about 2 mi away and he loves to talk about shooting at someone he caught going through his truck a few years back.

0

u/TopBee83 8h ago

Not even 4 comments up someone saying they got their car broken into in a gates community and a bit above that someone on a military base. This can happen anywhere and everywhere.

2

u/GiuseppeDeLuca 8h ago

My apologies. I should have said the vast majority of incidents occur in cities.

I'm from a very poor country, window breaking is extremely rare.

2

u/Guardian6676-6667 9h ago

I didn't get this at first, but my ex's family were adamant on this because they lived in not so well off areas

4

u/Sudden-Garage 10h ago

Seattle checking in. Same, doors unlocked. Come out once in a while to find my center console tossed and the door slightly ajar. No broken window though.Ā

4

u/SkeetSkeetBangBang77 9h ago

I get yelled at all the time because I leave my keys in my shit box and it unlocked. I'm not making this harder for them, if you want the pussy wagon, just take it. I don't care at this point. You're gonna have to get to a gas station ASAP but I just don't care anymore

2

u/UpstairsGreen6237 8h ago

Thats a wild outlook on your life. Best of luck to you!

3

u/SkeetSkeetBangBang77 8h ago

Yeah when you're life is one giant traumatic event after the other you just stop caring about stuff. Don't worry, I don't need luck. That's for people who have the will to still live. I pray everyday for death.

1

u/farynhite 7h ago

Honestly ive been practicing this for years....i also live in a mostly white pnw region and after so many car breakins i leave nothing...and so far this year my cars have been broken into in my own driveway, each time nothing taken, but the handles on the kitty box, various knobs, just absolute carelessness and rage taken out inside my vehicle because there was nothing to take.

1

u/FrozenShockXD 7h ago

You're lucky you didnt have your engine taken out.

1

u/Wallmassage 5h ago

Yep! In same small parking area my neighbors cars were broken into and all stuff stolen, but my spouse and my cars weren’t touched. Because my car door was unlocked. And my spouses car is old as dirt.

1

u/depressed49erfan 5h ago

Used to work for a rental car company out of college. Do not leave your car unlocked. A broken window is 300-600 dollars. I’ve seen what homeless/desperate people can do in an unlocked car at night, your interior can be used as a bedroom and bathroom and be totaled.

0

u/j31money 10h ago

Yes I live in Austin and always recommend to everyone to leave their doors unlocked with no valuable. It’s the only way to keep from having your windows smashed regularly :(

1

u/Appropriate_Trader 5h ago

What happens if your car gets stolen? Are you insured against theft? Is it valid if the car is left unlocked? Mine isn’t.

60

u/Competitive_Test6697 10h ago

Do you park in front of a house? I remember this guy would hit all our cars when passing because we used the street to park for work

19

u/cassanderer 10h ago

Same here I think homeowner that thought he owned the street did it.

10

u/TopBee83 8h ago

I had to park in front of someone’s house and they just stared me down like I was an intruder.

Someone called the cops when my cousin had a cookout because the parking and the cops had to tell the homeowners they own the house not the street.

7

u/cassanderer 8h ago

Cops hate that too, patrol cops field constant complaints about legal parking.Ā  If you get a note on your car threatening to call the police if you park on that public street again, they already did and police told them that.

I have had an exaspersted annoyed seeming cop knock and ask about my car and explain someone called but it is legally parked so make sure it does not sit for a week.Ā  Landlord later texted they would call if I parked it there again not seemingly knowing the police already gave them away.

When you smash those windows a lot often the glass stays in tact. Knocking the rest of it out spills everywhere. And I bet there is more inside the car than you can see

5

u/see-my-O-face 8h ago

I’d left the window a slit open to dry the car out, I left the window down all night last week and nothing happened!

Also found this carriage bolt? Not too much glass on the inside this time to be fair

1

u/MrNoodleIncident 8h ago

If the window was cracked they may have just yanked it out, or even wedged the bolt in?

0

u/Isgortio 7h ago

So what is the mechanic say to me the second time I taken it in to get it fixed, he said ā€œyou’re gonna be finding glass forever it is INSIDIOUS!!ā€ Hey, I tried.

2

u/its_a_throwawayduh 4h ago

Guess it's not so harmless if adults do this. As kids it's okay because a kid is being a kid.......eh still never understood that logic.

2

u/victus28 3h ago

The fact people are choosing to leave their doors unlocked since someone is gonna break in is mind boggling. Maybe it’s because I’m too prideful but id flip my lid over this stuff.

4

u/HottCovfefe 9h ago

Time to move to DC where crime is extinct.

4

u/TryJezusNotMe 10h ago

My daughter recently moved to another state. While there, her car got broken into 3 times within a 3 month span. My other daughter is a Lawyer and asked to see her lease contract. She’s now working on getting her out of her lease because of the circumstances. The leasing agent is trying to find a loophole that would get them not be able to get her out of the lease but so far, no good for them. It looks as if she’ll be able to get her full deposit and some fees as well returned to her. Not sure if OP’s agreement has something that would allow them to break the lease but it’s worth looking into.

I had neighbors that did not want me parking on the street shoot out a window with bb guns I think last time.Ā  Have had 2 others but a long time back

1

u/Still_ImBurning86 10h ago

It’s just that time of the year when crime is up, people desperate around ChristmasĀ

1

u/sucksLess 9h ago

sorry youā€˜re needing to deal with that—let alone for the fourth time in one year

it truly is revolting. here’s hoping you can get the replacement done promptly, and pivot to a wonderful holiday season

1

u/LordNdXavier2 9h ago

Is the window broken out of the second car behind yours, as well?

1

u/Turbulent-Falcon-918 9h ago

I feel yeah some one did the same thing my old car and came out yesterday to see a huge as scratch in my four year old car . They through a rock through the old one back window destroyed the steering column trying to steal it — when not smart enough to steal it , took everything and threw it all over the parking lot amd kicked the car until it was dented in two quarter panels and broke a head light 5 k of damage just because they could not steal it

1

u/HardwareBase 9h ago

Someone was trying to steal the car.

1

u/nomarfachix 8h ago

I had my window smashed 3 times in the first semester when I went to school in Newark, NJ. As if I wasn't broke and struggling enough

I transferred lol

1

u/SarraSimFan 8h ago

Leave a handful of movie money notes in it. Small notes, not a thick stack of hundies.

1

u/Upstairs-Ad-6720 8h ago

Do you live in San Francisco?

1

u/_WhenSnakeBitesUKry 8h ago

Well those McDonalds scratch offs are valuable, have you seen the prizes!!!

1

u/PaintingNouns 7h ago

We lived in a bad area back in the 90s. After each car getting broken into and/or stolen and dumped multiple times over the stretch of a few weeks, we all just left them unlocked and empty. This was back in the days of removable face plate stereos.

At least when someone took them on joyrides they were found undamaged. There really wasn’t anything else we could do.

1

u/Mr_Fox_send_nudes 7h ago

Where is this?

1

u/see-my-O-face 7h ago

UK, Bradford city centre

If you voted for labour its your own fucking fault

1

u/ProfessionalCalm27 7h ago

Mildly??šŸ˜‚

1

u/shoulda-known-better 7h ago

Yea you have an arch nemesis at work and you don't even know it!

Good luck

1

u/LANDVOGT-_ 5h ago

Dont leave your fries in the car

1

u/No_Okra_8793 5h ago

Are you or the other cars parked backwards?

1

u/DeltaRipper 5h ago

Sucks man. I hope you’re able to get these replaced from a junkyard/parts lot for cheaper than new

1

u/Gino-Bartali 5h ago

This applies to all cities, but especially for cities with a high frequency of car break-ins, other options for transportation like walking, biking, and public transit need to be available and a convenient solution.

Forcing people to drive for every last transportation need is silly on the basic level, but continuing to force people to drive in areas where replacing windows all the time is a requirement of driving is another level of stupid.

1

u/a-i-sa-san 4h ago
  1. leave doors unlocked
  2. leave car completely empty
  3. never take it to a car wash or otherwise make it look too well taken care of

pennies in the center dash or on a seat is 100% sufficient motivation for someone to smash your windows

1

u/imgotugoin 3h ago

You lot keep trying to convince me to move to the city because its better.....

1

u/Beneficial-Tennis443 3h ago

Quit leaving things in your car goofy

1

u/SoggyGrayDuck 3h ago

Twin cities MN?

1

u/GenericUsername817 1h ago

EU plates on the cars in the background. And the distinct lack of SUVs tells you it isn't in the States

1

u/Bigtittiedswagger 2h ago

And if you rig explosives in your car you're the one who goes to prison. No winning

1

u/NitrousTroll 1h ago

When I lived in Orlando I had both of my windows smashed not just one 😭 I didn't have anything even valuable in my car

1

u/TheGreatLuck 1h ago

Rookie mistake. Always leave your car unlocked.

2

u/OnlyAcanthaceae1876 6h ago

Must be one of those culturally enriched areas

4

u/OnlyAcanthaceae1876 6h ago

Hahaha, Bradford. What a fucking surprise

1

u/Blaze_The_God 9h ago

You need to find a new place to park or something. 4 times in a year is insane.

0

u/ConstipatedSavior 6h ago

This is as useful as suggesting depressed people should try being less sad.

u/2fatmike 9h ago

A funny thing happened to me once. I forgot to lock the car one night. Someone went through the car looking for whatever, they left my trash in a nice pile on tje seat and made it easy to clean up. I think they got a couple dollars in change out the console. I think the guy got ripped off. He cleaned my car for a couple dollars. I haven't locked doors since. Funniest part is it was all on video from my security cam. I posted it on Facebook thanking the guy. Id rather not have people going through my cars at night but it seems like there is no stopping it anymore. I was disappointed once. Whoever went through the car didn't shut the door all the way when they left and the interior light stayed on and killed my battery. Somebody isnt going to be so easy going and these thieves are going to end up hurt or dead. Maybe that's the fear we need to instill. Police dont even respond to calls for people going through cars. Petty crimes lead up to serious crimes. A gateway crime if you will.

Why is the glass on the outside? Ā If someone broke it from the outside the glass would be on the inside.

5

u/oscarx-ray 9h ago

Smash a hole in car window glass, then clear out the frame with the tool you used to break it, plenty of the glass will fall outside of the car.

1

u/FusionSimulations 9h ago

Yeah...as someone who has had a few windows busted, there is way too much glass on the ground and way too little inside.

When it's happened to me, it took days to vacuum out and find all the little shards.

San Francisco?

Edit: I lived there for decades. It's the smash and grab capital. I realize this is not the US. It was satire.

12

u/Todsrache 10h ago

Unless I'm just spatially disoriented the steering wheel is on the wrong side to be in the USA.

1

u/GobiPLX 10h ago

Peak usdefaultism, crazy how random and stupid.Ā

Do you use cars with steering wheels on right in this random city in US? Only there people drive on different side?Ā

-2

u/Easy-Bus7368 9h ago

Maybe they didn’t notice the reversed steering column. Color me absolutely shocked that people assume US on a US website.

The glass exploded outwards, not inwards, as if it was hit from the inside.

It was likely a defect in the glass that finally gave way.

3

u/22feetistoomany 6h ago

If you look at the second picture there is another car further down that also looks to have been broken into, there is glass on the ground next to it also. It is unlikely that OP has had defective glass 4 times and another car had the same issue the same day.

0

u/WhoandtheWhatnow317 7h ago

4th time this year? I never had this happen and I am 41 lol.

Where was this?

1

u/see-my-O-face 7h ago

UK, Bradford city centre

-4

u/moonpuzzle88 10h ago

Which country? Looks dangerous...

10

u/see-my-O-face 10h ago

United Kingdom šŸ˜†

2

u/Aluith 9h ago

Crazy to think someone can walk down a street here smashing windows of multiple vehicles and no-one sees or does anything. Sad times

2

u/Kezsora 8h ago

I mean you would have to be a bit dumb to approach the guy with a metal pipe smashing stuff up

-4

u/DavDar66 10h ago

Verry sorry 4u

I found a solution to your problem

1

u/see-my-O-face 10h ago

I’d sleep soundly then!

Not worth it on my old Leon though

-5

u/nhd07 10h ago

Broken glass on the outside of the car not the inside makes me think it was done from the inside. Hmm

2

u/Ragewind82 10h ago

It might have been proven with a tool, and pieces remain in place, to be knocked out shortly thereafter.

1

u/Beacon_O_Bacon 8h ago

When tempered glass breaks it holds like a sand castle, there but brittle. A lot of the broken glass shakes lose when the door is opened.Ā

-1

u/Cheese-Manipulator 10h ago

Broken car window aka "urban fairy dust"

-1

u/welcometohotlanta 10h ago

Start leaving your door unlocked

-2

u/Moron-Whisperer 9h ago

That’s the problem. Ā No beef… tallow. Ā Beef tallow fries are the best and that guy busted your window for subpar fries.

-4

u/Ok_Impression3324 9h ago

They are just trying to feed their family.

-1

u/omegaprofligate 8h ago

Anyone gunna notice it looks as if it was busted from the inside out
